For the most part our stay here was very good. The location was really great, easy walking distance to everything we wanted to see in town. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were very big. We didn’t really use the kitchen but it seemed to have everything you would need if you were using it.
We did have a bit of difficulty communicating with the owner but it got better near the end of our stay when we started using WhatsApp. We ran out of water at the beginning of our stay but they had it fixed by the time we got back from our activities for the day.
The photos of the place do not accurately depict the overall place. I asked the owner if he could send me additional pictures and he said no. The layout worked great for our family but I’m going to describe it for anyone who cares. All of the rooms open up to a central courtyard and none of them connect to each other except the kitchen and dining room. There is a “living room” but it is in the bedroom that has twin beds. This bedroom is also the noisiest at night since it is on the same side as a busy street (the other two bedrooms are on the side of a less busy street). There are 2 bathrooms but we didn’t know where the second bathroom was (and I asked with no response) until the owner gave us permission to go up on the roof to watch a parade. The 2nd bathroom is up the stairs to the roof which has a gate with a padlock on it. We didn’t know the keys were in the kitchen for this gate.
We would stay again.

This property reflects the culture of Oaxaca beautifully - from the local art to the stunning courtyard. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked. The location is perfect if you want to be in the mix near the central plaza and close the beautiful Jalatlaco neighborhood and tons of food and artist markets. This also means that it's active at night, with quite a bit of traffic and noise. This wasn't a problem for us. So glad we stayed in Moises' home for an unforgettable stay in Oaxaca City.

Lovely. Great locale

We loved out time at this heritage casa. The courtyard was great to meet around and the kids loved running around the fountain. The rooms were comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. Location can't be beat! So nice to be in close walking distance to our favourite restaurants and shops. Would stay here again.

We enjoyed staying here immensely. There were only four of us and we had plenty of room in the courtyard and bedrooms and it was close to everything we wanted to visit. The house has every amenity you could imagine to make margaritas food etc. I would definitely stay here again. A little bit noisy since it’s on the corner of two major streets.

Beautiful home
This is a beautiful home that is located close to everything. We really enjoyed relaxing in the courtyard after a long day of exploring. There was plenty of space for all of us to spread out. I read other reviews about mosquitoes and was slightly concerned, but we never saw any in the home. We had one minor issue and as soon as we contacted the house manager it was rectified within 15 minutes. We can’t wait to return to Oaxaca and stay in this home again!

This is a wonderful rental. I travel a lot and compare across the world. it is right in the center of town ( so yes...bring your ear plugs) and it is within walking distance of nearly everything. I loved the restaurants nearby. For local, casual, cheap but great food--1.5 blocks up and there is a little hotel with a great cafe and restaurant. Or 3 blocks up and you are at Casa Oaxaca--maybe the best restaurant in town.
You are only 3 blocks from the Cathedral and Zocalo and it's so truly authentic Mexican in it's feel, design, character, and location.
Everything is super clean. Kudos to the housekeeper--like super clean. The manager is prompt and nice and well educated. He made my 5:00 a. check-out contactless and easy.
It's all they advertise and more! It is also very well stocked with shampoo, dryer, razors, etc. etc.

Thank You
Thank you Moises for being a responsive host. We loved the classic home, and the location was perfect for us. All the best restaurants within walking distance.

The home is beautiful, and the location cannot be beat. It is a little loud because its near a major street, and access to one of the bedrooms is through a second bedroom. But it was very comfortable and Moises made us feel right at home, with lots of helpful suggestions about the city.

Kinda wonderful.
Perfectly-located, spotlessly clean, lovely home. Host Moises Bailon could not possibly be more helpful and accommodating. It is very noisy, however, so bring earplugs.

