My husband & I reserved this place for our wedding anniversary. But unfortunately we left early, for a few reasons.
Pros: It’s a cute old stucco with a really gorgeous view of the lake on a unique property.
-Tons of bird watching (Eagles, pelicans, ducks, etc).
-A nice long dock with a bench for fishing or just enjoying the views.
-Plenty of room in the yard to plop down a lawn chair & relax while listening to the waves.
-Quiet & peaceful.
Cons: The house itself, the deck & the balcony are in need of some general TLC.
-The grill was filthy & we had to buy a grill brush to clean it. (Bring some charcoal if you plan to use it)
-The fire pit needs to be dug out & cleaned up.
-No fire wood provided, BYO
-We had two large, angry carpenter bees inside when we arrived (I’m allergic).
-The bathroom, specifically the toilet/shower is tiny, not user friendly & awkward.
- Queen mattress was extremely hard/uncomfortable.
- During a particularly bad rain storm, water was pouring in through the top of the doorframe between the kitchen a bathroom area. The next day the mildew smell was excessive.
We decided to call it the next morning & go home.
If you want rustic in the true sense, this is it. We expected something else from viewing the photos/description. But in the end, sadly, this just wasn’t our cup of tea.

So the property was really clean and nicely secluded. All the amenities were as described. The one thing that was a bit of a challenge in our minds was that the bedroom is upstairs but the bathroom was on the lower level at the backside of the kitchen, so trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night aren’t easy. They do have several nightlights though that helped. The other thing to note is window treatments in the bedroom. For those that like to rise with the sun, you will have no problem. But those late risers will need eye masks or like to sleep under the covers because they’re not room darkening blinds. Lol! We had a great time though watching the bald Eagle across the cove and enjoying nearby dining establishments like Schmitty’s (best lobster bisque I’ve ever had) and Sunset grill! Oshkosh and Elkhart Lake are easy drives as well. Great place to make some memories!

The Little Lake House was a relaxing and quiet get away. The location is beautiful and the property is exactly as it’s named: a modest house that had everything we needed for 2 people. We enjoyed listening to the birds and ducks in the morning, watching the sunrise, hanging by the lake, and having fires at night. The kitchen is nice so we made a lot of our own meals. We were able to drop our kayak and paddle board in using the dock (a little climbing necessary but doable) and paddled around, but the shoreline has a lot of seaweed so it’s not really fit for swimming or floating. There were a lot of cobwebs on the outside surfaces though so we had to do some cleaning to feel comfortable. A couple logistical things about the house: 1) The bedroom is upstairs while the bathroom is downstairs across the house. If you’re someone who uses the bathroom at night, this poses a challenge. There is a pullout couch in the living room though. 2) Most windows have no curtains or blinds. This didn’t really bother us though as the house is tucked away enough that it feels private enough. When we weren’t at the house, we enjoyed visiting Lakeside Park with an old restored lighthouse and some local establishments with good seafood. Overall we enjoyed our time there.

This house is perfect if you’re looking for a getaway from the city and enjoy wildlife and sitting by the lake. We had a comfortable stay and were glad to see the house has central AC with these recent heat waves.

The dictionary definitions of rest, relaxation, vacation and bliss all need to be re-written to reference The Little Lake House. Peaceful and quiet. Serenity. Dang, we needed that week! Thanks to Craig for being a super host!

My husband & I were impressed by the online pictures of this property. It is a lovely little getaway with impressive views of the lake and nearby eagles nest which we enjoyed viewing for the 3 days we were there.
We brought our kayaks to launch, but unfortunately there is no good place on this shoreline to do so. Craig was very helpful in directing us where we could launch them (Wayside up the road about a mile) and that worked out perfectly. Since it is so early in the season, we had the lake to ourselves!
Although we can see many updates have been done to this vintage home, there were some things that we feel could use some maintenance & upkeep (which have been noted in reviews before going back a couple years). The decking, picnic table and upper floor balcony really need a good sanding & re-staining. The railing on the upper balcony is severely rotted and doesn't appear safe. Paint on the outside of the home is cracked & peeling in places. The lawn/landscaping, firepit area and shoreline are in need of mowing & trimming.
The long standing issue with no curtains on many windows (including the bathroom & toilet area!) made us uncomfortable and as mentioned before, there is no privacy between the kitchen and the bathroom sink - a simple floor length curtain would help. Very small shower/toilet area with no safety rail and only 1 small towel rack in the sink area. Certainly a unique property but all of these unfortunately detracted from us giving a 5 Star rating.

