beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. the gardens are lovely even though it was September and past their best. Staff were charming helpful and professional. Our room was top class with everything anyone could want.
For us the only disappointment was the food which, though nicely presented was lacking in flavour. The pea soup was so bland that it could have been anything. It was quite expensive especially the wine. In spite of this we were prepared to give it another try the next evening until we realised that it was the same menu which apparently is seasonal.

A magical place to spend a couple of nights. The grounds are exquisite and they now have dresses to try on to pretend to be from years past. Exceptional staff. Best High Tea I've ever had.

早餐不错
前台工作人员的态度不好,入住时等她漫不经心的打完电话再接待客人,退房时错误不断,从来没有遇到过如此不专业的前台人员。

It’s old and sympathetically updated
Some of the pictures are very poor copies. Brings down the tone of the artworks

Beautiful Elegant Castle, we enjoyed strolling around the garden. Breakfast was wonderful and a La carte.

Breakfast was fine.
Evening meal: there is a tendency in some luxury hotels to " overdo" the presentation/look/description of what is being served. This is OK if the actual taste is exceptional. We think this hotel should simplify the above and let good food, well prepared speak for itself. Let the quality of the ingredients ( rather than chef "artistry") shine for better, more authentic flavours.

Absolutely stunning, to be able to stay in an actual castle that Henry the 8th and Anne Boleyn stayed in was exciting enough but also to have luxurious bed chambers and amazing gardens topped off a most incredible 2 night stay. Room had an amazing, comfortable bed, coffee and tea, gin taster, robes, slippers etc was perfect! Friendly, helpful staff nothing was too much trouble.
Absolutely nothing!!! Perfect in every way.

The ambience, the history, the superb service and food. Quality of the dinner surpasses that which we had in the Savoy London in Aoril 2023.. Beautiful gardens, the signature cocktails were fantastic. Will stay again.
Nothing at all

We liked EVERYTHING about this castle --can not believe we actually got to stay there. It was my husband's birthday so we treated ourselves for 1 night here while on our 2 week trip. We stayed in the Catherine of Aragon Tower and the room was crazy -- the biggest 4 poster bed in the UK was in our room. There was a gas fire place in the room and a small wood burning fire place in the bathroom. The bathroom was HUGE and had a soaking tub and a walk in shower. The little extras like the robes and toiletries made it even more special. While old and antique, the entire castle and especially our room were extremely clean and comfy. If you want a treat, stay here.
Absolutely nothing.

Breakfast OK but cheap sausages and bacon. Not what you expect from a Relais hotel.
No holding bar in shower. Duvet MUCH too heavy and soft, and mattress lumpy. My wife had to sleep on the sofa.. Pillows too soft.
Room far too cold, had to ask for a portable heater.

The room was good. The breakfast staff were engaging. The grounds and setting were lovely. The welcome gift of sloe gin was a nice touch.
A full-length wardrobe was needed in the dressing room. The evening meal was disappointing. The lack of engagement by the staff was disconcerting. There was no real atmosphere.

This is a very well appointed property and an excellent value. The in room dining menu is also incredibly reasonable and rivals what you would pay at any local establishment, while providing above average quality. The staff is very accommodating and professional. Plan to spend more time at the property than you might expect as the library and sitting rooms are wonderfully comfortable. There are simple games available for guests as well as an impressively diverse library.
Our room was perfect and unlike many of the "castle" hotels, actually looks like it belongs in a castle. Breakfast had a decent number of selections and was perfectly prepared.
Not so much a bad thing, but one to be aware of, this is a real castle. It has the characteristics of a real castle. Your key is a large metal key in a leather lanyard. It's not a small key card you can easily slip onto a pocket or wallet while out and about.
Our room was also up a steep spiral staircase. I found this delightful but those who are less sure of their footing or have difficulty with stairs would struggle.

Lovely old historical building. Rooms were very in keeping and excellent. Loved the molton brown bathroom goods.
Would have been nice to have a chocolate on the pillow with the turn down service.

Attention to detail, on arrival the reception team started to build a guest relationship immediately. A staff member was asked to park our car, our suitcase and jackets taken to our room , we was then taken through to the library and seated next to a beautiful fire for afternoon tea, I booked this weekend to surprise my wife for her birthday, she loved it and all that went out of there way to make it special for us. Nothing was any trouble. I must make s special mention to Ben who’s knowledge of our food and wine was exceptional , please thank him for us, Natasha and every member of staff was amazing . Thank you so much ! We will be back! Andrew kersey

it was a unique experience staying in a castle and the service and ambience was simply superb. The evening meal, canapés and afternoon tea were exquisite. The English breakfast was lovely by the fireplace.
The staff were so kind and courteous. Kayla showed us around King Henry VIII bedchamber and the room with the largest four poster bed in UK. She was so accommodating and showed us around and explained with such patience.
Georgia looked after our booking and received us pleasantly upon arrival.
The gardens are lovely to take a leisurely stroll and just have an amazing retreat.
The rooms were clean, warm and beautiful with marvellous view to the castle grounds.
I have recommended this to my friends and family. It is a lovely getaway for people in UK and easy to get to by train and short taxi ride.
Also for tourists from abroad to experience castle stay in UK with all the rich history it has.
It makes for a perfect wedding venue with its lovely function room and chapel.

Beautiful castle and rooms. Staff know and appreciate that you are probably visiting to celebrate a special occasion and treat you accordingly.
Nothing really. Breakfast good but not wow.

Fabulous Castle in a great setting. Loved seeing all the work you are doing to keep it looking good and the craftsmanship shown by your builders. The staff were lovely, so kind and helpful, nothing too much trouble. Room beautifully clean, I made sure to thank the cleaner. If you want to stay in a Castle with a fantastic dining experience and perfect Tudor rooms and be treated as if what you need is the most important thing to the staff, you cannot go wrong staying here.
Are you kidding! What’s not to love about Thornbury Castle.
