The house was great. Location was amazing with the beach right outside. Plenty of room for all 5 of us.

Our kids always have the best time here. Wish we would’ve been notified of the construction of new homes on each side during our stay. We couldn’t enjoy the deck without listening to hammering, nail guns, and being covered in saw dust. There wasn’t much sleeping in for this reason as well but hopefully next year that isn’t an issue.

This is a beautiful place and a great family home. We had a great time and made some forever memories. Highly Recommend!

Great location, house nice and clean. Cookware needs to be updated, besides that house was great.

House is great, everything we needed was supplied for all 8 of us. Lots of beach toys, chairs for taking to beach. Nice community & great private beach area.

The location of the house and the grace of the house itself, is a wonderful find! This is our second stay, but will not be our last! There is absolutely nothing to compare.

I definitely see what people mean by “could stand for a little updating” but it’s not even something I’d note on a review because the location and the views outweighed any aesthetic lacking. This was our first visit to Dauphin Island and my husband and I already decided this will be our “home away from home” for as long as Tan Lines will have us! Can’t wait to make more memories here. We have 3 small children who thanked us the entireeee vacation because it was just SO cool and close to the water. I’m stuck between wanting to recommend to everyone and keeping it to ourselves!
Thanks again for having us.

House was in a great location! Enjoyed the view, sunset, and stars from the rear deck. Great access to the pool and ocean. Not too bad of a walk, but...
The house is older and not well maintained. Carpet and handrails going into the living area dirty! Kitchen was slightly wiped down, but the stove had food burned onto it. Dirty supplies in the kitchen. Master bedroom bedding full of dog hair and long brown hairs (Could not use it...). Sand and dog hair in the floors and baseboards. Swing outside broken.
We requested they bring us clean sheets and they were left outside in 2 bags on the drive by the door (no notice they were left).
Finally, feces on the master bath door frame. (Pocket door to water closet missing)
Loved the house, but be prepared to spend >3 hours cleaning the area you intend to live in. From what I see this is not an isolated event...
(People I spoke with were polite and responsive to calls)
(We were refunded the cleaning fee, full disclosure)
It is a shame. 5-10 years ago this house was a gem!

The house is right at the beach in a gated community. Pretty much had the beach to ourselves. It was clean and the beds were comfy. No complaints!

We throughly enjoyed our time at Tan Lines. It felt like being home as we had rented this home 3 years ago. It was a very relaxing vacation.

It was a great place to stay. Very clean. It has been updated since the pictures were taken. There are screens in every room. Dishwasher in the kitchen island. Cushions on outdoor furniture. 4 beach chairs and plenty of beach toys etc. Sometimes pictures can be deceiving but in this case the house is definitely as close to the beach as it looks if not even closer. Outside shower worked great. Every kitchen item you could possibly need, there’s even a blender, crockpot, stick blender, etc. really good ice maker in laundry room. Vacuum and broom which is so nice to clean up sand etc throughout our stay.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here. Like other reviews mention more towels and wash cloths would have been helpful as we had 4 couples staying. There were plenty of beach toys for the kids and only a few beach chairs. The beach was very nice and more secluded as this is a gated community. There is a nice 1/2 mile of beach with no houses on this stretch so it was like we had the beach to ourselves!! Downside would be bathrooms. There is one in the master and the other 3 bedrooms have to share one bathroom. However we would definitely stay here again!

Peaceful and private
If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay, this is your house. (Minus the workmen on both sides of us, but we know that could not be helped.) Yes, it needs to be updated, but it was spacious, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the view was just lovely out the living room to the sand and trees to the Gulf. We loved hearing the wind in the palms, watching the pelicans dive, and having a nice deck with some shade. If you want privacy and don’t mind a house that’s a little outdated, this is a gem. Great shower pressure in the master bath, ice maker on door of fridge, great blender, great grill…great ingredients for a Dream vacation! The natural beauty and privacy in a quiet neighborhood were the best part for us. Loved it; would definitely come back!

Great location!
We loved the location so close to the beach and views to the water! We highly recommend the the house stock more hand towels(0), dish towels(2) and beach towels(2). For a house that sleeps 12, the place needs just a few more basic bathing supplies. Plus, absolutely replace the sliding door as it is on its last legs and does not close without considerable effort! Otherwise, we recommend the listing explain what else they have for sand chairs(3) beach supplies(many) as this will help others know what to expect or need to bring. All in all, like others have stated in their reviews, it needs an update inside and out(late 90’s or early 00’s decor). But still did the job as a great place to get away!

Great sunrises and sunsets
Great location, lovely home. The trip exceeded our expectations.

Great house& beach. Forget Dauphin Island.
As advertised. House, beach deck, Audubon , Ft Gaines, Skinners Seafood all good. Captain Snappers, and Islanders were horrible and we walked out of both. Locals are scruffy and angry. Too bad. We were there in 1970’s and 10 years ago. All done with Dauphin Island. .

