About this cabin rental
Our private woodland cabin is only 150 yards away from the beautiful West Seattle/Alki waterfront and 500 yards from the 10 minute water taxi to downtown Seattle. It features a King room, sleeper sofa, and a kitchenette.
Our 80 year old Tiny Tipsy Cabin is perfect for guests looking for unique beauty and convenience, without all the amenities of a hotel.
NOTES: Steps to House. Seclusion = No Internet & Weaker Cell Service.
The space
* Cozy, rustic, King bedroom
* Large claw-foot tub & shower
* Kitchenette w/sink, portable induction cooktop, coffee & tea bar, mini fridge, microwave & basic pots, pans, dishes and silverware
* Full sleeper sofa with sheets in living room
Our 80 year old historic shipbuilder's cabin is on a slight tilt, has running water, electricity, and most modern conveniences(minus internet). Lofted up above the forest floor, you may see as many as 80 species of birds (including eagles and peregrine falcons), as well as the odd deer or beaver from the rocking chairs on your front porch!
The Fairmount Gulch is one of Seattle's last preserved river ecosystems, and the lack of pavement means winters can be damp and muddy, so be careful walking up to the cabin. Once inside the sliding glass doors you'll find a living room with walls of windows that look out to the treetops above and the creek below. Our guests enjoy playing with the board games we provide, reading a book on the porch, and soaking in the antique claw-foot tub.
We don't have a TV, but we do have the iconic view Downtown Seattle, our famous ferries, and our resident harbor seals just 300 feet away down the private dirt road. Truly a home trapped in time, the Tiny Tipsy Cabin is everything this old harbor town once was, and is steps away from the thriving metropolis Seattle has become. Truly the best of both worlds.
Please Note: Cabin is lofted up among the trees, and requires walking up 25 steps from the parking pad to the front door. Our property is wonderfully secluded in the trees, but that privacy also means that we have No Internet service available & Weaker Cell Service.

We loved our stay. The fire and window bench were our favorite part of our stay. A great location to explore all that Seattle has to offer.

A perfect place for me! A little cabin, surrounded by trees with big windows everywhere and a wonderful windows seat. You feel like you’re deep in the forest. HOWEVER! Just a two minute walk down the road is the beach, the bay, and an upscale restaurant. The trip into downtown Seattle takes under 20 minutes. It’s the best of both worlds. Secluded and private, surrounded by nature, and just minutes from everything Seattle has to offer. I will definitely go back!

Cute little place. Provided a keurig but only had tea. No big deal just noting. Bathroom lighting is not great. Heating is hot as hades or cold. Hard to find happy medium with baseboard heat but to be expected. If you’re parking an SUV, plan to finagle your way out. Overall, I was happy with this unit.

Traveled for business and this property stood out for its uniqueness. Yes, the floor is tilted a bit. That was not a big deal for me.
I loved having this place to myself: one or two people is probably ideal. You're about 5 minutes from restaurants and retail, groceries etc. The commute into the city is pretty mellow depending on the time of day and it's a lovely view.
If you're looking for a spa/hotel/luxury hotel vibe, scroll on.
This place is a charming, cozy, and out of the ordinary. Let me bottom line it for you: You will feel like you're a million miles from the city, but you can see the skyline through the window, you're surrounded by forest, and the property is old and dated but well maintained with some key upgrades. If you're up for a bit of adventure and value location and character over a sterile, cookie cutter stay, this is for you.
Thanks for the great week, you guys. Loved every minute of my time at the cabin.

My partner and I had such a wonderful time! So relaxing to be surrounded by the nature AND so close to downtown Seattle. We loved being so close to the water but hidden from any drive-by traffic. It was honestly so perfect.

The cabin itself was incredibly homey and in a very convenient location near downtown Seattle. My spouse and I had a difficult time finding the location of the cabin but that was due to my inability to read the instructions given! Overall a fantastic stay and we will be returning.

My friend and I had a wonderful time in this lovely little cabin, near Seattle. The place is quiet, well-equiped And very accessible from Seattle.
We have little problem contacting the owner for need of sheets, but nothing bad happens. I Will recommand this place to any friends

This cabin was so special! It gave us such a sense of peace and nostalgia to be in such an adorable and relaxing place up in the trees. The bed was super comfortable and we slept a lot and read a book on the porch and felt like we were in a tree house. The location cannot be beat and we much preferred West Seattle to the downtown hustle and bustle. I would definitely recommend staying here! If you are a fussy type who doesn't love nature, stay downtown and leave this place for those of us who don't care about WiFi or TV. We didn't want to leave!

This was a property that was either loved or hated, according to the reviews.
I would like to bring a more measured view. Both my partner and myself were looking forward to staying at this property. The uniqueness of the location and the eccentricity of the property sparked our interest.
Our initial view was mixed, a lot of detritus around the property, with a feeling that it was unsafe. After spending some time there, we were charmed by the eccentricity of the house. Yet, the longer we spent in the house, the more it felt that the selling of the property of it being 'eccentric' was hiding a simple lack of investment. The property needs serious investment to bring it back to its original glory.
It was trying too hard to be charming and eccentric... but holes in the ceiling, a tub that had seen better days, mice and other fauna finding home inside, random ratty shoes being left around and broken windows, stretched the definition of 'charm' and 'eccentricity'. My partner liked it, his comment was, "at least there was a modern toilet, and we were not doing our business in a hole in the floor. " This summed up the stay.
Would I recommend it? Not sure... for one night, maybe. If you are fit enough to negotiate the 30 steps up from the parking bay.
But if you are planning on spending more than one night, maybe look for another place. Or be prepared to accept that 'run-down' does not mean 'charming' or 'eccentric.'

