Grace Gifford was born in Dublin in March 1888.
In 1915 Grace began a courtship with Joseph Plunkett and they planned to marry. Unknown to Grace, Joseph was a founder of the Irish Volunteers who were planning a rebellion in Dublin seeking independence for Ireland.
By the end of Easter Week April 1916 the Irish rebels had surrendered and were first held in Richmond Barracks and then imprisoned in Kilmainham Gaol. The leaders were condemned to death by firing squad. When Joseph learned that his execution was scheduled to take place, he sought permission to be married. On the 3rd May 1916 at 6.00pm Grace Gifford entered Kilmainham Gaol. With a priest and two witnesses present she married Joseph. One can visit the chapel in Kilmainham Gaol where they were wed. This was a lovely place to stay. It was much bigger than I expected and had everything we needed. Comfortable beds and nice shower. Washer and dryer. If you are coming from Canada, bring an adapter for the electrical outlets.
The hosts were very helpful with a mix-up that we had.
A note the minifridge does not have a freezer section.
The location is far from downtown, but there are lots of great sights (museums, parks) within walking distance. Grocery store and pharmacy are close. Bus stops are very close, and the red line train stop that goes to downtown is within walking distance. We tried walking home from downtown one night when taxis were not available and made it most of the way, feeling quite safe, until we found a taxi (this is not typical, it was just a busy Dublin night). We also left at 2:30am to bus to the airport and the walking and waiting was safe (we saw a fox on the sidewalk!), and the bus was prompt.

A lovely neighbourhood with convenient shops and restaurants nearby. Easy access to the bus and Luas to get into the city attractions. We appreciated the nice shower, dishwasher and the washer/dryer.

The apartment was fine except 2 adults are not comfortable on the sofa bed. That’s where my husband slept and we are not big people. Two smaller kids would be fine. In the bedroom there is a double bed and a single bed.
Linens were clean. Kitchen was well equipped.
The bus ride to the city center takes 15 to 19 minutes depending on the time of day. It’s a straight shot to the Temple Bar area. We also walked from City center to the National museums and gallery. So the bus is ok but can be quite busy during commute time.
The Inchicore District is quaint and I wish we had spent more time there. We did go to the Brewery and pizza place, Rascals. Great beer and pizza, friendly atmosphere. Tessco (grocery store) is close by and it has a variety of premade food. A saving Grace after a long day of sightseeing.
All in all we were comfortable in this apartment. Rory picked us up from the airport which was a Godsend. If you come in via the airport I would ask to have Rory pick you up…

We had a great time staying in Dublin. They location of the cottage was nice and it was close to a bus stop to take you into the city center or the train to travel throughout Ireland. You can stay out and there are several nice pubs and groceries to supply your needs. Property was very nice and had everything you needed. We had a few things come up and the owners were quick to get us what we requested. Great stay!

What a wonderful week! The hosts were gracious and great communicators. We arrived in Dublin Airport and were met in arrivals by Rory, what a pleasant individual that made us feel so welcome in Ireland. The Gifford cottage was exactly perfect for two people. It us located within a short walk to the Luas Redline. This took us straight to downtown everyday and to Hueston station for our train trip to the Cliffs of Mohr. I could go on and on, just a perfect stay in a perfect way.

A small apartment in Dublin that was perfect for my wife and I. We drove from Shannon and the directions given were precise and easy to follow. The apartment was just like the pictures and was well equipped. We met Valerie, who provided excellent sight-seeing information as well as suggestions for day trips. Bus and tram in Dublin was close by and easy to use. Would recommend this apartment for couples or small families. We will book this again on our next trip to Dublin.

Not suitable for 4 adults. The sofa bed was far too uncomfortable for 2 adults, okay for young children. Also, you only had access to the bathroom through the main bedroom.

We stayed at Tigh Tirconaill Dublin Vacation rentals in October 2015 and now again in October 2016. This is an excellent location with the LUAS transit just a few minutes walk from the apartment. Then it's a 15 minute ride to City Centre. We stayed in he Padraig Pearse (larger) last year and the Grace Gifford Cottage (smaller) this time around. Recommend either one depending on how much room you need. As usual, Valerie was very accommodating and kept a close watch on us. Bottom line is that we would have no reason to look elsewhere for a place to stay the next time we visit Ireland.

Clean, cosy, great location and helpful hosts
I stayed in the Grace Gifford cottage for a week with my 2 friends, and we had the time of our lives. Our apartment was perfect for our needs. It was clean, and cosy during the cold winter nights. Tim and Grainne were most helpful at answering any questions we had. There is a secure parking area at the back which was useful as we had a car. The location was fantastic, as it is located so close to public transport. We used the Luas, with a stop just us the road, and Dublin Bus, which had a stop practically outside the apartment ta access the city centre quickly and conveniently. We were glad of these options as we found parking and driving in the city centre to be a bit of a nightmare. The area in which the apartments wee located is wonderful. It is maybe a 15 minute walk from Kilmainham Gaol (a must see) and is a 2 minute walk from a shop, a beautiful Italian restaurant and a pharmacy. The street was beautiful, with old style red brick houses and we felt safe walking home at night. We took a few day trips by car and were also happy to find that it was quite easy to access some of the main motorways from the apartment. They were all very well signposted. 10/10. Am looking forward to my next stay with you!
