Very central for all the various daily excursions I took in the varied directions. Easy commute to Cape Town Central, Malmesbury, airport and casino.
Food was excellent and staff were fantastic.
Signage from rooms to lobby area could be a little better when fire door is closed. Mentioned this to reception.

Breakfast, kitchen staff and waiters was exceptional.
The apartment should have cutlery, crockery, wine glasses, microwave and refrigerator standard. One should not have to ask for it.Apartment had a musty smell, I opened all windows.

Good location. I had a workshop at the hotel. The venue was good and the refreshments were tasty.
My aircon did not work . Hotel maintenance immediately came to repair it. It took quite some time but was sorted.
My room was on ground level next to an outside area and close to the bar area. Unfortunately a low level noise until late at night right outside my window. Avoid rooms 102, 104, 106, ect.

The staff at reception was absolutely amazing
Guest came in while I was sitting in reception and told the staff someone was in his room the previous night even the Mudd shoe marks are there and this made me feel very scared as a women alone in the hotel right at the back.
Then the manger at the restaurant was so rude to her staff in the restaurant 🍴 while I had breakfast I think it is something they could have evoid and council the lady in a office.
The maintenance guy just walked in into my room because he saw the lady who is cleaning inside, he then went on his knee mocking that he want to ask her to marry but he just fooled around. I don't think is is good to come into a room when the guest is still inside the room

The staff were super friendly and efficient when it came to checking in. The food in the restaurant and the breakfast was top quality.

The wifi was connecting pretty well and the breakfast was good too - especially the orange juice!
There was no water on my first day checked in, and the aircon was really not making the room warm and it was loud.

Breakfast
No fitness center/gym, broken AC unit during thr first night (leaking water and making rattling sounds), got called multiple times by staff to check on me, which was annoying

Location is excellent and I have been a long-standing fan of Protea Hotels
Room was very cold (it’s winter) and tiled floors don’t help as there are no carpets. no extra blankets in room, I had to ask. Also the AC wasn’t working as due to load shedding and not sufficient generator capacity the AC remotes had been removed to save electricity… to warm up the room.
as a minimum would recommend slippers be provided in rooms

Food was great.
Service in dining a little slow.

Is a joke - they cancel reservation on last day and then re-book you from two room apartment to single bad room claiming is on-par

Close to main road and surrounding shopping centres and wine estates
our room’s allocated to us was too close to the restaurant and public facilities..too much noise

The front of house staff were amazing and helpful. The bed was comfortable and room was clean and spacious
The aircon was directly next to the bed and was noisy and not in an ideal location in the room. The Netflix and Dstv didn’t work. The carpets and smell on the hotel passage and main area needs a clean and didn’t smell good

I enjoyed the well prepared breakfast, the omelette was amazing.
There was an event in Sat night so the music was too loud when I tried to go to bed.

The apartment layout and space was good.
Breakfast egg chefs were lovely and made great omlettes!
The staff were very friendly and polite - always helpful.
The pool area is quite lovely. It can be a bit loud to take a call there but if just reading or working quietly, it's a lovely area.
The location is great. Super for being between great beaches and wine! Also very easy to find. The exterior is also very inviting. I can see why so many folks have events there.
Room- Some maintenance required in some areas like the blinds, which should be replaced with curtains. Walls are very thin. I thought someone was entering the apartment at one point but it was just the upstairs neighbour entering thier room. Some areas in the room need a deeper clean.
Food - breakfast was ok, not great. Hot items we mislabelled and layout meant I completely missed the regular pork items until it was pointed out to me on day 3. Dinners were very nice in general. Pulled pork burger could be better.
All of this was actually ok given it's 3 star. I hope they work towards the 4th star as it's definitely not the Protea experience of old.
The only really concerning element was the refund of my deposit for room service, dinner etc. This was a very manual process requiring me to fill out a paper form, proving my CVV number, which I refused to do. This is terrible security practice! I hope they look into getting this to happen through the machine with card presentation. I don't have this problem in other places. I gave my bank details instead. Have yet to receive my refund almost a month later. This hotel has great bones and I look forward to seeing improvements on returning.

We found that all the staff members really cared about our welfare. They were prepared to go the extra mile in order to make our stay worthwhile. The location is good and there was plenty of parking.
I prefer a top sheet on the bed. There was only a very thick duvet on the bed - too thick for summer.