Comfort in Living History
We recently stayed in this Historical Gem, which is like a sweet oasis right in the middle of where you want to be in Oaxaca City! Everything you need is in this lovely home, generationally passed down through the Bailon family. You can feel the love of family within these old walls! It is located in the heart of everything you want to see and do. Moises is a superb host, he was there to greet us and show us around the home, and very quick to reply by email for all other questions we had while there, even arranging a taxi to the airport for us on the day of our departure. While there, we enjoyed a trip to Monte Alban. We did a food and culture tour with Mahsa from "Journey's Beneath the Surface" - highly recommended in the beginning of your trip. Food is amazing in Oaxaca and there are more wonderful restaurants then we had time for, but our top two pics were "Tierra Del Sol" which is right up the same street (be sure to have Sopa Azteca - Tortilla Soup) and also "Pitiona's which is not far from the Cathedral, an easy walk from the house, one you will take often! The suckling pig taco's at Pitiona's are very memorable! This home sits right on the corner of a very busy intersection, ear-plugs are a bonus, but even with traffic noise its very worth the opportunity to to stay here and relax in the courtyard for morning coffee or an afternoon siesta is quite lovely.
Oaxaca memory's are still lingering and we look forward to our return. We will request this home again!

We stayed at this home for 2 weeks in February. The location is very central and there is a lot of room. Mr. Moises is very conscientious and professional. He went out of his way to make sure that the home was very prepared with the kitchen and bathrooms having a lot of supplies. The home itself is in a very noisy location, being at the corner of 2 very busy streets. Also there is construction directly above and next door, which may go on for many months. Therefore, the noise level is high throughout the day and night. We used earplugs which became tiring after 2 weeks. We would definitely contact Mr. Moises again to see if he had different accommodation.

Traditional House in Central Oaxaca
The house is, indeed, beautiful. It's a calm oasis in the City's historic district. The owner was very accommodating, greeted us, knows Oaxaca in depth, and remained available for contact during our stay. The place is well equipped, comfortable, and well maintained. The location is great. We hope to return.

We stayed at La Casa de la Abuela for three weeks, and I have many good things to say about our time. This is a home that has been in the family for years, and it shows. The furniture is high quality, the kitchen is equipped to be able to cook for large amounts of people, and there is even a garage. The owner, Mr. Moises Bailon, is very professional, concerned about his guest's well being, and gave us a well stocked house. He answers his emails quickly and can help with questions ranging from where to go on the weekends, to where to go out to dinner. The house keeper, Sra. Graciela, is conscientious and kind, and she takes great care in her work. We appreciated her a great deal, and our four year old son loved being around her.
La Casa de la Abuela is equipped with beautiful furnishings, towels, and amenities. There is an office, which I used since I was in Oaxaca on business. This is a colonial style home that has been in the family for years, and it breathes history. The artwork is amazing, there are many plants in the center courtyard, and all the rooms surround that. The space within the walls is enough that our four year old son could run some, play, and to not feel cooped up at all.
The location cannot be beat for convenience to the Historical Center. It is two blocks to the Jardín Etnobotánico, and two more blocks to the walking street, Macedonia Alcalá.
Two things to be aware of which are standard fare in all of Oaxaca. First, the house is on the corner of two busy streets. If you are sensitive to noise, bring ear plugs. We did not use them at all and all of us slept very well. Also, there are mosquitos. This is true in every place I have stayed in Oaxaca. Here, there are multiple fans in every bedroom and also plug in mosquito repellent. We also bought mosquito coils.
There are so many positives to this house that the minor inconveniences should not be an issue. This is a home in excellent conditions in a part of town where very few full size homes still exist.
If we return to Oaxaca, I will definitely be in touch with Mr. Moises Bailon for this home or any other that he may be renting. I have full confidence that anything with his name attached to it will be in excellent conditions.

La Mansion
La Mansion was even better then we imagined! We enjoyed the spacious courtyard, the comfortable beds and a well stocked kitchen.
Our home away from home is in an ideal location, close to Oaxaca center, markets, museums, shops and restaurants.
Moises met us upon our arrival and housekeeping came to mop and freshen our linens.
Our experience in Oaxaca was magical, beginning with our first step into La Mansion.
Thank you Moises for sharing your beautiful home.
