The Staff were a delight. They were friendly, enthusiastic, and professional.

Location. Many hiking options. All inclusive food.
Golf course had no flags in when we played and course was a tad ‘rough’. Reception and rooms could do with an upgrade.

We spent our anniversary at the Cathedral Hotel. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay amazing.
They even offered us a wonderful cake. The food was exceptional with alot of variety. Facilities was plentiful.
The rooms do not have aircon.

A great selection of food at all meals. The waiters were efficient and friendly. Good facilities with comfortable bars and lounges. The rooms were exceptionally comfortable, clean, quiet, warm and great attention to detail. We stayed in the Executive Suites which have exceptional views, (if we hadn't had cloud).

All went well. Massage was awesome.
Found the staff a bit surly

Excellent public spaces--inside and out--for socialising, eating and admiring the view.
Good food.
Good mattress on the bed.
Decent mirror lighting in the bathroom
Space to keep clothes and toiletries
Hard pillows (I brought my own)
The rather rigid, not very warm duvet
The very small heater in a large cold bedroom

The food is always excellent, and the open fire in the bar and dining room most welcome!

We love the Berg, thus not having stayed at Cathedral Peak before, we booked an evening only enroute to the South Coast. Staff was accommodating and food fantastic. Accommodation super clean and although this is an old Hotel, it is very well kept.
They didn't have WiFi the entire time of our stay. We weren't informed of extra charges for Loadshedding and Park Fees. Tourism Levy was acceptable. They forgot to book us for golf the next morning and was at least rectified when we queried it.

The hotel is very very charming and you feel the history of that hotel in every corner. The surroundings are unique!!! Love it
Some of the Walks could have been marked better.

Accommodation was excellent- we had the honeymoon suite 🤗 Breakfast, lunch, dinner and the morning and afternoon teas at best was average compared to Champagne Castle. This being said- the room and staff made up for it…..
The road to the hotel must be repaired. Dangerous and carved in at various places. Some places in the hotel need som tender loving care to keep it’s authenticity

All meals were excellent. The staff were very friendly and polite and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and the generator ensured no long term interruption due to loadshedding.
A bottle of water in the room each day would have been nice. It was provided on the first day only.

Amazing location with incredible views and hospitality
Lighting in the bars and in the rooms. Invest in some soft lighting everywhere to create a cosy atmosphere

Setting is stunning / by far best hotel in the Berg ( in my opinion)
The staff are all so friendly - clearly enjoy their work.
Had one of the best massages at the wellness center ever as did my sister.
Food was delicious.
Rooms were a little too hot and on request to turn down the underfloor heating we were told that all of the rooms were in one system - opened the window which helped

Food was great, enjoyed staying in the lounge, reading and chatting to other guests, very good selection of short walks, the hotel has a charming character which I think is one of its main appeals, and of course an incredible setting; security guard by boom gate was very friendly, which was a good first experience as we arrived
Dessert options were fine but not excellent - quality of desserts could be improved, as well as quality of biscuits/cakes at tea time; better information regarding hikes etc when you book in, e.g. we didn't know you had to sign in for the guided walk; the security staff by the parking lot were fine but could be a bit friendlier, i.e. offer to help with bags or at least welcome the guests; room was fine, but finishes could be a bit smarter, and perhaps chocolates on arrival (i.e. those small touches that make it feel special, and not like the City Lodge)

Great amazing hotel located in the picture beautiful Drakensberg.
The golf course layout was extremely difficult to follow.

Wonderful location.

The hotel facilities are excellent. The golf course nearby is a true gem. The mountains are spectacular.
We got rooms that were very far away from the dining hall, pool and sports facilities. It is a large complex. If you are at the far end, it is a bit of a walk to get anywhere.

The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and the ground staff were really friendly and helpful..
The chalet was clean and comfortable although a bit run down but the views from the window were amazing.
The food selection was good, it's all buffet style which is understandable for a large establishment. The chefs were very friendly.
The receptionists were a bit rude and abrupt with us on arrival as apparently they had us down as arriving the day before even though our booking confirmation stated the correct dates. The key to our chalet at first didn't work so the porter walked back to get another key only for a chambermaid to come out of our room half asleep. The restaurant manager wasn't very friendly when we went down for dinner and he loves giving orders to floor staff.

Great location with many hikes options even with kiddies!
Facilities in general are great but the whole building looks a bit old (but well maintened) and and an old school athmosphere surrounds you.
A bit pricy for the quality of the service (the buffet is gargantuesque but we would have prefered more quality food). Staff are good but some are a bit 'absent'.It feels like the great era is over and more like a hotel factory than a family business

We loved the friendliness of staff , food, room and needless to say the views are amazing! Good range of things to do
Roads are somewhat dangerous but don't let that put u off. Facilities n decor could do with a face lift , everything seems a little tired now and the could do with a refurbished. However staff very good and the location awesome a good place for a holiday
8.0
The facilities and the food!
The hikes around the area and the general vibe of the place.
We loved the pool area.
The communication on Booking.com was not great. They replied to questions after we had already come and gone.
1 water bottle in the room over 3 days isn't good & no milk in the room fridge for coffee when you wake up - also, they should be using water dispensers instead of giving plastic bottles.
A suggestion is to possibly offer a short video showing the facilities as it was confusing for a first timer - and you're not shown around.
Lastly, we were there over new years and felt very under dressed as we weren't informed there was a fancy dinner party.. would've appreciated a heads up :)

Location, great walks in surrounding area
Buffet service, poor briefing on arrival, given wrong room and had to move after dinner

fabulous location with views beyond compare. Very friendly relaxed family hotel. went to exceptional effort on Christmas Day with a dinner dance which all generations in the family really enjoyed.
Would have liked a few rainy day options for walks but recognise the challenge with rivers being so high.

Location, fantastic facilities, great food, friendly staff and very clean.
The weather was crappy😋
