Good and spacious room, clean and with a window. Not so noisy at night.
It’s really difficult to get away from here if you’re not familiar with the bus system. The only way to go anywhere is by standing on the big street and just wait and see if there’s a bus that can take you to were you want. The staff at this hostel is not helpful in any way and cannot speak any English almost. They seem to not even know what’s around in the area, and they certainly have no knowledge of any kind of transportation. There’s also in general no other tourist at all, so you’re very likely to be completely isolated here in this hostel.

The place is recommended! No smokey smell or any uncomfortable smell at all! The staff is kind and professional. She is kind enough to show me how to use the shower when I thought it's not functional. This place is nearby to restaurants and stores and clinic and the market that sells fruits and veggies! The restaurant is opened as early as 6 am! The evening market is located 200m away and it's behind the DIY building! Oh, and it's opened around 4 pm to 7 pm.
I woke up one because someone was using the washing machine/ shared bathroom around 3 am.
I woke up again around 5 am when the garbage truck was passing by downstairs.
Then again around 6 am when they opened the stores and restaurants. Can't help it, I'm quite sensitive to noise🤣 Oh, and the iron board need to be replaced. It was unstable and not safe to use.

Clean and comfortable up-to-date hostel.
The staff leaves at 17, and doesn’t come back until the next morning. You are just left on your own on the premises. It is not a problem - it is just a bit weird to be left on your own (and is makes checkin-times less flexible.

Nice little classic hostel. Lots of information on the walls about things to do around ranau. Small area if you see someone to hangout. Staff were helpful.
Not much really there's no staff after 5 so make sure you get everything you need before they leave. Shower head was broken but there are shared bathrooms so just used those.

The private double room was great, comfy bed, good shower, good WiFi, window for fresh air, AC. Coffee & tea available, small kitchen to use. Great price for a private room. I stayed longer than anticipated.
Their hammocks were broken, I was hoping to relax in one.

The check in was easy. If possible prepare an exact amount to be paid. They have online transfer too. The bathroom was super clean and the bedroom was clean too. Perfect place for solo travelers and backpackers in Ranau. Strongly recommended.
Can't say didn't like but can improve on the privacy part in the bedroom. Great if can provide some kinda curtains or blinds for every bed for some extra privacy.

beds were ok, room was good size, shower and bathroom good size, facility inside is pleasant.
we came at 5:15 pm and no one was there to check us in- sign said check in until 4:45 pm only. no one was there, we called and called the contact numbers, no one ever answered or returned our calls or messages left through booking. we had to find another place to stay that night (that was really gross) down the street. do NOT book unless you absolutely will be there before 4:45 pm. they will not make exceptions, arrange for “late” check-in or answer or return your calls or messages after this time. next night we came for the rest of our reservation, they refunded some of our money from previous night. they don’t have a water filter, expecting you to buy plastic water bottles, just a hot water kettle and some industrial large plastic jugs they have non-filtered stored in (presumably for the kettle). we came back after the day and there was no running water in the whole hostel and once again no one there after 5pm and once again no one to answer phone calls or messages despite them leaving a number for “after hours.” we had been on a long muddy hike with no way to take a shower or even brush our teeth or flush the toilet. I ended up finding those jugs of water, boiling some in the kettle and mixing some with the ingested water in the water bucket for the toilet and used that to splash a shower on. then boiled some more water and brushed teeth etc. we still ran out of jug water and had to take one to the water dispensers and pay to fill it up ourselves as the staff did not refill the jugs and simply said it was a city-wide problem when they got back to us the next day during business hours. they also don’t know anything about busses or transport, except for one private transport they have to recommend. it’s a kind of depressing town as well and I wouldn’t recommend even staying anywhere in the town. find a hostel at Mt Kinabalu (we didn’t realize they had hostels onsite there) or another nearby town.

Clean and comfortable room.
Staff were not helpful at all. They couldn’t tell us any information about buses to KK or the mountain - very unusual for a hostel that is located for getting to the national park!
On arrival we rang the buzzer 8 times and still couldn’t get in. Turns out that we also had to undo the bolt on the inside of the gate but we weren’t to know. The receptionist was sat upstairs and could hear we were struggling to get in but didn’t come to help even though she wasn’t busy! Staff leave at 4-5pm so if you have any issues there’s no one to help. The wifi went down and we tried to contact the number at reception but couldn’t get through and didn’t get a response on WhatsApp until the morning. No idea what we would do if there was an actual emergency!

I like the place. Easy to find and near to place to eat/groceries.
I think everything was okay. You get what you pay.

I didn't spent much time at the hostel but the staff was helpful, good wifi, everything was clean.
The beds made lots of noise.only one plug in the room.

great location in the center of town, good value for money, clean comfortable rooms. friendly helpful staff.
The reception desk isn’t manned in the evening- but the staff were attentive when I messaged them.
This isn’t a sociable hostel, there seemed very few people staying here when I was there- not much atmosphere.
