Nice place pool was great to relax in
5.0
We had a wonderful time. The beach was a quick and easy walk (maybe 5 min), and the walk to the Duck boardwalk was slightly further but pretty easy as well...maybe 10-15 min. The beach was beautiful, and the sunsets over the sound were stunning. There is a very nice, huge outdoor pool, a tennis court right outside of the unit which families used at dusk to play catch and other activities, a sand volleyball court, shuffleboard, ping-pong, a soccer field, and more I probably didn't notice (whatever sports gear you bring you'll probably find a way to use it although a few things are provided). The newly renovated club house has an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, gym, and game room with TVs and places to lounge. The fact that sheets and bath towels were supplied in this unit was very nice, as many places in OBX don't provide those. Some of the pillow shams and blankets in the bedrooms appeared stained... hopefully they'll be switched out for next season. The internet wasn't great, but David promptly got that resolved for us. Overall we recommend this place because it's so family-friendly and there are endless ways to keep everyone entertained.

Nice indoor and outdoor pools and game room.

My family spent a week at the house in Duck and it could not have been better—very short walk to the pool and beach, tons of things for the kids to do, and a nice walk to the boardwalk. We will return!

Nice condo with plenty of room for our group of 5 adults. Beach & pool are very close walks (pool 5 minutes & beach 8-10). Sound side & town of Duck are less than a 5 minute drive. Nice community with many activities available We really enjoyed our week!

Overall a good place to stay. David was very prompt with response to questions and issues. He was easy to deal with and wanted to be sure we enjoyed our stay.

Was a nice space for small family. Unfortunately, the indoor pool is not open or ready, and there is no game room available due to that construction. The complex is dated, and tennis courts are old but ok. I imagine this is a nice place if you spend all your time outside on the beach, but for off-season, it is not a great space for indoor time. Needs a bit of maintenance (screen door, shower door, lightbulbs in kitchen) but overall good space.

I have been coming to Duck since 1998. It has always been my home away from home. David is such an amazing host and always answers when something is needed. Barrier island is a nice resort because it has everything! Love the shops along the boardwalk! The weather wasn’t the best but my husband and I still had a lovely time! We will be back in June and can’t wait!

It was great. All family had their space. We plan to return next year. Resort was very nice.

The unit is on the eastern side of the complex behind the tennis courts. You walk up an outside flight of wooden steps to get to the unit. Once inside, the 1st floor has the foyer, laundry room, bed room with 2 bunk beds, bedroom with a queen bed and bathroom. A set of stairs takes you to an open concept living room, dining area and kitchen. From the living room there's a sliding glass door leading to balcony with a distant view of the ocean. The balcony is close enough to faintly hear the waves. The screen door needed some attention. On this 2nd floor is a master bedroom with king-size bed and bathroom. General cleanliness was ok. Though I would personally find another cleaning company. The bathrooms are dated and show their age. The owner said he has recent plans to upgrade the bathrooms. The kitchen appliances and decor are dated and need some upkeep addressed. This was a mid-September booking. You should expect to see some freshening up needed like painting. The location of the property is pretty good. It was about 5-10 minutes to walk to the beach. The sunrise is truly spectacular. The boardwalk in Duck is on Currituck Sound. It's (boardwalk) just up the street from the main entrance to Barrier Island Station. The sunsets there are beautiful. Duck, NC is such a neat little town. This property is in a good location to access all that Duck has to offer. Price wise, I think the property is worth it.

PROS
Great location.
Great amenities.
Manger is very responsive
CONS
Bathrooms needs updating
5.0
One building away from the non-crowded beach. Large pool and outdoor activities (e.g. outdoor ping-pong, giant chess, cornhole) at the location.
As with most of the OBX, there are tons of activities to explore ... most without leaving Duck and Corolla. Went parasailing (Duck Parasail) and rented jet skis (North Beach Watersports). Took in a tour of the wild horses (Corolla Outdoor Adventures) and the zipline park (Corolla Adventure Park). And my kids got a lot of use out of the 8-day vacation pass from H2OBX Waterpark.
Between the beach, pool, activities and restuarants we were barely inside the condo.

I want to thank David for letting us stay in his cozy beach condo! We loved the close proximity to the beach and “downtown” Duck. The condo is just as described - with character and beachy vibes! Perfect for our family of 4!

Property was perfect. Close walking distance to the pool and beach. 3 large rooms was plenty of space for the whole family. Location is so close to shops and grocery. 5 stars all around. Plus the property manager was very helpful and answered any and all questions basically instantly. Wonderful vacation!

Location and all the things to do at the property was excellent! Everything with the condo was great except the wifi connection was bad. Overall a great week and a great place to stay!

This was a great location for families because there was a lot to keep us busy- The beach, pool, ping pong, shuffle board, etc. We had a lot of fun finding crabs on the beach at night. Upon arrival, we were missing a lot of supplies like a kitchen wash cloth, towel, dish soap, paper towel, toilet paper, etc. You probably want to bring extras. The owner had the cleaning company send over supplies the next day but we already bought things by that point. The wifi was inconsistent but it seemed that way in other units too. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies. All in all, we had fun and the unit accommodated the 7 of us easily and we enjoyed our stay.

