The house and the location of the house are extraordionary but it is also Francis and the team what makes a special spirit.

The stay at Stella Maris was exactly what we had imagined.
We could switch off completely and enjoy nature.
Francis is a very dear and friendly hostess. It was a pleasure for us to meet her!
The breakfast is prepared very tasty.
The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable.
The only point: You should definitely have a car or bicycle with you, because there is no lunch and dinner in the house and long distances to the nearest restaurants have to be driven (15-30min by car) - which wasn't a problem for us!

I loved everything about this country home -- the room was comfortable, the view of the ocean was incredible, and the breakfast was -- quite simply -- amazing! I would recommend this house to anyone traveling in the area.
I can't think of a single thing to improve on Stella Maris's Country House. It was spectacular!

The location right by the sea.....you could see it and hear it......beautiful. Although the house is old and full of antique furniture it was in keeping with the history of the house which we were told about. Fascinating! The place was spotless, the food was prepared to order and fresh. The staff, Marian and Liz were brilliant and friendly.
The actual village of Ballycastle has little or no facilities....no places to eat. You have to be prepared to travel into Ballina which e didn't mind but some people may think driving 30 mins every evening a bit of a chore.

The location, the sea view from the bedroom, the conservatory overlooking the sea where you could sit and enjoy the scenery, the breakfast and the friendly staff. Also the character of the property and the bedrooms.
I liked everything.

You can enjoy cozy evenings from the conservatory with an astonishing view over the shore! All staff were very friendly, nice to chat to and gave us tips of what to do during the day.
This part of Mayo doesn't seem to be too busy/touristy, so you can enjoy the landscape during a nice hike or a day at the beach.

Firstly, the host Francis was so warm and welcoming, she really makes the hotel experience and stay a 5/5. She was kind enough to ring our room to make sure we had breakfast, even though we had left early on our adventures, what a lady she is! The location is superb, so quiet and peaceful with a great view of the cliffs and Downpatrick Head. Breakfast was also excellent and the room itself was cosy.
Though the room was cosy, it was slighted dated, I think that would be the only thing that makes me question the price, as well as having to carry a huge key with us, however this really shouldn't stop one from visiting this hotel.

Great location lovely old style room with high ceilings. Beautiful breakfast and really friendly staff and owner who made you feel really welcome. .
Very little to not like lovely place to stay to be honest. Maybe lighting and shower could be improved somewhat but that's it

Francis the owner reflects the essence of this beautiful guest house; poised, classy and a little sassy. We had a very memorable couple of nights here.

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon and we absolutely loved it. The location and the views are stunning and guest house is so atmospheric. The dining area, conservatory and the rooms are beautifully furnished. We ate breakfast and dinner here every day and loved all food. The owner, Francis, is a fantastic host. We will be back for sure.

The food was exceptional and the owner/manager was extremely welcoming. Great history and atmosphere about the place. Amazing view.
They had no espresso machine. No big deal.