We enjoyed the week , very relaxing. The lake was a little overwhelming of the size as we took a day to the other end . Enjoyed coffee on the deck in the morning's and cocktails in the evening. Did catch a nice bass of the dock . Very quiet location. The host was great. Thank you

We really enjoyed our stay at this little lake house. It's a great place to relax & enjoy the water & birds. The fishing was CRAZY good - we couldn't catch them fast enough. This is the perfect spot if you're looking to enjoy scenery & birds.
Appliances were nice (we used them all) & the owner is extremely responsive to messages. We'll definitely be booking another trip to this little gem.

I had been looking for a local getaway for me, myself and I. In viewing photos and location, I was immediately drawn to the Little Lake House. My stay of 6 days was during the 1st week of January and it was very cold. The sunrises over the frozen lake from the balcony were stunning and the snow that gently fell on the property was beautiful. Warm, cozy, and charming on the inside with the fireplace on, my work days almost seemed fun! Will definitely be back to enjoy the warmer weather outside! Barb

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this lake home. The view is spectacular! There are high end finishes inside the home (loved the hardwood floors). We had great access to TV channels for our viewing at night. We had Easy access to downtown Fond Du Lac. We loved this lake home and we intend to come back again in the future!

The Little Lakehouse is a great place to get away. It is difficult to get to late at night as it is extremely dark. The house is nice overall and it is an awesome place to sit back and relax in front of the lake. I do recommend you bring your own water to drink as the water out of the faucets is a little funky. The actual overall condition of the house is not accurately depicted . The house has some wear and tear. The mattress needs an update as you can feel some of the divets. Overall, the wonders of the property do have amazing communication as they answered any questions I had in a timely manner. I would be willing to stay another visit at the little lake house in the future.

A perfect little getaway! House was very clean and we had everything that we needed. Scenery is beautiful as we fished from the lake. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We will definitely be back in the future.

What a sweet cottage! The view is stunning. We enjoyed relaxing outside & listening to the water. The outside deck could use some upkeep, & the bed was not very comfortable, but other than that this place was very nice.

We have stayed in many VRBOs across the country over the years and have had very positive experiences. When we arrived at the cabin, we loved the view, it was by far the best part. But, we were surprised at how poorly maintained the exterior and interior were. It needs a good power washing, fresh paint and new windows. The cleanliness of the interior was certainly sub par, especially given COVID. The refrigerator was empty but dirty, the windows needed to be washed, the cabinets and appliances had not been wiped down and everything just looked dirty. The bathroom was a nightmare for a family of 4 with two teenagers. There was no door on the room with a sink and a separate toilet/shower did have a door. Without a door in the main area of the bathroom, there was no wear for us to change due to lack of privacy and the impossibility of changing in the bathroom with toilet and shower due to it being extremely small. Upon showering, there was not even a bath mat to safely get out of the shower and it was very slippery. The water smelled like sulfur from the moment we walked in the door. On our last night, my son took a shower at 9:30 and the water would not shut off. I called and then texted the landlord. He arrived quickly but was not friendly or apologetic. He shut off all the water in the home and did not offer any kind of refund or compensation for the inconvenience, and also, we have received no contact after we left the next morning to discuss. Very disappointing. We left the next morning without having water to go to the bathroom and flush the toilet, brush our teeth or shower. It was an awful way to end our trip. I am still waiting for our deposit to be returned and it has been 2 days. I am not one to leave negative reviews, I only leave positive ones, but this was an unacceptable experience.

Nice little cabin on the lake. Easy access to the city, but also a little off the beaten path. Enjoyed the time.

Loved the location and views of the property. House was clean. The outside could use some upkeep. Paint and/or texture was peeling and the balcony could use some care. But all in all a nice place to stay, we would return to this property in the future.
Owner did a great job of communicating.

