When I checked in, the electric blanket and the heater were already on in the bedroom, that was such a sweet gesture especially because it was freezing. The staff were really sweet and accommodating.

The location, proximity to my business meeting venue.
My room didn't have a dressing mirror and the mirrors in the bathroom are small and high for an average to short person. Please do something.

good
1) There was no soap/bath gel in the shower; the container was empty maybe best take it out if it does not serve a purpose to avoid a situation where guest enters the shower thinking the container has the bath gel yet there is nothing
2) The shower taps are not mixing well; either only too hot water or too cold water comes out there is no middle temperature so the guest has to withstand the extremes🤨

I liked the location and the inside parking facilities. The wifi was also strong and the staff was EXCELLENT. They felt like family.
1. The breakfast was a major disappointment. The 3 pieces of fruit on a side plate was disturbing.
2. The breakfast was also late and I had to go lecture on an empty stomach. If the Guesthouse has a system of asking us what time we need breakfast by, honoring that is key. I don't know anyone on the 17th who was pleased at the major inconvenience.
3. The DSTV didn't have the normal channels and I ended up watching the news.
4. My electric blanket stopped working when I returned from my 17th August lecture and I reported it the following day because I'd had a very busy day and morning after. When I did report this to the lady at reception on the 18th, she responded in an annoyed tone as mentioned that the owners had been there fixing things and I should have let them know earlier. I explained to her the schedule I had, which I didn't have to. But the bottomline is that i didn't book there for housekeeping services, I had no business being told that.
5. The lady messaged me on the 19th and I quote 'What time are you leaving tomorrow's?....Which I felt was rude as there was no greeting and above all, due to the lack of context felt like I was being kicked out. She only explained when I was checking out but it's very uncomfortable to be asked what time I'm leaving as if I hadn't paid to be there.
6. The rooms are also very close to each other and I recommend that room 5/6 beds not be placed opposite each other to protect each guest from noise (unintended) coming from the rooms.

The location was great - opposite the entrance to the university and right on the main street with secure private parking. There was some noise from late-night revellers but not too much. Beds were very comfortable and the bedrooms were restful. The property felt totally secure.
The bathroom was a little small.

Excellent location, staff was extremely helpful. While there are challenges in Makhanda city with water and electricity, the hotel had good backup plans. Breakfast by a warm fire each morning was a special treat. And the building has historical significance: this was the home of Piet Retief.

The bed was comfortable and big enough. Hot water in the shower was available. Overall, the place was exquisite!! Very neat too 😊

Exceptional accommodation.
The room was very comfortable, the bed was wonderful, wide, very good mattress, electric blanket and with the possibility of putting some more.
Heating in the room.
Good bathroom with shower, clean and soft towels, shower gel and shampoo.
Possibility of making tea or coffee, electric coffee maker and every day 2 bottles of water were replenished to drink.
Rala, the girl at the reception was a sweetheart, friendly and available, always asking if everything was ok and if I needed anything else, and always ready to answer any questions I had.
The cleaning staff were extremely attentive and friendly.
Breakfast was very good, and as it's winter, next to the fireplace, it tasted great.
Right next to a Major Fraser's restaurant where you can eat very well.
I 100% recommend this accommodation, whether for the accommodation, the friendliness of the staff, the comfort of the bed, and the location in a very friendly city.
The water pressure was low, but nothing could be done about it.

The location is good
There is a serious problem with their plumbing. Kept awake by noisy pipes for most of the night. If you have a room downstairs it is noisy in general. I also didn’t like the fact that my bathroom did not have a shower.

The location is really great and very safe. The security is top notch. The staff members are really sweet and wholesome. Since I booked an apartment I liked how they provided me with the necessary kitchenware. That as a whole made my stay really great.
There’s nothing that I didn’t like.

The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I had an early checkout on my last day and they walked me through the process of checking out and dropping off the keys. I received an excellent breakfast each morning. The room was clean and spacious. The location is excellent - I used to live in Grahamstown and I would have killed for that kind of access as a student. It's a very short walk to all the restaurants, shops and pubs in town. The free wifi is quite stable - I was able to do a bit of work while I was there.
I'm not sure whether it was just my room, but the pipes rattled quite loudly when other rooms used their bathrooms. The sound woke me up once or twice. I was also in a room that only had a bath and no shower. Not a disaster, but just not my preference.

The host was really attentive. After hearing that I am fully halaal she searched and found halaal sausages that she served with breakfast. I greatly appreciated the effort she put into her hospitality.

Window in bathroom meant we could hear noise from reception

Staff and the manager on the premises were all very nice and welcoming. They were always very helpful.
Towels were stale and smelly though they looked clean.
There should be hot water in flasks kept by the outdoor lounge given the frequency of load shedding.
Otherwise everything else was ok