Great family-friendly, dog-friendly house!
I wish I could give them 4.5 stars. It's not quite a 5 - the bathrooms & kitchen especially are ready for an update. But it's otherwise a wonderful house. Awesome locations, very short walk to the beach, pet-friendly, & plenty of space to spread out. We also very much appreciated all the small touches from the owners (e.g. beach toys, utensils, games, etc.). We had a really great week & will look to rent this home again the next time we visit Dauphin Island!

Had a great time once we could get in the house.
We get there at 4pm to check in and the lock box is open with no key. Called multiple numbers for Vacasa and everyone we reached was on the west coast. They were having a hard time trying to reach someone local too. Finally, at 6:15pm a woman showed up with the key and tried to pass blame on us. Next time own up that you made a mistake.
Once we were in the house everything went great and everyone had a great time.

Wonderful
You couldn’t ask for a better location! Right on the beach in a beautiful home! The sounds of the waves and the frog singing all night long are memories that I will cherish forever. My children’s laughter and my wife’s happiness while were eating seafood yards from the water. Things weren’t 100% but you can’t expect 100% because the beauty of it all just outweighed anything that was negative. I’d like to write more but I can’t because if I do my allergies will will cause my eyes to water. My only advice would be to plan your meals in advance and stock up the best that you can so that you can spend more time on the beach and less time trying to buy groceries. If we came back 1000 times to dolphin Island I would want to stay in this house 1000 times more. One more bit of advice, take lots of pictures!

Wonderful Stay
My wife and I stayed at Tan Lines primarily for bird watching and beach walking. Birding was nearby and excellent. Beach walking was also excellent. We would definitely come back.

Birds, trees, wildlife
Fantastic area of the island, protected by a sandbar and teaming with a diversity of wildlife. The house is comfortable and well kept. Our family enjoyed a peaceful rejuvenating week.

Spectacular with extraordinary view
Was one of the most relaxing vacations in ages. Nice home, kitchen very well equipped with everything we needed. Comfortable and open with spectacular views of the Gulf. Nice gated community. Needs updates to furnishings, master bed needs an upgrade, mattress vet hard. Loved the home and didn’t want to leave.

Mediocre Home in a Great Location
The views of the Gulf are beautiful and we enjoyed time on the deck. The home is well equipped. The path from the home to the beach goes through a wet swampy area of tall grass. We could not pull the beach cart through it and did not want to walk through it because it is full of mosquitoes and we saw a snake in the yard and weren’t sure what could be in the water. We encountered numerous housekeeping and maintenance issues with the home. This home is not a good value for the price. The development is nice, we enjoyed the pool and the community beach access.

Summer at Tan Lines
All in all great vacation spot. Excellent beach access and location. Having a pool was a hit with the kids. There could be a few upgrades to the property like outdoor chair cushions but otherwise perfect for an active family!

Perfect family beach getaway!
My family fell in love with this quiet island home! Clean, well-equipped, very private...& an amazing beach view. We fished from the shore, swam in the community pool and grilled out on the back deck to our hearts’ content while listening to the waves. (Also enjoyed a great deep sea charter trip w/Capt Mike if you’re looking for one!) Really appreciated the owner providing books, games and pool/beach toys too. Every detail was taken care of...simply couldn’t have asked for anything more for our relaxing family vacay. We will definitely be back!

Great location but house isn't well maintained. Property manager, Vacasa, was not easy to work with.
This is a great location but the house was not cleaned as well as I would have expected and the amenities are outdated and need some upgrading. Working with Vacasa was very difficult as they take anywhere from 24-72 hours to respond to requests and do not return phone calls. I did get a speedy response when we wanted to add an additional night, but not for our other requests.

Christmas at Tan Lnes
We enjoyed our family trip to Dauphin Island at Tan Lines. The views and privacy were beyond our expectations. Some of the amenities could be improved but the home was fully supplied and very clean. Would hope to have the opportunity to return.

A Good Stay
This was our first time visiting Dauphin Island, and we found this place pretty last minute which was a plus for us. It seemed to be a new rental because of lack of reviews but from the pictures and the questions answered over email we went for it. First, it’s located in a gated community which to us was a huge plus. You have to have a code to access the neighborhood. The home is nice, and is typical of a beach rental. There is plenty of room inside and ample parking outside. The views are great and accessibility on the island is perfect. It could use some updating here and there on the inside but nothing that wouldn’t keep us from coming back again.

Tan Lines
Our stay at the house called Tan Lines was great. It was exactly what we needed and more. The cabinets were well stocked with essential items for any meal. We had wonderful full view of the gulf from the back deck. Cleaning up from all the salt and sand was a breeze with the outdoor shower and hoses both down stairs and on the upper deck. The furniture was worn and dated but comfortable. Plenty of seats and beds for everyone. We would love to go back again next year.
