Il Poggio is heavenly. The houses are beautifully scattered across the huge property, each with a space outside to enjoy the stunning nature. The owners are kind, friendly and so thoughtful.
The four of us (we have 2 girls) loved spending days there without the need to leave elsewhere at all. We played basketball, bocce, tennis, used the swimming pool every single day. The highlight was the view from the window, all the vinyards & the sunsets. Our girls asked if we could live there forever. It was the most relaxing, soul-enriching holiday.
The owners welcomed us with wine, coffee, pasta. What a nice touch that we did not have to look for food after arriving. The coffee moka meant so much to a big coffee drinker like me. We saw beautiful nearby Tuscan towns & found brilliant local restaurants nearby & also had a beautiful dinner at il Poggio one evening.
Bruna, the kindest, friendliest local dog, made my daughters’ stay unforgettable.
We are definitely coming back.

A return visit for us, just as good as the last one! Soooo peaceful, and the views of the surrounding Tuscan hills are wonderful – just the place to escape Covid madness! Although October, the pool was open – the water was a bit chilly but fine for a brisk swim.
The restaurant had just closed for the season, but self-catering was fine – a couple of trips to the supermarket in Montaione and we were all set.
Too late for the grape harvest, but we saw the preparations for the olive harvest – nets going down etc. They promised to get in touch when they had some olive oil ready to send to us in the uk.

Totally beautiful, stunning location, super quiet (except for cicadas, night birds and the odd snorting boar at night), amazing views, lots of shade and tons of space between buildings. Great pool. Good breakfast. Dinner yummy too but they didn’t do it every night (and it’s not cheap at 25 Euros pp, but it was great and plenty of food, including wine, so price is justified). Giorgio and his wife who run the place are lovely.
We liked it all! Maybe it’s worth noting that it is somewhat remote, but that’s an advantage too. Dinner is not reliably cooked every night so don’t rely on it without checking first and most restaurants that are close-ish (none in walking distance) need reservations, at least in high season.