Owner is making nice upgrades to the property and it was much cleaner than some of the other places we have stayed. We had a few questions which the owner answered within minutes. Would definitely recommend.

Had a great time. Great location, nice place. Did have problem connecting to the internet but I don't care about that while on vacation.

This is our fifth time at Barrier Island Station and our second time renting this condo. The owner continues to add upgrades and is extremely responsive to any and all questions. The unit is well stocked with pretty much everything imaginable from kitchen to pool accessories. The location is excellent and very convenient to the boardwalk, shops and great restaurants as well as other areas of “the Banks”. We will reserve again.

This property was a close to the beach, the boardwalk and most of the sights in Duck. We loved getting in our morning walks and exploring the area. The property was spacious and had a fully stocked kitchen. There were some cleanliness issues - there was old hum on one of the bedsides and the towels were threadbare. The place has some updates but still needs some work in the bathrooms. Overall we enjoyed the area and our stay.

My husband and I wanted to get away for our anniversary and this was the most perfect place for us. The location was amazing and so many shops, food, and so much more! We definitely will be back!! David was such an amazing host and always made sure we had everything we needed! Highly highly recommend this place!!!

This was our second visit to Duck, NC. We loved the location of our unit. It allowed us to bike ride to downtown Duck for shopping and dining. The unit was very comfortable and clean. Our only minor complaint was the lack of table on the deck. We would definitely come back.

This was my first rental home experience of little get together with me and few of my friends as a weekend getaway before my wedding. The location from the beach was awesome and can’t complain about that. Overall good experience! Definitely would recommend

My family and I stayed here for 4 nights and it was the perfect location! We could see the beach from the deck and even saw whales swimming one morning! The complex had a great pool and tons of activities for the kids such as a giant chess set, volleyball, tennis, ping pong, shuffleboard and activities that were led by a member of the complex. It was a 5 minute walk to the beach and close to everything in Duck. The townhouse was a perfect size and the bunk beds were nice and big for the kids. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for the week. Highly recommend!

David was very responsive to requested items that were not left by the cleaning company. Our fridge needed service and David had it repaired immediately and offered to get us a new one. The location to the beach, shops and restaurants was perfect. We would stay here in the future

Make sure you bring toilet paper, none in either bathroom, no paper towel, no basic cooking needs, salt & pepper, pan spray, kitchen towels, only 2 bath cloths for the bathrooms, no hand towels. Owner said housekeeping would be delivering supplies, she never showed up, required additional trip to the grocery store. Had to contact owner for door code & wifi, he thought he had sent the info. Unable to sit on patio, infested with ants. We were very disappointed for the amt of money we paid to rent this condo. We actually left a day earlier. The pool is very nice. The beach by the condo is packed with chairs & umbrellas to rent by the week, very expensive. It was difficult to even find a spot to sit.

Excellent location and wonderful amenities!
Owner was very responsive excellent location and wonderful amenities. House was fully stocked. Reason for 4 star on cleanliness was due to very yucky dirty hot pads in kitchen. Small recommendation - would be nice to have table on deck. Aside from that wonderful rental and would absolutely recommend!!!

Great stay at Barrier Island
We rented the unit for 4th of July week to be with our extended family who owns a time share there for that week. The condo was comfortable, and we enjoyed the great views of both the pool and ocean from the kitchen windows and balcony.
The ceiling fan in the upstairs master bedroom was not working, but the owner had provided a large fan to make up for that. It kept the room cooler, but having the ceiling fan fixed would definitely be optimal.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the condo, and the pool and beach access was just right. We also enjoyed many of the shops and restaurants in Duck.

The location was great with good access to the ocean and pool. Very family friendly

Great location
Unit is the perfect location to the tennis courts and pool. So many activities for kids like shuffle board, movie by the pool night and games for kids. Deck off of unit had partial views of ocean and pool. Pool is huge and beaches were not overcrowded especially for the week leading into July 4th. Owner was courteous and made check in so easy. Very Close to duck water front shops about a 5 min drive. Great location.

The condo was great. Exactly like the pictures. The beds were so comfy and the granddaughters loved the bunk beds. It was a great trip.

Right near the beach and great value
Unit is spacious and bright. Full kitchen and good size dining area. Nice balcony off main area is a great place to have a morning coffee. Upper unit means a nice view. Short walk to a beautiful beach and even shorter walk to the pool, tennis courts and other amenities. Duck is a charming town with pretty much everything you'll need. Just a short drive to other towns along OBX. Owner was very responsive over VRBO chat. Unit is good value for the money and we'd love to visit again.

Everyone had a great time. Nice access to the beach and many amenities to keep the boys entertained. They especially loved the shuffleboard and pool.
