Gererally the property was spacious with fantastic views and very comfortable.
However the kitchen needed seriously updating with little space for shopping and an aga which we couldn't use and a very old electric cooker which was just about adequate.
The TV had only basic channels and there was a DVD player which was sometimes temperamental.
Overall in spite of these drawbacks we would return as the location, and the superbe views more than made up for the other deficiencies.

A lovely, large place to base ourselves for a week around Connemara. Views were astounding, and the winter reading room was perfect for a slow evening once the sun had gone down. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Leenaun was a lovely village to spend NYE in too.

We so enjoyed our Christmas at Stoneacre in Leenane. Everything suited us. The situation is spectacular, it’s hard to imagine a better view, we so enjoyed sitting and watching the weather change, seeing the sun set and the moon rise. It was perfect for my elderly mother who enjoyed looking out and was delighted to be staying next to the village church.
Having two sitting rooms also ensured there was plenty of space for everyone. The house was warm but it was fun to make a fire too.
This isn’t an anonymous rental furnished with IKEA which suited us. The house has character and comfort and we thought it was well equipped and generously provisioned. It was like staying in a tasteful friend’s home.
Overall highly recommended. Liz was easy to contact and Conor who deals with the property in person couldn’t have been more helpful.
The only caveat for some might be getting used to using the Aga(traditional stove) but we used it with no difficulties at all.
Great stay and thanks for having us.

Liz’s home is the perfect place for a quiet respite in a breathtakingly beautiful setting. It was wonderful to begin and end our days with the stunning view directly from the front porch.
Liz is a great hostess- she communicated regularly and responded quickly to any questions, as well as offering helpful suggestions for our time in the area.
We highly recommend her home to anyone wanting a beautiful space of their own for their time in Connemara.

A wonderful property with outstanding views. We felt right at home from day one and as for the views, well breath taking is the only way to describe the ever changing vista as the Fjord changes through the day.
Apart from that its well situated for excellent pubs and restaurants which are 500ms away and just a short stroll. Its also a great base to explore Connemara and is close to the national park and 30mins from Westport. Conor the property manager was more than helpful and showed us how everything worked.

We rented Stoneacre with a group of four to six for a two-week period in july-august 2023, the wettest July in many years apparently. The big selling point for this house is the view of Killary Harbour as mentioned in the description, and it is spectacular indeed. The location just outside of Leenane is attractive and very quiet. Leenane offers more than the basics you would expect from a tiny village like this, probably because it's some kind of a tourist hub during the season: pub, shop, restaurant and a decent breakfast/coffee place (run by the property manager). Ireland is a beautiful country and this is a good starting point for discovering it, with the Atlantic coast not far away. Communication with both owner and property manager was prompt and to-the-point.
The house itself is comfortable and spacious and the description is quite adequate. For a property in this price range some aspects require attention and renovation though, better sooner than later. The shower cabin in the main bathroom had a major leak, the other one is tiny which makes it hard to move around. The kitchen equipment is a bit out-dated and there's just too much of it, taking up space and not getting any cleaner because probably nobody uses it a lot. Especially when these issue are addressed we can highly recommend staying in Stoneacre!

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house. We love and miss this amazing few. We could watch the whole day out the window and it wouldn't be never ever boring. It's a little bit sad, that we spent so many time in the car to visit the western of Ireland. :-)

We had a great week at a lovely property, the views are fantastic and the facilities provided were spot on. Conor the owner at Purple Door Cafe was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. House is ideallt sited within walking distance of a couple of pubs and Leenane Hotel, its a fantastic area to visit , we will definitely return. Thanks for your hospitality Liz.

Lots of room for 4-6 people, just a kilometer from all basic needs in a small, lovely town amidst spectacular scenery. Comfortable and well stocked, phenomenal view of Ireland's only fjord, near boat rides and convenient to reach all of Connemara and western Irish towns. Best of all, nearby manager, Connor, to advise and assist, excellent experience.

We had a fantastic stay at Stoneacre. Communication with Liz was excellent. Our entire family truly enjoyed the week we spent in Leenane. The house itself is fantastic, immaculate and just as described. Surprisingly spacious, open and roomy. Everything you might need on a day-to-day basis is available. It is a comfortable home in a very quiet neighborhood. The views from the house are simply exceptional and you never tire of admiring the ever-changing moods and colors of the fjord and the mountains. The property is situated in a very convenient location, close to all local amenities and places to visit. Perfect for day trips in Connemara and South Mayo. Our special thanks go to Conor for his warm welcome and helpful advice and guidance. We particularly liked the Purple Door Café in Leenane. We would definitely book again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Stoneacre, DESPITE a week of Connemara's grayest, rainiest weather all spring (according to locals). The main gathering space has huge windows that overlook the east end of Killary Fjord. Watching the clouds and light play over the water and surrounding mountains is mesmerizing and relaxing. Better than any screen time!
The house is large and well-kept and comfy. We loved cooking on the Aga (not necessary for any trepidacious American cooks) once it was up and running. Instant hot water showers take a bit of fussing with to get to the perfect shower volume and temperature. The garden is lovely, and so are the local trails.
Go, relax, enjoy!

Spectacular View
What a wonderful property! We stayed a week and enjoyed touring around the area. A cruise on Killary Fjord, Kylemore Abbey, Connemara Cultural Center, Connemara Heritage Center, a ferry to Inishmore to see Dun Aonghasa, Knockbrack Tomb near Cleggan, Aughnanure Castle, the Quiet Man Bridge and eating muscles at Hamiton's. Beautiful sunsets and evenings that were ever changing! Thanks for the great accommodations!

Fab house with amazing view
The experience was a pleasure - start to finish. Location is super for touring Galway/Mayo and the village of Lennane is lovely with a couple of good options for eating out. The view from the house is amazing - even better than what we expected from the pictures and the house itself has loads of space and is really well equipped. We have already put it on the list of places to return to.