Location was perfect for us. Enjoyed the serenity of morning coffee, on the deck, while watching the Pelicans and Seagulls. Was disappointed that a cold wind BLEW for our last two days. Unable to enjoy the fire pit and grill.
The night fishing took us by surprise and the morning sun comes pretty early for someone sleeping on the pull-out couch.
Overall, a wonderful stay.

We really enjoyed this amazing location - a truly unique and relaxing spot! Great communication from Craig and very simple check in/out instructions. Hoping to be back soon!

This is a cute little lake house but it's just not very functional. There are no blinds on any windows in entire house (including the bathroom!) except for the bedroom which is upstairs. The stairs to go to the bedroom (almost like an enclosed porch) is not well insulated so it was extremely cold going back and forth to the rest of the house -- We ended up just sleeping on the sofa bed downstairs. More thorough cleaning is definitely needed -- there was food residue and old rice grains on the stove and countertops, dirty coffee pot and bathroom sink, no fitted sheet for the sofa bed and one of the pillowcases had a hole in it. Overall, a great location with amazing views and Craig was nice and responsive. This place would be nice in the Spring or Fall months.

This lake house has spectacular views, was easy to get to from Chicago where I live, and was clean and well-appointed. But I couldn't stay after all. The bathroom is on the lower level and the bedroom on the upper, and the staircase was much too steep for my arthritis to handle. For those who have no such medical issues, it would be a nice place to stay, right on the water. (Note: the dock would be great for fishing or boating, but not for swimming--it's too high off the lake surface to jump in, and there is no ladder to climb out.) But the steepness of the stairs and split of bedroom and bathroom, which was necessary because of the design of the house, made it a nonstarter for me. The booking and all that were fine. I would strongly recommend this place IF you have no problem with steep stairs.

Relaxing home in a private spot. The host is extremely receptive to whatever your needs are. The house was beautiful, and stocked with everything I could need for my short stay.

We stayed for a long weekend at Craig's place and had a great time. We grilled out each day and had a bonfire each night. It is very tranquil listening to the sound of the waves on the shore. We found that we never really had to leave the cabin except to replenish groceries since it was so nice just sitting on the back deck. It does get quite buggy so bring plenty of repellent.
To qualify the sleeping arrangements, there is only a queen sized bed and a queen sized pull out sofa. Both were comfortable but if you have more than four people you should like each other a lot or bring an air mattress.
Craig had the cabin ready for us early so we checked in a few hours in advance but be sure to request this from him if that's what you want to do. Plenty of cooking and sanitary supplies were provided and the linens and towels were all new and clean. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway weekend.

A charming old house with up-to-date amenities, including a modern kitchen and free Netflix on a large TV in the living room.
Property surrounded by water on two sides.
Owner Craig was also very hospitable.

The location of this house is great. Beautiful, secluded spot on the lake where you can see lots of stars at night. The house is tiny and cute and only sleeps 4, that's 2 in the double bed upstairs and 2 on the pull out couch. Bring blow up mattresses, etc. if you don't want to share beds. Craig was a good, responsive host with helpful suggestions for what to do in the area. If you go in the warm weather, we would recommend checking out Wolf Lake beach. And we also enjoyed pizza delivery from Sal's Pizza - the house was a little hard for him to find but he still managed to get the pizza to us hot : )

What a gem, we checked in late and the door was open and everything was great.
Craig texted a welcome and we were on our way.
Plenty to see and do, fireplace (gas) and two huge tv, with fast internet.
We also asked about checking out later for a fee and Craig let us stay for Free.
Thanks for a great weekend

I stayed here for the week of the 2017 EAA airshow. I have to say that I looked forward coming here every night after the airshow as it is VERY quiet and relaxing on the back deck overlooking the lake and it was VERY relaxing! The house is clean and updated. You have access to high speed wifi and the provided large screen HD television with satellite service was nice. I met the owner (Craig) the first day we were there and he was very welcoming and gave me the run down of local restaurants to visits. The supplied charcoal BBQ was put to use the first night we were there grilling the famous Wisconsin brauts and we ate outside on the picnic table right next to the lake. I can't overstate how quiet and peaceful this place is. I'm being picky here, but if I were to point anything out it would be that the shower didn't have a shower caddy to put our bar soap on. Great place to stay and I'll be back! 5-stars definitely!!!
