Great location, very quiet and peaceful. Close to good restaurants and coffee shops.
Power outages and potholes, but those were not in any way the fault of the owners!!

Penny was the most hospitable host I’ve ever met. This was a last minute booking and Penny went out of her way to make me and my whole family (6 adults and 3 babies) feel right at home. Gorgeous home, gorgeous location, phenomenal host! The only disappointing part of our stay was that we only had 2 nights stay there. 11/10 I recommend this property and can’t wait to return.

The house was neat, furniture complimented the country life. The fact that its not affected by load-shedding was a bonus.
There could be more pressure from the water in the showers.

Beautiful house, beautiful views. Gracious host, went out of her way to welcome us and return forgotten items. Well equipped house. Lots to do nearby.

Absolutely stunning!!! The location is perfect; easy access to the property and close to Howick and coffee shops/eateries.
The beds are super comfortable; gas stove; Nespresso coffee machine. Beautifully decorated; with so much attention to detail. Highly recommend The Mission House

Penny is an amazingly helpful and friendly hostess (who also provided us with delicious cake and bread!). This is the second time we have stayed at Mission House as it's perfect for family gatherings. It's spacious enough to host a large family or friend contingent without feeling that you are under each other's feet all the time, and the large sized pantry cupboard and the fridge/freezer combo, along with other mod-cons like dishwasher etc. mean that you really can settle in for a few days of relaxed bliss on their farm. Magnificent views of rolling hills, a spectacular light-show offered by a thunderstorm in the afternoon, and friendly horses and cows meandering around the house made for a deeply relaxing stay. The horribly pot-holed Curry's Post Road has been dramatically improved since our last visit, and new water pumps around the house made for a much-improved bathing and showering experience (the first time we stayed, we felt rather bad because the taps spewed water out rather wildly, so this was a big improvement). The location - because it is now more accessible to drive on thanks to road improvements - is also ideal for exploring the Midlands Meander, and nearby coffee shops mean that you don't need to go far for your early morning fix.
We absolutely loved our time at Mission House, but some advice for other travellers may be helpful:
* Wi-Fi is available at Mission House, but in our experience, we simply didn't manage to connect with it. I'm not sure if it's just a farm location issue or because there were 6 of us trying to connect, but you may end up using your (in our case also spotty) cell phone connections instead.
* If you have babies or toddlers, you'll need to be careful around the staircase, as there is an open side to it - not an issue for us, as our youngest visitor was 4 and told to be careful, but just consider it if you've got younger ones joining you.
* Instant coffee (and tea) are provided already, but there is a pod-type coffee-maker available, so bring pods if you want the fancy stuff.

Perfect location for exploring the midlands.
Loved that it was a working farm.
Kitchen facilities top class.

The house was beautifully styled, and very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed and matched the pictures perfectly. The views were stunning and it was central to the spots we wanted to visit.
The hot water tap in the kitchen didn't always work. There was a lot of spluttering, like there was an air bubble in the pipes. The downstairs shower overflowed into the bedroom once, after the second shower.

Loved the location - great place to stay if you want to do parts of the Midlands Meander. Also loved that it was pet friendly - fenced property so no issues with dogs getting out either. Great for mountain biking and walking and the accommodation itself was fabulous.
