The bedrooms very plain n basic old fashiond but only to sleep so not a problem

Helpful, cheery staff. Traditional old English pub / inn. Great food & selection. Good breakfast. Clean spacious room. Pool / darts available in pub. Local nature walks on doorstep. Close to other restaurants & bars.
Our double bed was two singles pushed together, which wasn’t ideal.

In a great location, just across the road from the Mere. The staff checking us in at the pub were super friendly.
The accommodation was satisfactory for what we required. A one night stop over. We booked a table for an evening meal in the pub on arrival. Glad that we did as it is a very popular place to eat. The food was great and very reasonably priced.
There isn’t anything we were really put off by. We probably wouldn’t want to stay a week there as the room, although clean and adequate wasn’t overly cosy. One easy immediate recommendation would be to have a larger mirror in the bedroom.

Nice comfortable overnight Inn with friendly helpful staff, a lively bar and a good food selection.
No breakfast till 9am. No use for the early travellers. Pub offers a breakfast take away but ours didn't arrive. Otherwise, fine.

Room was comfortable - poor view from the window but for one night that didn't worry me. Food was good.
Disappointing that the sausages were not gluten free so a choice of Mixed Grill or Full English breakfast was not feasible. But there were good alternatives.

breakfast was excellelent
beer was good and reasonably priced
one of the rooms was a double when it should have been a twin...luckily one of my party pulled out at the last minute so we didn't have to share a bed !!

Traditional English pub with good food and friendly staff.

Nice old fashioned inn
A shelf in the shower and a mattress topper as the mattress is a bit tired, also white sheets

Lovely dog friendly Inn with clean, cosy rooms and a brilliant breakfast. They even have a doggy menu! Just a 2 minute stroll from the mere and a 10 minute stroll to the Llangollen canal. Lovely place to stay and very welcoming staff.

Lovely room and had everything you needed. The staff we saw were friendly.
Price was a little high.
Breakfast wasn't great, toast cold, bacon hard and chewy, and sausages were tastless :(

Not ensuite, road outside a bit noisy

Breakfast wasn't as good as the lunch meal.

The rooms were bland and very basic

The staff and the food were amazing, always smiling and lovely. We took our dog, and they are very dog friendly.
Ellesmere is a really pretty town, but the mere is staggering, I walked the dog around most of it (unable to circumnavigate due to private land)., and it was beautiful.
Our room was cold on arrival, but we mentioned it to the staff and it was resolved in less than 5 minutes. Really commendable, thank you.

The staff were amazing. The food in the pub was excellent, large portions , good menu, very nicely presented . The breakfast was very filling and had choices.
Room even though dated were lovely and clean...it is an old building so to be expected.
Beds were comfy and shower lovely and hot.
Good tourist pack .Plenty of coffee and tea , no problem when requested top up.
The staff were always really helpful and nothing was to much trouble.
I would recommend as long as heating issues and WiFi were sorted, especially for a winter visit.
Sadly the heating was playing up, and had no WiFi. The staff always reacted when we requested to try and sort.
Never managed to get on WiFi, but I believe there was a network issue.
We didn't realise we needed to book for the evening meal for the Saturday evening, they kindly fitted us in but was late.
Perhaps a reminder on the breakfast times left in the room would be ideal.
Another chair would have been useful as there was only one in the room, which was for a family of 4.

Nice friendly people with a good room and great breakfast to set you up for the day

The evening meal was very good, as was the breakfast. The pub is located close to the mere so we had a pleasant evening stroll to have a look. I have never seen so many gulls in the same place. There were thousands on the lake.
Shared bathroom, which we knew about, might not be convenient for some. The room was on the small side but acceptable for an overnight stay.

Food and the room and the pub
Noises from traffic at night

Nice and quiet, staff were lovely. Handy location. Tv channel options were great as we didn't pack entertainment for our short stay.
We didn't have the opportunity to have breakfast as we would have liked due to our own circumstances. If we are in Ellesmere to stay again we will definitely be joining for brekky aswell 😊
If i had to note something, could do with a small desk in the room but wasnt a massive issue.

Everything. Staff were lovely. Room was huge and well stocked. The old feel of the building was felt inside the room with certain aspects, even though it was modernised and new. Shower was lovely.
Leaving to go home after a delicious breakfast.
