Balmoral, Royal Lochnager Distillery etc. erkunden.

Great location, really nice old building, I had a very warm welcome from staff
Me and one other person were trying to get the heating on in dorm, but it was very temperamental, sometimes working, sometimes not. So she asked a member of staff for assistance, who came to look at it over an hour later, and just dismissed it with "it's an old building, I can't fix the heater I'm afraid". I would have appreciated more reassurance that someone would look into fixing it, and the offer of more duvets and/or a back up heater that you can plug into the wall (but he said they don't have any)

Braemar is tiny and the hostel is just a short walk down the road from the centre, where the 201 bus stops. Facilities are excellent : large kitchen with all facilities and storage space, a breakfast room, a dining/meeting room and a large sitting room with tv and sofas. My dormitory was spacious with very comfortable bunk beds and lockers. (You need your own lock). There are large washing machines and dryers in the drying room(where you can hang wet outdoor clothing and put boots etc,) (Full large load with powder and drier for £6). You can arrange to have hostel breakfast forc an additional fee.
WiFi is excellent when working but has minutes when it cuts out, but that goes with the location and probably affects the whole village,
Reception has specific opening times for check-in and out as it is not staffed all day.

Great location. We were in a double room which was large and comfortable. Good showers and very helpful staff.
Room needed a bit of maintenance- the carpet was loosely fitted so could have been a trip hazard and the door handle was loose.

Good social spaces and lovely location
Beds were noisy

Lovely location.
The whole inside needs revamping. After being to Ullapool YH this was disappointing. Everything was dated and seemed nothing had been done to it for 20 years. We thought it was supposed to be an ensuite bathroom to our 4 bunkbed room as the listing said shower/toilet and shared bathroom. so we took it that it meant we had a toilet and shower and there were also shared toilets if necessary. So we had shared toilets and since one was out of commission there were 2 for all the men staying. I was told by the women in the group it was worse for the ladies as they had seen the men's on our floor (main door usually open) as they had to go up to the next floor for theirs and they commented it was even more dated along with only 2 toilets as the third was out of order. Apart from the beautiful location and helpful staff, it was all rather bad.

Clean, lovely kitchen, nice staff, warm and hot water.
Steps up from car park too steep. Rooms at the top very steep and difficult for carrying luggage. No bedside light.

Helpful staff, good weather, decent kitchen facility
Booking.com had falsely given impression that bed price quoted was only one available. 322.20 for 4 nights!

A very friendly welcome, good kitchen and dining area, offers both dormitory and twin rooms with sinks. Although an old building, so some of the mod cons like individual bed lights not available. Good warm powerful showers
It’s still has a long closed time 10am - 5pm. I don’t know if it changes with the seasons

Lovel, characterful hostel in great location.

Everything was to a good standard.

The welcome and the fellow guests
The youth hostel association has to offer value money and a gateway to adventure....I guess though some of the buildings and their internal fittings can seem a little tired. A hard balance to strike I know.
