About this house rental
This historic home was built in 1928 from lumber milled on the property and is a wonderful place to enjoy the cool clear waters of Lake Burton. The four bedroom, three bathroom home is on a flat lot and has one of the best views on the lake with beautiful sunset views.
Three bedrooms are on the main level and a fourth bedroom is upstairs. The master bedroom has a king size bed with an attached bathroom. On the other side of the house are two bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has two twin beds and these bedrooms share a bathroom. The family bedroom upstairs has a queen bed and four twin beds with an attached bathroom.
Outside you will find an old-fashioned tree swing, two hammocks, and a fire pit. There is room for a rousing game of volleyball or badminton.
The flat lot leads to the lake which has a shallow entrance which quickly deepens for great swimming or floating on rafts. Play in the water or take the two kayaks or the canoe out into Murray Cove. There is seating on the dock or above the boathouse to watch over those in or on the water.
If you would like to swing on the porch swing and listen to the sound of a screen door shutting, this house is for you. You can drink from old fashioned aluminum glasses, play ping pong, make home made ice cream and cook on the grill. You can end your day at the fire pit roasting marshmallows, listening to the gentle waves calm down and watching for the lightning bugs to come out.
Let us help you enjoy this lovely setting.

The home and lot were beautifully kept! Nice large lot for the kids to play and lots of room for fishing! Caught 2 large mouth bass. Lovely dock and cove area great for swimming and playing on water trampoline. We loved the layout of the home, lots of space! We all had a blast playing ping pong! Highly recommend this place!!

First class accommodation in every way. Not a single glitch. I’ve already booked it for next summer. ‘Nough said.

This house on the lake is a treasure. So happy we were able to enjoy it for 3 nights, but should have stayed at least 4.

A model lake vacation. Interesting property/lot, great boathouse, comfortable house. We loved relaxing on the home's back porch or up top on the boathouse. Extra bonus that the firepit was beautifully set for s'mores. Nice to be on the east side of Lake Burton, such that the trip to Clayton for groceries is only ~20min each way.

Our family included youngsters 2,3,4 & 6 had a wonderful time at this cottage. One of best level grass lots on Lake Burton, allowed us parents to relax on back porch and let the kiddos make memories. Pictures don’t do it justice. Home is stocked with EVERYTHING needed. Hosts are wonderful. Can’t wait to return!

Wonderful host. Great location. The cove is quiet and the view spectacular.
The charm of this 1928 cottage is amazing. The host are attentive and friendly. Feels like you are staying in a friends home.
The tea towel gift that was hand embroidered was a special touch.
I’d give this 6 stars if I could!

Historic Gem
The lake cottage is well stocked inside and in the boat house. There are puzzles, tubes for floating in the lake, life jackets, games, s’mores sticks, towels, etc. The one item not there is shampoo/conditioner so make sure to pack your own. The cove is very private with great views and having a large yard is a bonus for families with children. The owners are fantastic communicators and keep great care of the cottage and the property. We look forward to staying again and have already recommended this home to friends!

Great open water view!
We had a wonderful stay at this property on Lake Burton with incredible lake views! The property is exactly as described and pictured. The living area is very large and spacious. There is gracious plenty dining space and plenty of pots, pans, and dishes for cooking. The dock is wonderful with kayaks for use. The fire pit outside was wonderful and the hosts even left fire wood for us. We used the side grilling porch almost every night! Our entire group loved this place and we will be back!

Absolute bliss
My husband found this sweet cottage by the lake. We celebrated my 52 birthday with our family- friends, The Bells. It was absolutely wonderful! This cottage is well stocked. There are wonderful outdoor games to play in the little red shed and the home is well cared for. The ping pong table was an absolute hit ! The beds were very comfortable (and this is difficult to find in our experience) , and the space is clearly loved by the owners. The owners were so kind and welcoming and the check- in process was the easiest one we have ever experienced. The hammocks under the oak trees are delightful to curl up and red a book. We also rented a pant-ton boat from the local marina and that was easy abs super fun . There are nearby islands to explore. The kitchen is comfortable and the home has little sweet details such as embroidered towels, beach towels, great tea selection and mints that make it really feel like home, not just a typical VRBO rental. We are grateful for the opportunity to have stayed here this past weekend and hope to stay again soon.

Vintage Lake House
I kind of hate to write a great review because this home is so special! A beautiful original lake house with out all the flash of new homes - and that is why we love it! Original hardwoods, a big back porch, spacious rooms, small kitchen and a great backyard. The neighborhood is friendly and the boathouse is great. Less than a quarter mile from the public boat ramp in a quiet cove without much boat traffic.

Beyond Wonderful!
Cleanest VRBO we have stayed. Vic and Beth were very accessible at all times. The 1928 cottage with a comfortable modern twist is charming.
Plenty of room for all and a view that is priceless.
Many thanks.

Long Weekend Fun
We loved everything about this lovely home. It has been lovingly restored in a way that is true to its farmhouse roots with a great mix of comfortable, non-intimidating furnishings that makes you feel right at home the moment you walked in. It had plenty of room for two couples and six kids and offereda great assortment of games and yard activities complimented by an amazing lakeside location for swimming, rowing, and boating. And the views - we will never forget the sunsets!

Perfect!
This property was perfect for our family (three generations including young grandchildren) to have an isolated, self-contained vacation during the pandemic. We never left the house except for a trip to the grocery store in Clayton. Everything we could have possibly needed was provided and there was so much for everyone to do.
From morning coffee on the front porch until late nights around the fire, our days were filled with lawn games, swimming, catching rays on the boathouse, canoeing, kayaking, board games, kid's time in the playhouse, puzzles, reading, cooking, happy hours, family meals, naps and lots of quality time together. Thank you, Vic and Beth, for putting so much thought and care into your family lake home and for making it available to us. We will be back!

Family Get Together
The home was perfect for my children and grandchildren. The house was well stocked, and offering the use of the kayaks and the canoe was such a plus. We all enjoyed the fire pit in the evening and the picnic table was put to good use by the grandchildren. Can not beat the water view!!

Wonderful long weekend
We had a lovely Labor Day Weekend celebrating a special occasion at the Koehlers’. The porch swing, hammocks, and fire pit were all extra special touches. The boathouse is fabulous. Their home is well stocked and clean, and there was enough room for our whole family to be comfortable. The photos don’t do this place justice!

Home away from home; charming family getaway.
This place was amazing. The house itself is great for large families with a central gathering area and plenty of seating both inside and out as well as plenty of beds and three bathrooms. The lot is beautiful and has all the amenities you need; just bring yourself and some food and you never have to leave. We enjoyed getting together with extended family and playing games, canoeing, swimming in the lake and just watching the sunset across the water. The house is in a cove so it is calmer water which is great for the little ones swimming, and there is an island you can canoe/kayak to in a short distance. The outdoor ceiling fans contribute to the breeze and we were able to stay up to the wee hours on the top floor of the boathouse stargazing without getting bit by mosquitoes. This truly was a memorable experience for our family, and we would definitely love to return in the future.

Very comfortable and peaceful. We loved our stay. No stairs to get to the lake. Drive up and watch the kids run down to the lake! Covered parking, plenty of space. We will be back.
