About this house rental

This 1950s beach cottage has undergone tasteful renovation. We have made our petite hideaway extremely comfortable for couples or small families (max 2 adults and 2 children). This is high quality on a small scale.

We have installed a new kitchen and bathroom, painted the entire property and fitted it with brand new furniture. We have built a huge new deck on which to laze away the days while our new outdoor hot/cold screened shower is a delightful way to wash off the salt and sand from the beach across the road rather than trudging it inside!

Silverleaves Hideaway is directly opposite the foreshore on Phillip Islands calm, sheltered, north-facing beach. The property is nestled amongst tea-trees and under a huge old coastal banksia tree. These stunning old banksias are what make Silverleaves the prettiest place on Phillip Island. The surrounds are private, lush and delightful.

As well as being mere steps away from the shoreline, around the corner you will find great coffee at the Silverleaves General Store, open all year. If you feel up to a longer stroll (2km) you can follow the flat beachfront Lovers Walk into Cowes where you will find a range of further coffee and eating establishments.

Bedroom 1: 1 double bed. Bedroom 2: 1 bunk and 1 infant bed. Bedroom 1 is accessed through bedroom 2. The cottage is perfect for couples, but it will comfortably accommodate 1-2 young children in addition (bearing in mind that the top bunk is not suitable for children under 9).

All linen must be brought with you. This includes top and bottom sheets (OR bottom sheets and quilt covers), towels, bathmat and tea towels. Quilts and pillows are provided. (For bookings made a long way in advance we may be able to organise linen hire for your stay - this will incur extra charges and cannot be organised for last minute bookings.)

While we provide one of the most tastefully furnished holiday properties in Silverleaves, our elfin hideaway has no TV, dishwasher, bath or air-conditioning. We do however provide heating, fans, a washing machine, microwave, small oven range, all the usual kitchen utensils necessary for easy home catering and an outdoor BBQ. There is table seating for 4. Although there is no wifi connection available, you will find your 4G devices operate well.

When no further booking follows the next day, we are happy to offer a PROPER weekend away from Friday night to late Sunday afternoon. We believe this makes a weekend away truly you will find this location difficult to leave!

The property is unfenced and no pets are allowed. The property is strictly non-smoking and not at all suitable for groups. Two-night minimum bookings. Additional cleaning fee.

Holiday activities

While the well-known Penguin Parade, Churchill Island, the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit and A Maze'N Things attract some of our guests, our favourite local activities are free:
1. George Bass Coastal Walk from Punchbowl Rd near San Remo to Kilcunda, stopping at the Kilcunda General Store for a meal mid-way (14km return). This is one of the most spectacular coastal walks in Australia.
2. Bass Coast Cycle Rail Trail from V-line bus terminal at Anderson to Wonthaggi (32km return). This well-surfaced coastal cycle path is also spectacular. The most scenic section is between Kilcunda and the mouth of the Powlett River.
3. Bird watching at Swan Lake between Oct-April
4. Boardwalk and trail from Conservation Hill to Rhyll (8km return)
5. Rock pooling at Kitty Miller Bay
6. Surfing at Smiths Beach or Berrys Beach
7. Evening stroll at Silverleaves
