Très bon emplacement, restaurant très agréable et bonne nourriture
Chambre petite, vue sur les aérateurs et le parking
4.1
Location was convenient and room had excellent view of Lewis Castle
Service was very mixed - some lovely staff, but also some very inexperienced staff in the Boathouse restaurant. One particularly sour member of staff in the restaurant at breakfast - gave the impression it was an imposition to ask for a pot of hot water and toast! Service lacked any finesse and very inconsistent - it was complete luck who served and was the difference between feeling welcomed or like an inconvenience.
Room decor was tired and bathroom in need of upgrade with floor peeling up.
Hotel simply cannot justify their prices - rooms are grossly over-priced for what they offer and are not value for money. Premium prices for a budget hotel.

Restaurant and staff
Room was very small.

The family room was large and comfortable with a lovely view to Lew Castle. The Boatshed restaurant was excellent - tasty food and lots of it. All staff were very nice and helpful. Stornoway is a good base to explore all of Lewis and Harris.

great location and freshly decorated / revamped room very spacious and comfortable
4.1
large room with walk in shower for my husband who had a stroke four years ago. The room had comfortable chairs at the window, the bed was very comfortable and the meal in the restaurant was lovely. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
Everything was to be recommended. The parking at the back of the hotel meant that my husband had easy access to the room.

The location was great. Lovely views of the water from our room. The breakfast was very good, served in the dining room downstairs. The stairs were easy to navigate and the room was very nicely done. It was a nice place to walk around outside near the water.
As with most of the places we stayed in Scotland, there was no fridge in the room.

A very nice welcome when I arrived.
Comfortable bed and clean room
A good choice at breakfast - food was good.
Room was a little small

Wonderful staff who are all very friendly and helpful, welcoming from the time you walk in the door. Room was spotless and comfortable, just what you need. Finally there are 2 restaurants in the Hotel, HS1 is simpler fare but totally delicious. Boatshed is one of the best small restaurants I have eaten in. Small and excellent choices for all tastes, fish is from across the road at harbour and meat from local butchers, veg is in season local produce. You can tell it's freshness. Overall 11/10 for me.
Visit was too short.

the staff were exceptional
there wasn’t something I didn’t like

Good breakfast
We arrived late due to the ferry delay, a situation which is surely not unusual for guests at the hotel but everything was shut at 10pm when we arrived and we were told we couldn’t even get a drink

Staff were lovely, location couldn’t have been better, room was spotless and the daily breakfast was delicious.
Rooms were very small

All the Staff was most helpful and professional. I couldn't believe the receptionist carried my backpack and carry-on up to Room 22. Food was delish. Location perfect.
Room 22 was like a closet you'd find in a monastery at the VERY end of two hallways. Nothing 'royal' about it. Sadly. I felt like I was being punished as a solo female traveler as I'd booked this a MONTH (maybe more) before! Yes, the space was uniquely designed to include everything but I couldn't sit up in the single bed because of the building's eave, and the overhead stationary light glared in my face. I told them I was a writer and got up early to write every day. The one skylight window allowed the security lights in from the buildings behind the hotel all night. (Yes, I used a sleep mask.) Note to self: Next time, I will read the fine print about the room's size and details more closely.

the beds were super comfortable, the staff was lovely, and the hotel was very clean
all was great!
4.1
Very friendly and helpful staff even when very busy. Good location. Nice restaurant and bar where you could eat in less formal surroundings. Very comfortable bed.
Bathroom good enough, if not overly modern.
4.1
Parking to the rear is nice as it comes up to the first floor, no need to lug suitcases up the stairs, a decent clean hotel.
4.1
The hotel was in a great location, it was a nice old building with lots of character. The room was clean and was perfect for me. The food was also very good, especially in the cafe/bar. All the staff were pleasant and helpfull.

Friendly staff.
Way overpriced.
Single pane windows.
Shower in bath.

Restaurant and staff were excellent and gave you as much time as they could. As with all places in the UK at the moment staffing is a problem and you could tell everyone was working flat out
This is one of the worst value hotels I have stayed in the room, room 8, lacked ay sort of charm either modern or historic. At a shade under 200 quid this was by far (more than 25%) the the most expensive hotel of our Outer Hebrides trip and had the worst rooms. We were on the early flight the next morning so tried to get to bed before half 10, but the noise of the kitchen extract located right outside our bedroom window that would have woken the dead prevented sleep until it finally shutdown around midnight. At half 1 the night porters was scraping the tables around the dining-room and chatting and managed to wake us up again. They persisted until I could bare it no longer and went down to ask them to shut up. The kitchen extract kicked back in around half 5. Add to that the mattress sloped and all in all a terrible stay.
