Amazing

The location … the hotel is surrounded by trees and a golf course. Very beautiful and peaceful The staff … very friendly and professional The large spaces … a hotel built in the sixties with large rooms, large corridors, lots of space for dinjng inside and outside. The food … excelent in all 3 restaurants. The large swimming pool … good for swimming

The hotel lives on it past , could do with updating Some staff run this hotel as they are very friendly and helpful , unfortunately without these the hotel would not be open The pro shop staff are unhelpful at the best For a five star hotel they charge for everything which is short sighted , we have stayed in hotels all over the world and for what they make from small money they will loose customers . A lot of loyal customers for 20 years plus say the same

Flexible and supportive in restaurant and breakfast room to food intolerances

the 2nd cut of the grass on the golfcourse was so high that you would lose your ball which is not normal for a 2nd cut.

hidden gem, old world charm, not perfect but a great escape from reality

old world charm, the staff, wildlife (for bird watchers an excellent hotel) saw a Hoopoe for the first time, no chance of seeing one in the UK these days.

the resort course needs to be tidied up, appreciate there has been a drought but no excuse for poor signage or tatty look

This is a tired facility that is not keeping pace with better, more modern hotels in the vicinity.

Friendly staff at the golf centre.

Poor check in experience - Pedro was a little over familiar and came across a little arrogant. They seemed very keen to tell us how busy everything was and created a negative expectation for our holiday on arrival. All we wanted was a warm welcome and a smile.

It’s a nice holiday hotel with friendly staff. Their breakfast has many varieties.

It’s a nice holiday hotel with friendly staff. Their breakfast has many varieties. It’s next to the bus stop to Lagos and Alvor, so easy to get a bus from there. I liked their balcony as well.

The air conditioner was too cold in the night to me. Good that they had an extra duvet so I grabbed them at night. They seemed not have a kettle so we couldn’t make a tea. I was drinking decaffeinates coffee instead.

Still has a wonderful traditional charm

We have stayed at Penina for several years. A few familiar staff still remain. The new staff need training properly including reception and the buffet breakfast. The hotel is in need of renovation especially the outside where there is missing render. The swimming pool needs to be retiled. Public areas need to be refurbished especially the bar, reception decor and furnishings…..

Decent pool, nice grounds, good breakfast, reasonable price.

A tired and run down property. Some staff friendly, others quite rude. Restaurants were slow and didn’t give you what you ordered.

An excellent hotel with an old colonial feel to it. Plenty of space and many sitting out areas.

Great breakfast, although a little less organised than in previous years. Pool, fantastic, one of the best pools ever. Room, designed in the sixties they are a little tight, but with care they are very adequate. Good maid service, good comfortable bed,
