Wir waren zufrieden.

Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Komfortzimmer. Die Terrasse ist groß und bietet Meerblick. Die Vermieterin ist sehr umsichtig und kümmert sich um alles und gibt auch gute Empfehlungen. Die große Gemeinschaftsküche ist gut ausgestattet und funktional.

Die Vermieterin hat ihr Büro direkt im Gemeinschaftsbereich und "überwacht" das soziale Leben und ob alle auch die von ihr gesetzten Regeln einhalten, die beim Checkin auch ausführlich erklärt werden. Da wäre ein bisschen mehr Lockerheit angesagt. Die Autowerkstatt direkt unter der Herberge verursacht während des Tags doch relativ viel Lärm.

Amazing place. Location 5 minutes from the airport by car, from the ferry in Velas about 15'. Very comfortable, clean and large room with private bathroom, large balcony with seating area, kitchen for the hostel well equipped and spacious. The owner is lovely and kind. In the hill by the main road above the town of Urzalina where there is a pool, shop, bar and several excellent restaurants, very nice place. Buses don't run here, car needed. Great view of Pico. It was a very nice stay in Sao J which is very hilly.

Marficas Hostel is a true gem.

Stay here to explore the magic that is São Jorge. Marficas Hostel is a true gem. Tania is the most welcoming and amazing host and really wants all her guests to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of the island. She truly goes above and beyond for helping assist her guests with restaurants, taxis, treks, and more. The hostel is in a great location and I liked the village of Urzelina. The kitchen is fantastic, rooms are well laid out, and the balcony a bonus. Everything here is incredibly clean. Thank you so much Tania for creating this space to enjoy São Jorge. I hope to return in the future 💚

The best place to stay in São Jorge

Marficas is the best place to stay in São Jorge. The location in Urzelina is excellent. The rooms are spacious and with modern furnishings. The cleanliness is excellent, the kitchen is perfect and has way more appliances and facilities than you'd expect. Tania who owns it is an absolute gem of a woman. Helpful, friendly, kind and knowledgeable.

The balcony, kitchen and showers are nice, very clean and well equiped. I was alone in the shared room, like that it was ok, but guess with 4 there is not much space.

I was alone in the hostel, and actually feels more like a hotel then a hostel. And a car is recommended, otherwise hard to get to urzelina and around the island.

Tânia is a friendly host and happy to have a chat! Everything was very clean and comfortable. There's a big, well stocked kitchen area with two stoves. Each room had a balcony with chairs and a table that's great to watch the sunset from, and a great view of Pico too! The bathrooms are have lots of space. Dorm beds were comfy and rooms had direct access to the carpark. When I stayed there weren't many other travellers (because of shoulder season) so it was quiet, but did make a very relaxed experience.

Great view, very clean and a well-equipped shared kitchen!

The view of the hostel is superb, we could see Pico right there and it's the first thing we saw every morning. Our room was in the back which had no direct view but we just had to walk a bit on our private door. The facility was very clean, and the kitchen was amazingly useful and well equipped. They even supply coffee or tea. There are two big fridges that we stored some food and water. A big plus, they sent us a map of the island with places to visit, through whatsapp, which was very helpful and we love the recommendation.

Beware that there isn't a breakfast place nearby, we had to go all the way to Velas on the first day and that didn't go well. The best is to buy stuff for breakfast and make it yourself at the hostel. You can sit outside and enjoy the view with it too.

We basically loved everything, it was the perfect hostel. Everything was clean the kitchen had modern equipment and everywhere was air condition. Also the manger, Tatjana, was really kind- you really got the feeling that she cared and that she wanted to get you the best holidays. Would love to come back one day!

very well presented modern guest house, with terraces and private entrances, helpful host, very high spec with excellent facilities, there is an open plan lounge and kitchen diner which includes the host office area. I didn’t meet any solo travellers here and it did seem that there were few of them here on Sao Jorge. It is on the main road and you really need a car to stay here. It was a 30 min walk up from the sea front bars. The (mini) bus runs twice a day and they drove past me without stopping as I sheltered from the pouring rain. 24 hr car hire is 80-100 Euros with insurance so try and share!

I enjoy the private terrace for each shared room. Every room is cleaned every day. Room and beds comfortable. Urzelina nice and cool city !

The best hostel I have ever been to. Very well kept, very good cleaning, nice and comfy beds, a kitchen with everything you need. A hostel like no other; the staff is very nice, friendly, and helpful. Best place to stay in Sao Jorge! Urzelina is also a very nice area to stay

One of the best hostels I’ve ever been!

Stayed there for 2 nights, extremely clean facilities, comfortable bedrooms, and a lovely owner always willing to help us during our stay. Definitely recommended!

Perfect place where to stay

Marficas hostel offers you more hotel standards (services and facilities) rather than what you usually expect from hostels. When the price is super reasonable. So it's an amazing place where to stay! It also offers a great view of Pico during the day and a beautiful sky full of stars at night. The owners are super nice, kind and always looking to help you. Located in the middle on the south coast makes it easy for you travel around. I recommand it and I would definitely come back here !

I travel non-stop, and this is possibly the best hostel I've been to in Europe. The infrastructure is amazing and very new and well maintained, with a huge, well-equipped kitchen, great hot shower, nice common spaces and comfy rooms with plenty of sunlight - with balconies overlooking the ocean and Pico mountain on the opposite island! :D You can reach the hostel by bus, it's about a 15 to 20-minute walk to the coast, and there's a few shops and restaurants within that distance. Cleanliness and covid prevention were impeccable. Hospitality was the best part. This is a family-owned and run business, and they care for every detail to make you feel at home. I'd come back in a heartbeat. Muito obrigada!

This place should be at least 3* Hotel. Very clean and spacious, we had room with big balcony and private entrance. The place is just in perfect location, highly recommended!
