We had the best zip lining tour at Blue River! Our guides, Ronald and Caleb were so patient and fun. It is clear they love their jobs. We also enjoyed the mud bath, sauna, hot springs, and butterfly habitat. The front porches are amazing; loads of birds to listen to in the morning, and we spotted a sloth on grounds! Good AC and comfortable beds; fun waterslide for the kids and adults, and a very friendly staff who made a point of accommodating our group of 8 for every meal. We came in the off season, and felt extra special to have our own table for 8 automatically reserved for our meals.
Our bathroom smelled like urine from the first second we walked in. The rooms are huge, but could use an update, particularly in the bathrooms. The food at the restaurant was just okay: bonus is that they have a kid’s menu that perfectly suited our kids. If you book a tour, double check your bill. We were initially charged for the non-guest rate for our zip line tour which was about a third more than we expected. The staff member who charged us quickly settled the matter, but did say that sometimes the staff who makes the booking “makes a mistake.” Just be sure to keep an eye on your charges. Overall, our experience was quite good. It’s a long and tedious drive from Liberia. Be aware that much of the drive is gravel/dirt. If you are prepared for that and consider it part of the adventure of coming to this quiet, lovely location, you will be set up to have a positive outlook and to make the most of your stay.

Wildlife & the weather
We live on the Nicoya Penninsula and love to visit BRR for a get away, it is about 5-6 hour drive.
The resort is one of our favorites, we booked for our Anniversary and we like to recommend it to all our friends, but this time only 1 pool was full and it was not warm. It would have been nice to know in advance, and given the option to schedule another time

A paradise on earth. We loved the beautiful surrounding: the hot natural pools, the natural sauna, the garden with the butterflies. Everything is clean and the horses look healthy. During the day they are on a huge paddock. The children loved the water slide. In the restaurant you have varied really good meals. We did the zip-line and the cathedral waterfall tour, both were fantastic.- good organised and with responsible nice guides.
You need a 4x4 car to get there and enough petrol, but then Ressort is easy to reach.

The hotel is beyond expectation. Staffs were very nice. The receptionist contacted us and made sure we were arriving safe to the location since we were getting there after 10pm. We like the big room for our family. It feels very comfortable.

The grounds are beautiful and quiet!
That they tried to give me a different room than the one I booked, but at the end they were able to give me the suite with the king size bed.

excellent choice.
the access was very difficult due to extreme bad road.

There is a lot on offer to see and do, the rooms are large.
Due to location there are no food options other than on site. The food is ok and the service slow. The rooms are very noisy with them being wooden but the fridge and air conditioner make it even noisier.
We were bitten by bugs even in just the short times when moving between pools, you need constant bug protection.

The gardens were amazing! The Villa was immaculate, clean and comfortable. The thermal and regular pools were perfect for relaxing and recovering physically and mentally. The whole place is a PARADISE for those that want to move away from city, noise, pollution, traffic and hectic life!
The place is a bit remote and a good portion of the road is not paved!

spa pools were great, breakfast lovely
taxi was 50USD more than one we organised ourselves, remote location so more shuttle options at a cheaper price would be better

We stayed here one night on a whim, and did not want to leave. This is costa rica. Pura Vida. And we absolutely loved driving to the location, hidden on a mountain
That we didn't have more time to stay

The cabins were quaint and comfortable. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The property was beautiful with all the lush landscaping.
The road to get there was terrible. But most the roads in Costa Rica are once you get off the main highway.

The property and grounds were very beautiful, with lots of tropical trees and flowers. We enjoyed the three hot springs pools and the mud bath! We also liked the humming birds and butterfly enclosure.
We went on a beautiful guided hike to some waterfalls.
The road leading to the property was hard to drive on, but this is not the fault of the property.
