I liked the size of the property. It has potential to be something wonderful. It was close to our families homes which was handy.
When we first arrived at the property we had to wait for the host to arrive to check us in. After a 12 hour drive we waited 15 minutes when we had already given the time prior of when we would be checking in. I think a lock box would be more sufficient. Then we were told we needed to pay for electric and oil use? No mention of this prior to booking anywhere. I screen recorded the booking from start to finish checking every bit of information and the only policy it states is check out time and €100 security deposit. We were afraid to use anything as had no idea what we were going to be charged at the end. When we arrived the property was very cold. Which in ireland you don’t really think too much of but only when we came back to the accommodation later that night and unpacked did we realise how damp my bedding was. The pillows were wet to the touch. If you have guests arriving the heating should be put on a couple hours prior to make the accommodation warm and inviting. The windows in the bathroom did not open and there was no extractor fan and you could see mould on the window. We had to clean mirrors and toilets when we arrived as they were dirty. Previous guests rubbish was in the bedside drawers. The fridge had a drink half drank and there was an open box of ice cream in the freezer. Then we felt amused when there was a sign saying please leave the accommodation as you would expect to find it or there is a cleaning fee of €35. It would have been nice for the accommodation to have been cleaned from the start. Also the water pressure is just non existent. Which in the en suite bathroom you’d expect a good power as it looked like quite a modern bathroom. The wallpaper all around the windows was all peeling and damp to touch. With numerous cracks in the ceiling and balls of dust in several places. There were stains on the blankets on the beds which obviously wasn’t too inviting. Also like previous reviews have mentioned I did not see a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm!

Close to beach lovely neighbors and was pet friendly
Little cold in evening but fire was lovely

Plenty of space and secure yard
None of the windows would close properly which meant the house was draughty..... Then to be told that use of oil heating was an extra charge was annoying. The only reason heating would be needed in summer was because the windows wouldn't close.
Also no electric showers, emersion heater is not a great idea when there is almost zero insulation on the hot water tank and pipes.
House needs windows repaired and hot water tank insulated in order wo avoid waste of energy.
Another concern we noticed is that there are no smoke or heat detectors in the house. Also no carbon monoxide alarm given the solid fuel stove in living room and oil burner in kitchen a C0 alarm is a necessity. Not to have these in place in a rental property seems very dangerous to me. Fireblanket access was also partially blocked by the fridge. A review of fires detection and safety is recommended!

Location was amazing for discovering the beaches on the peninsula.
Water pressure in the house was terrible. House is more old style than usual houses on booking.com as per photos but location more than made up for that.

Well, Mary was very nice and welcoming to us.
She left a lot of towels, which is great( we have 4 kids) . Fine big 3 bedrooms( 3 doubles, 1 single) , 3 bathrooms( 2 showers)
At this price for 6 days during the summer season, it seems to be good.
There are two beaches within 10 minutes by car.
The house needs to be replaced a few things. Shower power is very poor. There are no handles on the windows, so we can't open them.( The old cottage house needs to be fresh air). The house is a little bit cold.

Lovely host, cozy home, and most of all, dog friendly.
Not much locally so a car is needed but I didn't mind this!

Spacious and lovely cottage, great facilities, peaceful area, we really enjoyed our stay and sitting by the stove in the evening. Mary is a very friendly host. Mullet peninsula is stunning, beautiful beaches all around.

Host was nice, the area was quiet and peaceful with easy access to beaches in area. Was nice and warm
The fact we had paid 370e for the house and then to be told upon arrival that we would have to pay for whatever oil and heat we used during our stay but there was no mention of this before booking. I’d like to know what exactly does the €370 cover? Some the windows didn’t open and one bathroom window had one handle at all. Place needed a good dusting as the lamps beside beds along with the curtains in sitting room.

Amazing and beautiful location.
Friendly owner and neighbours.
Peaceful and quiet.
Great beaches nearby.
Cold and damp; very visible on some rooms.
Limited kitchen facilities. No cooker hood, difficult to open/close freezer as jammed in next to oven.
Windows either corroded open or shut.
Showers don’t work with warm water, or just a trickle.
Water pressure in general very poor.
Charged for oil and electric, no mention of this in booking.

Mary! We loved Mary! She is so lovely! She made us a scrumptious Swiss roll and left Tatyos for the kids, very much appreciated!
The house is fab, old style modern and the location is breathtaking! The nearby Elly Bay Beach was a favourite of ours!
Leaving! We would have stayed on if we could 😁

Unique location close to main beaches. Nice neighbors who showed us newborn sheep.
It was a bit cold but it is kinda expected from a traditional Irish cottage.

The house was damp and smelled musty. We had to clean the kitchen, heat and air the house. There was no extractor fan on the cooker. We couldn't access the bottom drawer in the fridge. The window handles were broken. There was rust on windows, lamps and bathroom accessories. We left the property early and booked into the local hotel. Overall experience very very poor.

Great location, lovely host
Being told we'd be charged for electricity and oil use. As it turns out, we weren't, but it made us very conscious throughout our stay of what we were using - quite the opposite of relaxing.

We loved the location of Leam Cottage. It is off the main road on the peninsular and there are houses around but I would still consider it remote, (coming from Dublin),which is what we wanted. You need a car to drive to the shops, pubs etc but the town of Belmullet is only a 10-15 min drive away. There is a small beach 30 seconds away that our kids swam in with wetsuits. Our kids surfed at Gloush and kayaked at Scotchport Bay and they loved it. The weather was a little chilly and the sea fog came down each night like a scandi noir drama. So we lit a fire every night with the turf that was supplied. If the weather had of been warmer and sunnier it would have been perfect but hey that's Ireland for you! .
There was very little we didn't like. An electric shower would have been great after the surfing as we had to put on the immersion and wait until the water heated up. Some hooks to hang coats would be helpful and easy to put up.
