The location is ideal, an easy walk into the town centre, its quite enough and TV is a decent size. Water is hot and bed is very comfortable. The sofa has been replaced so a wee bit better, though a chair may be better than the one there
We arrived and the place was very hot, Had to open windows as could not find the thermostat, when I did find the wireless thermostat, it was set at 27 degrees. No instructions for the heating. The fridge I thought was not very cold, tired to alter it, gave up as no instructions for it.
cleanliness lets the place down. Cooker and the baking trays are really dirty. worktops are sticky and drawers are also dirty. other areas also needing bits of TLC, bathroom has rusty cabinets, really dusty wardrobes, just generally looks tatty rest is not that bad, woodwork and walls etc could do with a paint, the blinds are a bit worn and broken in places, just a bit of maintenance needed
At least the sofa has been replaced, though a grey one I lifted the cushions, to find crumbs hairs and confectionery wrappers parking is a bit of a squeeze mainly due to one car not going fully forward, making getting into the allocated space rather tight, even worse getting out if the other adjacent spaces is occupied
the outside area really lets the place down, the balcony has artificial grass matting. it has filthy furniture,, and it don't look sturdy. Not a place you would want to sit as covered in cobwebs and has a net spread over the railings (no doubt for the pigeons) but still not very inviting. The patio area accessed from the bedroom to the canal side, is covered in weeds and again furniture though not as bad is still cheap and not sturdy. I see a previous review mention people can stare in. I see what they mean, when sitting on sofa in living area, and the curtains are open, they can see right in, some reflective coating would perhaps be put on glass, or simple net curtains ? there is blinds but closing them defeats having the view yourself
apparently the owners had it booked to get a longer clean after we left, as I presume since they offered us an extra night, it was not booked after we left. so be interesting to see later rewires

Great location, safe parking
The property requires a refresh, marked paintwork and radiators. Bathroom tiles and bath seals require work. Sofa in lounge uncomfortable, can feel the springs. Unable to open windows in 1 bedroom. Expensive as requires refresh

Location was amazing, so handy for the city centre and right on the canal.
Bed settee needs replacing (but owners agreed to address that)

Lovely house in a great location

Location , car parking , two toilets
Crumbs , broken springs in main sofa , lack of clear instruction for operation of heating , difficulty in contacting proprietor by E-mail , faulty door lock.

great location, very close to the station, easy walking into Chester and right on the canal.
Nothing.

the location being so central was great and the canal side setting thrilled our foreign guests. the beds were very comfortable and we had all the equipment we needed
we had real difficulty finding it on the wide busy road so having overshot it had to do two difficult u-turns and then had difficulty finding the car park. more detail than just sat nav references would have been good. the windows need replacing and some blinds.

Location perfect
better quality bedding and pillows, uncomfortable sofa and no tv in bedroom though advertised on website

The house was in an excellent location. it was great to have 2 bathrooms with the 2 bedrooms. The living quarters were very clean and comfortable.
The outside furniture was not good quality and we were unable to use it. In addition, there was a great deal of weeds in the outside area that needed attention.

it had a convenient central location, the house itself is very comfortable & clean.
we couldn’t find fault.

It was really close to the city centre. It was warm and comfortable. I didn't use the ensuite but my dad and his partner did, so it was great having a second bathroom. Having parking included was great. The kitchen was well equipped and it was lovely having a dining table. It was lovely and quiet. Having the separate sofa bed in the lounge which was comfortable so that I didn't need to share with my daughter was good. There was plenty of extra pillows and duvets in case things got even colder, given that the canal was frozen over when we arrived that was helpful.
There were so many instructions that although I printed them off I struggled to remember the amount of information contained in the 4 hours it took to drive there. The parking spaces are not very clearly marked out and as we arrived in the dark couldn't read the sign under the tree for the parking. I have suggested a solar light to illuminate it. We were also very nearly boxed in by other cars, I had about 3 inches wriggle room to manoeuvre and missed the gate by an inch so that was a challenge. The shower in the ensuite was difficult for my dad's partner, she couldn't turn it off. The key safe is difficult to see in the dark fortunately I had a torch. The bathroom doesn't have a lock on the door, so although I said leave it open when no one was in it my dad still walked in on me. The oven had settings that were difficult to see so it was hard to work.

Lovely property in a fabulous location with parking included (for one car). Owners checked in on our stay and there was a great book in the property with little tips and recommendations
If being picky, a few cob webs noticed when first entering the property

Excellent property, really handy for town

The location of this property is absolutely perfect. Just about 5-600 yards pleasant stroll to the centre of Chester, Chester Gate, with only one road to cross. Excellent pubs and restaurants with a very few minutes stroll. On site parking. Secure, quiet neighbourhood. There was nothing not to like about this venue.
One night, we stayed in to eat and everything necessary was there for the cooking and preparation.
And the contact from the hosts? Exemplary. They were interested in us and helped to improve our stay. I can’t fault anything about our stay.
And so did the canal boat owners, waving as they went past. We didn’t manage to hitch a lift though!

The property was in a wonderful location… perfect for getting to/from the station & in great proximity to the bars & restaurants! It was comfortable, spacious & homely. We will definitely be returning & would recommend to anyone wanting a weekend away in Chester!
It was reasonably priced and the owners were very accommodating with any requests we made.
Thank you

Firstly, Canal House was situated perfectly on the Canal which was just 1 minute or 2 walk from the centre. The canal view from all the rooms are amazing and very picturesque, I spent a good hour or two sitting outside the apartment. Could easily have breakfast/lunch or a few drinks there.
I found the whole place very reasonable in cost for a Saturday to Monday stay(this was Grand National weekend too). It cost us almost the same as what you would play for hotel rooms in Chester - but with this you get 2 double bedrooms, lounge ,1ensuite, another bathroom, kitchen, lounge, balcony, garden, canal view & parking and a perfect location to the centre.
There's a small balcony off the living room on the 1st floor and a perfect little canal side garden with table and chairs off the Ground Floor bedroom. We used both, especially when the sun was out and we needed to rest our legs after some nice walks around Chester.
The house was so spacious, it certainly gave us the WOW factor due to furnishings and lighting when we walked in.
The beds were extremely comfortable - the largest bedroom bed was huge (probably 2 queen beds put together) and the other bedroom looked like a normal double bed. It was very quiet and no noisy road noise despite being right next to the bridge.
My girlfriend was certainly impressed when we walked in and said a few times that she would like to live here. I would too!
I would not hesitate to stay here again, especially in summer months the little garden would come into its own,it was perfect in the sun in mid April!
As there are 2 double bed/rooms, i would consider bringing either friends or family with me next time as there's plenty of space, rooms, areas & utilities for us not to be on top of each other.
The owners messaged with very clear directions, access and (free & secure) parking instructions via booking.com and messaged mid stay to check all was ok!
Nothing at all. Just wish I could stay for longer.

The location was superb. Easy access to the town centre shops & bars, restaurants and the railway station. A good pub and Indian restaurant just across the street, what's not to like! Walk around the city walls & river also recommended.
