About this house rental
Welcome to the Himalaya. Built in 2017 mountain home at Kicking Horse Mountain resort. 4200 square feet of living space located in the prestigious Cedar Creek neighborhood. Heated floors throughout.
There are six spacious bedrooms. The upper floor has two large bedrooms with a king bed and a single bed in each room. Both bedrooms have large closets and ensuite bathrooms with vanity, large shower and toilet. Heated with baseboard heat. All bedrooms (except one) have large 50 inch flat screen TVs with satellite service for watching your favorite TV shows and movies. Both bedrooms have private staircases up to them and have balcony areas overlooking the kitchen/dining area and the bar/living room area.
The main floor has 2 bedrooms - each with a king bed, large closet and large 50 inch flatscreen TVs. Heated floors with dedicated controls. Right off both bedrooms are spacious bathrooms with large walk-in shower, vanity and linen closet.
Downstairs has two large bedrooms. One has a king bed and bunk bed with queen bed below and single XL bunk above and large closet. The second bedroom has a king bed and large 50" flatscreen TV. Both with heated floors and dedicated controls.
The main floor has two front entrances, a large deck that wraps around three sides of the home, two of which are covered and coat closets just off the front doors.
One side of the home features a huge sit up bar with stools and gigantic 75 in flatscreen TV with Satellite TV service, Bluray player and surround sound system. Two beverage chillers help keep both beer and wine at perfect temperature. There is a sink and dishwasher making it the perfect place for serving drinks and entertaining. Off the bar area is a sitting area with large sectional sofa with great view of the TV. Great for watching the big event. Providing the light to the area is an incredible wagon wheel chandelier with wine glass lights fixtures. Just off the area is a laundry room with high capacity washer and dryer. Heated floors.
The other side of the home has a large kitchen with large side by side refrigerator, dishwasher and a large sink. Fully equipped with everthing you could want to prepare a gourmet spread. A large sit up island had a large 4 burner stove with downdraft and large electric oven. Just off the kitchen is the large dining area with a 12 person table and chairs. Overhead is a beautiful wagon wheel chandelier with wine glass light fixtures. Heated floors.
Small appliances include microwave, food processor, electric kettle, popcorn machine, blenders (three throughout the home), gourmet espresso machine, french press coffee maker, drip pot coffee machine, coffee grinder, large and small crock pots, hand blender, rice cooker and large electric griddle. Full bar set both upstairs and downstairs allow for concocting the perfect apres ski libations.
Both the bar/living room and kitchen/dining area have doors leading out to the huge back deck that overlooks the Columbia River Valley and the Selkirk mountains. It has a large propane grill connected to the house propane so you never have to deal with propane tanks.
Downstairs is a large media and game room with large sitting sofa, 75 inch flatscreen with Satellite TV and Bluray player, Pool Table, fooseball table and wet bar. Just off of the room is also a large bathroom with shower tub, vanity and toilet and a mud room - perfect for storing you ski boots and ski wear after coming in from a long day of skiing. There is a large single car garage on the lower level as well. Just off the back entrance to the home is a large 8 person hot tub. Private and secluded with a great view over the valley. Perfect for relaxing those tired muscles after a long day of skiing. All rooms have heated floors.
This is the perfect home for a large group of couples, wedding parties, huge family reunion or a group of families coming up for a shared ski vacation (note we do NOT allow Bachelor or Bachelorette parties). Note we have NEST cameras at front and back entrances of the home which does encompass the hot tub area. No AC - there are only two homes at Kicking Horse that have AC. It is a ski area and generally does not require AC. We have fans in each room for those occasional summer hot spells.

We got this place with two other families with kids, 6 adults and 5 kids. We enjoyed the beautiful deck and view of the mountains. This place was great!

This was the perfect place for our family reunion. The space is nothing but luxury. We stayed in the summer, and although it was extremely hot (mid to high 30’s in Golden), we stayed comfortable, even though the house is not air conditioned. We made use of the hot tub, pool table, foosball table, sound system and the fancy coffee machine. All of these things worked flawlessly and were in good condition. We ate around the big table and gathered both inside and outside on the big deck. Very private. Highly recommended.

Overall, the house was great! We had 13 of us to celebrate my and my husband’s wedding. It fit everyone nicely and was very spacious. We were able to cook most of our meals which we loved and enjoy our time away in the mountains. We were there in the summer and was a warm 32 degrees and I did not realize the home doesn’t have AC. I understand you usually would not need it so I didn’t notice the listing didn’t say no AC. It was nice the home had many many fans to help though! Lastly, we were relying on the home stereo and unfortunately with the slow WiFi and the app required to use, it didn’t work for us. Either way we would book again if we were in the area!

King beds are two twins pushed together - not a huge deal but wasn't as comfortable.

Property is large and rooms as described. The cabin is older than advertised and we did notice some concerns. Stove top did not work properly, but we managed to use the bbq. Some minor fixes with a screwdriver would fix 90% of the issues we found. Besides obvious wear, had a great stay and would recommend to larger groups.

