The hotel was lovely inside and out. The staff were exceptional - very welcoming and friendly. Great car park.
Breakfast - the choice cereals, juice & fruit were too limited and the table they were set on, was too small. But the hot food we ordered was lovely.

Breakfast and evening meals were outstanding and choice of drinks and cocktails were amazing.
No negatives

Comfy beds. Beautiful dining room and bar area.
Poor service. Towels not changed, rooms not cleaned after first night of stay. When we complained there was a long delay before we got fresh towels but the room was still not cleaned. Reception frequently unmanned and difficult to find help.

The atmosphere and the interesting decor . Not a formulaic corporate style but really reflected the hotel’s history. Nice touch to have the book about the history available in the room
Staff were professional and friendly
Apart from a large group of noisy women- there was nothing to dislike !
2.5
Room was comfortable and well equipped.
I informed the hotel I have to have a gluten free diet. Although complimentary, a little bit more thought could go into the biscuits etc in the rooms..!! I had confirmation that the menu had plenty of G/F options, it actually came apparent after trying to order my food in the restaurant that there was only one dish that could actually eat, and it’s a good job I like fish!!! One desert doesn’t really cut it either.
4.5
central location, excellent staff
being in the annex with poor weather walking across can be challenging

The hotel is a fantastic balance of modern (bathroom as an example) and traditional bedrooms. we stayed in the Jane Austin which was really well presented, with a nice refurbished bathroom. Breakfast had a great selection of full English, eggs Benedict, cereal, fruit etc and the staff were so friendly and welcoming!
A tiny negative was the drink pricing. I would say that it was above average for what we had, however this does keep the hotel and public houses separate so not the end of the world. The bar also closed when we enjoying ourselves so maybe that could remain open later for residents?

Recently refurbished, really well done. Comfy beds, well stocked bathrooms and good shower. Restaurant nice and relaxed atmosphere. Staff all really friendly and helpful. Nothing seemed too much bother. We were in the main building rather than the coach house over the road. Lovely to have the time to relax in the downstairs area.
That we were only there one night!