Location is perfect - quiet and tucked away but a short walk from beaches, the Water Taxi to Seattle, and restaurants. It is a tiny, rustic cabin with a tilt and several stairs - just be aware! It was perfect for us since we enjoy the outdoors and camping. The hosts provided lots of information and were accessible if we needed them. The cabin was clean and had the necessities. If we return to Seattle, we'd stay here again!

The Cabin was an Over priced Dump. Bathroom smelled of mold and dimly lt. Steps to entering to the cabin were covered with weeds or blackberry vines. Deck was dirty with piles of junk under it. The sofa/couch was dirty. The entry slider lock was broken making it difficult to lock the cabin. Parking was difficult for anything large than a small car. Windows would not stay open and the cabin was dimly lit. We enjoyed waking up to the screaming kids ever morning in the house next store. We also asked the owner for a check out of 11:00 rather than 10:00 am that was rejected. You would think that for the high price we payed, the owner, they would have allowed an extended hour to check out.
The only good thing good about the cabin was the location being close to Alki Beach. Hopefully Vrbo will remove this place from their listing. This was by far the worst Vrbo place we have ever stayed.

I mean awesome quiet spot. Quick walk to water taxi, but also super quick drive to downtown.. SO many restaurant options. Almost too many. Loved the spot. Wish it was a little cheaper, more comparable to other spots. But would definitely come back.

We had a wonderful stay! It was cute and clean, perfect for what we wanted. Great place to unplug and just be together. Felt like we were in the woods but were close enough to hop on a ferry to Seattle! Hopefully we will get the chance to stay again!

Enjoyed the best of all worlds. The cozy, rustic cabin is tucked back in a wooded area on a hill just above Alki Beach in West Seattle. Salty's and Marination restaurants are easily within walking distance. King County Water Taxi to Pike's Place Market picks up passengers at Marination dock. Easy access to interstate when driving to Tacoma or Seattle. Owner very responsive to questions. Loved it.
4.8
It was what I want. Clean, quiet, and comfortable. Being a short distance from the walking trail and the water taxi made it perfect. Will stay there again.
4.8
Cozy retreat close to everything we needed! Felt like we could get away, but still close to everything. Our dogs loved the bird and squirrel watching! Very peaceful spot. Eight minute walk to the water taxi to downtown. Great coffee shop eight minutes away too. Enjoyed walking along the boardwalk and taking in the downtown city views. Thanks for sharing this special place with us! We had a lovely and restful time.

Exactly as described. Well equipped for modest cooking. Really cool location. Definitely recommend.

We stayed here during the winter while snowing. The cabin was cold when we got there, but we started the fire and baseboards and it got warm and cozy quickly! Loved the location. It felt like we were in the middle of the woods with a gorgeous view of the woods out the front windows. This is an older cabin, but very comfortable. Loved that we could walk to Alki beach and Salty's restaurant. The covered parking was nice but a little tight/tricky to maneuver into. Loved our stay.

Check in was super easy! Check out was simple! It was clean. Cozy. Perfect for our week stay ❤️❤️ KY✈️

Partner and i reconnected long walks, by the ocean, playing board games, sitting on deck with amazing trees, etc and just relaxing experience We should've checked availability of ferry but still had a great Thanksgiving! Thank you!

Absolutely magical treehouse-esque cabin in Alki Beach. The seclusion is wonderful and the views incredible if you love a forest vibe. Even better, the waterfront and water taxi are just a short walk downhill which makes the location perfect for a quick pop downtown. 100/10 would recommend!
4.8
Was hoping for a cabin with solitude, despite being in the city….this is it!

Exactly as described. Great communication. Great location. Heater warms up me than yours expect lol. Will be staying again

Quiet, quiet, quiet! Peaceful, no through traffic. No distractions.
Thanks again for a wonderful trip.

How can I describe?
My husband and I live in Florida and have a love for Washington that’s hard to describe. Yearly we rotate Washington vs Oregon
The cabin? My husband says it’s a step back in time of Laurel Canyon as a early musician
The water taxi ( yes, walking distance) to Seattle was perfect. Why not? We grabbed a Kenny Chesney concert. Came back on the water taxi and talked about life on the porch Grab breakfast at the cafe by the water taxi. Breakfast sliders and a delicious Bloody Mary
The cabin. It was the little things. Sit on the porch and need a blanket? Yes, taken care of. Hot cup of tea? Yes! They had Yogi tea with assorted flavors
There is a small candle on the table ( with lighter) to bring on the porch. Again, little things
The bed. Perfect
Thank you for sharing your piece of heaven

We really enjoyed the "Tiny Tipsy Cabin". It is very quiet and secluded. It is literally a 5 minute walk to the water. Very cool.. Our only request for improvement would be to have a more workable shower curtain. We would stay here again if in the Seattle area.