Another great stay with Kicking Horse Vacation Rentals. The Himalaya was perfect for our group of 16. Access to the cross country ski trails and the upper parking lot of the resort was a breeze. The kids really liked being able to sled in the yard outside. House was appointed with everything we needed and was as advertised. Looking forward to staying with Gabriel and the team again soon!

This rental sleeps a lot of people, and the cleanliness, beds and amenities are all great! What is not clear from the pictures is that this house appears to be a conversion from a duplex. As such, there is not really any place for a larger group to hang out together, the upstairs TV/video area is blocked from view from the couch due to the bar height, there is only one small sofa in the basement rec area, etc. The dining table area is great however. Some of the amenities could use some TLC/replacement (Fooseball, Pool Table, kitchen utensils - not a big deal. Overall a nice place to stay, and sleep a lot of people in comfort. .

this property was perfect for our group. ski in ski out. bedroom for all. we do a lot of cooking kitchen was very well appointed with plenty of space. we all loved skiing right to the back door at days end enter the combo, and into the ski room with ski hangers coat hangers,the boot and glove dryer is one like i have never seen 12 pair of boots and gloves. slip into your bathing suit and into the hot tub. haven't even gone upstairs yet. simply awesome. Chewbaka tours will absolutely be back. thanks again Gabriel

This property is beautiful with lots of bonus features like multiple head showers, lots of storage space, tons of kitchen and coffee appliances, multiple dishwashers etce etc. Views are great, the loctian is amazing. I histed a womens retrear of 10 women, plus myswlf and the chef.

Gabriel's place looks great on photos, but it looks even better in person! We were there in Aug 2023 and had a great experience overall.
The place was large enough to host the 18 (10 adults and 8 kids) of us comfortably.
Entertainment options in the home was great and it was awesome that there was a printer too which helped us in taking print outs of the Canada Parks pass!
Communication with the host was seamless! Would definitely recommend this place as a wonderful option to stay!

This is a wonderful property from which to explore Golden, Lake Louise and Banff. Our large family loved the multitude of sleeping and entertainment areas. It provided us the perfect launching pad to engage in amazing outdoor adventures and return to a comfortable home and enjoy our loved ones. We will definitely return!

Downstairs recreation room was excellent perk as well as hot tub, and ski room with boot/glove dryers. Multiple wash/dryers made for no hassle laundry for large group. The house was well equipped with bodywash products, toilet paper, paper towels, basic kitchen supplies including spices, coffee, etc.

The only thing I found not great was garbage disposal. Check out list said you can leave your garbage in the garage but when you go down to the garage there’s a sign that said to keep from extra charges to take garbage to the garbage shack which wasn’t overly clear on exact location.

Family Ski holiday
House was fabulous for our group, ages 1-68. Great location, ample space for our, large family. Adults could socialize downstairs with while children slept upstairs and on the lower level. Family room accommodated our large group, kitchen allowed for multi cooks and food prep. Pool table and foosball table were GREAT for the older children. We hope to return next year.

Gorgeous, well equipped rental!
We had a family get-together with 12 total, 4 kids, and this place was perfect. The attention to detail was amazing: labels on every light switch and drawer, separate towels and cups for hot tub, cooking supplies like spices and condiments, etc. We will definitely be booking again for our annual reunion!

Big place, many TVs
The Himilaya is huge. Certainly, a lot of space to move around. We found the kitchen very useful and well-appointed to serve our group of 8 adults. Our beds were comfortable and the location is right on Kicking Horse Mountain and was very serene.
There are some layout choices in the home that we didn't find as useful for our group as we tend to spend much of our time all together and this house seems more geared to groups that like to split up around the house - young families perhaps. Because of this, we weren't all able to sit together comfortably to watch a movie together. The outside dining table is in very rough shape and too small for a large group - so dinners were, unfortunately, all inside.
The advertisement is for high-speed internet - that was not the case. We had outages and slow speed regularly and a router reset was not able to correct. Also, don't forget an adaptor for your iphone as the home's speaker system is 100% wired and you need an aux jack to use it. We didn't have that which was a shame.

Disappointing experience
The chalet was not cleaned at all. It was dusty everywhere. Places such as the patio, bar counter, and living areas were not clean whatsoever. We also found dirty diapers and multiple hair balls on the main floor washroom behind the kitchen. There were also many problems regarding the wifi as well as the heaters as they randomly turned on during the night making our first night even more unpleasant. We come to Golden yearly and we’ve never encountered that type of experience. We will definitely not be coming back to this location. We are all very disappointed and dissatisfied.

Gabriel was a welcoming and efficient host and the home was in great shape tucked away nicely in the mountains yet close to the ski hill. We had a few less people than we could have given the current restrictions, however this property would be great for gathering with extended family in friends and we will be back to do just that in the future! From the drive in, to the location of such a Fabulous property, I can’t say enough good things about it. The house was very well equipped from bedrooms through to the kitchens. Enjoying a hot tub after a days ski is second to none. Truly a great spot, we will be back
