Central location great spot for touring Edinburgh. Quiet and friendly staff
Very dark, no natural light. However that's part of the charm. Lives up to its advertising

Location
Poor value for money. Service could be better. Disappointing issues with room facilities.

The staff were amazing and couldn't be more helpful, they amended our room as we were not aware when booking that our bed would only have one side to get in and out of which does not work well
We were not aware that the room had no windows, it was very hot and a bit claustrophobic because the room was very small, we also had a lot of luggage so had almost no floor space either. There was no natural light and the lighting was very dim so being able to see into our bags was a struggle which is a shame because the room itself was beautiful but these are quite important factors!

Cool, fun, funky hotel.
Bed was uncomfortable. It is an old bed with a huge dip in the middle.

The staff were amazing - hotel is very quirky a change from the norm which was a change. The bed was very comfy and room is bijou but well designed. Nice touch was getting a glass of prosecco whilst checking in.
Getting into the bed - there is no room at the sides for climbing in.

The theme of this hotel is truly a unique experience. Staff were helpful and friendly. The bar we comfortable.
The toilet seat!!!!! The fridge had an odour.

Få alternativ i frukostmenyn.

The staff and thier service was the
Only good thing.
Heating on full wack no fan given, both myself and partner sweating throughout the night. Room stunk of alcohol when we first got in. Not a window in sight and room was tiny. For a price north of £400. You are taking the absolute p*ss

Not much. It is really a poor attempt to create a ‘special’ hotel.
Rooms have no windows, all is dark and dusty.. Bar was full of old people and no vibe at all.

Great location, staff, food and drinks. Lovely ambiance.

Great location.
Atmospheric room.
I felt very mis-led and my expectations of the hotel were definitely not met. The reality of the building, room and 'cocktail lounge' was extremely disappointing.
The breakfast hamper was poor quality, rather stale, only lukewarm and very disappointing.
For the price I paid, I expected: excellent service; at least some complimentary water/biscuits/enough tea & coffee; some UHT milk (there wasn't any); use of a bathrobe and a comfortable bathroom (not a tiny wet room).
The room was tired and in my opinion, only met adequate levels of cleanliness.

Excellent decor and cool attentive staff. Nothing to much trouble, and you can relax and enjoy the decadence of the room 😉

Not much at all
The room was so small I got claustrophobic after the first night.
No window and I could touch each side of the room with my arms
Overly hot with an air conditioning so loud it was hard to have on
You are paying for the decor that only works on a large space
Wouldn’t not recommend

The atmosphere was amazing. It’s a cross between a sexy boudoir and The Continental from John Wick. The staff bent over backwards to help us and were exceptionally. We’ve already arranged our next visit in the summer. Highly recommend getting the Famous packages they are well worth it and make the experience a lot more special. The girlfriend said I did a good job and I get a gold star. 😁

rooms a little small, quite pricey

4th time staying here, it's the little touches that make a stay here unforgettable. Friendly staff and beautiful rooms - I wouldn't stay anywhere else

Good location, right in the heart of the old city. Amazing rooms with over the top deccor
Downside of the location was that it was a bit lively on a Saturday night. Staff varied from super friendly with big smiles to offhand to the point of rudeness. The room wasn't clean. You had to wipe your feet before getting into bed to get the bits off and there was a funny smell in the bathroom when we arrived.

A quirky and very well designed boutique hotel. Very stylishly designed, great staff and lots of well thought out extra features included (like a breakfast hamper, "milk and cookies" if you want them in the evening, a £10 bar credit).
There is no avoiding it, the room was tiny. It was in some ways well designed (deliberately modelled on the Orient Express apparently, but I have travelled on that and other than colour scheme there is not a lot in common). It had one of my biggest hates though: a double bed only accessible on side, so one person has to climb over the other if they need to use facilities in the night.

Super Comfortable, quirky opulent decor, amazingly easy check in/out and perfect location, excellent facilities, friendly efficient staff, delicious breakfast hamper and phenomenal extras such as the Prosecco and milk and cookies!
Small negatives which didn’t hinder our stay but toilet didn’t flush properly and bathroom could’ve done with a shelf for toiletries. I would’ve liked a kettle and some milk in fridge.

The House of Gods is a well presented and sumptuous environment with pleasant staff.
Sadly, we found our room (106) to be very hot and was sweltering overnight despite running the air conditioning. I went to Reception on the first night and asked if there was a fan that we could use, but sadly there wasn't. The receptionist said that she would pass my comments about the hot room on to her manager. We continued to be cooked for the duration of our stay. Upon check out, I raised this issue with another member of staff and also pointed out a couple of other issues with the room, one of which was that the refrigerator wasn't working at all and that the milk provided for breakfast was completely curdled. Again, I was asked if I would like the manager to get in touch and I said yes. We checked out five days ago and I haven't heard a peep from House of Gods. It was a relatively expensive stay and I would have liked to leave a more positive review, but I feel that there was a lack of attention to detail and a poor response across the board to our concerns. Ultimately, two very hot and uncomfortable nights left us feeling like our stay in Edinburgh was exhausting.

Staff were uber friendly, we were made to feel very welcome. Staff were on hand to have a laugh and that made our day. We were a group of friends but we enjoyed the opulence of our room. Thanks to Jock and Tio for the patter and chat!! Breakfast was amazing, Brolls Bagel masterclass. What a great experience ☺️
