自分の体調が良ければハンモックに揺られながらみんなとわいわい出来る宿！

３泊しました。シェンクワンの夜は寒いので、シャワーから温かいお湯が出たことで助かりました。　他のお客さんとのお喋りも楽しみにしていましたが、日中ジャール平原で熱中症になり体調不良になったり、別の友人との会食のため、参加できなかったことが残念です。皆さん楽しそうでしたよ。　夜に出歩く場合、門扉が閉まってしまう事もあるので戻る時間をオーナーに伝えておいた方が良いかも知れません。

向かいの市場？が倒産して廃墟となっている関係で、女性が一人であるくには夜道が若干怖い印象があったので、少しマイナスにしましたが、皆さん素敵な笑顔で対応してくださったので好感をもちました。　犬も歩いていますが、吠えて追いかけてきたりはしませんし、ラオスの標準的な様子だと思うので特に気になりませんでした。

Amazing place

Very nice and charismatic host who is keen on organizing tours and further transport. I loved the bonfire that the family lights every evening inside of an old bomb shell. Great atmosfere all around. Nice private rooms with fans, mosquito nets, bathrooms etc. Very calm place. I loved it.

Large distance to town center, which means you are dependant on tuktuks or a scooter which one may rent on place.

Énorme coup de cœur… inoubliable

Tout est parfait dans cette « vraie » guesthouse On se sent immédiatement comme chez soi Un feu est allumé matin et soir, où tout le monde se retrouve autour d’une bière … très convivial Les chambres et salles de bain sont bien équipées (eau chaude, brasseur d’air, moustiquaire ….) Et on peut tout réserver sur place ( excursion pour la plaine des jarres, ticket de bus …) Et surtout …. on vient ici avant pour Mr Kong, propriétaire des lieux mais qui propose aussi la visite de La Plaine des Jarres …. il est le meilleur guide de toute la région. C’est un passionné, il vous emmène hors des sentiers battus et il rend cette journée inoubliable, avec en prime, beaucoup d’humour…. énorme coup de cœur …1000 mercis pour cet incroyable séjour

Ok base for exploring Phonsavan

Kong was friendly with excellent English, free water refill, tea & coffee available, good wifi Lots of convenience stores - Tom & Jerry bakery for light breakfast & cakes Western breakfast - recommend Santisouk Cafe (part of a local language school) a short walk away or Cranky T's See You Again Chinese - Beef Noodles are tasty! Bombies is good for dinner - wouldn't recommend Craters Can get much cooler at night, but heat picks up in the day - layers & coat recommended Phonsavan is worthy of a good 2 days/ 3 nights, with various sites & towns to visit, plus it gives your body & mind time to recover from the journey and prep for the next one...! Scooter hire was good - delivered with full tank of fuel (which we filled on return) and POJ can be easily visited without a guide but obviously you don't get the knowledge, however visit Xieng Khouang Provincial Museum which helps explain some background & history Also recommend heading over to Muang Khoun, ancient capital of the region - many temple ruins next to new ones (approx 1hr drive, get back before dark as no street lights & mega holes in the road!) MAG centre is also worth a good hour of your time learning about UXO Tham Piew Cave (can't go in far, more a tragic place of remembrance, only need 30 mins there) it's a beautiful 1.5hr drive, stop at the ASA Hot Springs Resort on your return for a nice pit stop & reasonable price food *Journey time from Vang Vieng & Luang Prabang is currently a 9 hour, very dusty & bumpy bus journey (not 6hrs as advertised) Bus/ minvan advice - Kong can arrange tuktuk, be at the station 1hr before departure to get a seat (seat numbers ignored), cover backpacks as tarp isn't always used, expect to get dusty, take water & snacks, toilet stops will vary could be hours between depending on the driver and expect them to cram passengers in filling the aisle with a 'box seat'...

Very basic rooms, tiny bathroom, bedding consisted of 3 different sheets & blanket combo which tangled in the night Thin walls and sound travels, other guests slam doors unnecessarily Loud neighbours of the property - babies crying, dogs barking, music playing at night etc...it's Asia after all, travel with ear plugs & eye mask for thin curtains

Wonderful guesthouse with lovely hosts

Kong and his family were great hosts. Our room was perfect for what we needed, clean and comfortable. The fire that we sat around each evening chatting to Kong and the other guests was a highlight. But the best part was the plain of jars your we went on with Kong, he was a great guide and it was an amazing day. Fully recommend !

Great base for exploring the region

A host full of useful information. Spacious individual rooms. Lovely garden. Sweet family. Tea and coffee and bananas all day. Communal area with beers and fire. Phonsavan attracts a more adventurous crowd so good chats can be had. Lots of hot water. Central location for ATMs, bakeries, coffee, Lao and western food, markets.

LA GUESTHOUSE DE RÊVE ,A NE PAS LOUPER.

Kongkeo guesthouse est vraiment le lieu sympa à tous les niveaux. Les chambres, le lieu, le quartier, la famille et surtout Le BOSS Mr "King" Kongkeo, Il fera tout pour vous êtres agréable ,expliquer, renseigner, arranger, bref le guesthouse ideal . Rencontres, échanges, bonne literie choix matelas dur ou mou ? premiere fois pour moi que l'on me demande ce choix! l'eau est parfaitement chaude ,ce qui était important car lors de notre séjour une vague de froid s'est invitée . Prévoyez affaire en consequence si vous faites de la moto, qui sont impeccable et louées ici même . le lieu commun où deus bombes américaines coupées en deux ,servent de cheminée le soir et au petit matin et vous réchauffent en prenant un thé ou café ,café au lait gratis et à volonté ainsi que fruits de saison ,pour nous petites bananes (mignonettes à la Réunion ) Kong peut vous organiser toutes les visites et vous y emmener si vous ne voulez pas faire de moto ,et s'occupe de votre transport pour votre destination de votre choix . Quoi de mander de plus à une guesthouse parfaite?

Si vous contiez louer des motos afin d'aller au-delàs de Phonsavan ex Sam Neua ou Vieng Xai environ 250 km pres frontière Vietnamienne passer quelques jours , il vous sera impossible de louer des motos pour cela .Aucun loueur de motos ne veulent que les motos quittent la ville et ses environs .Nous étions déçus car c'est ce que nous pratiquons généralement . Mais bon il y a plus grave dans la vie et avons trouvé notre compte a visiter Phonsavan et ses environs .

Just awesome!

I am 62 years old and have been a traveler all my life and this the first time I have ever left a review. I feel compelled to do it because this such an amazing place to stay. I booked for 2 nights and stayed for 4. Some travellers end up staying for a month! If you have been on the road for a while then this is the perfect place to chill and reset. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the older ones are fine but if you can afford just a couple of dollars more for a new one then do it! Brand new beds, strong hot shower. Kong, the owner is an awesome guy, they have a fire every night where you can sit and chat with fellow travellers from all over the world, Kong estimates that he has had people from approximately 100 countries. He is very entertaining and a wealth of knowledge. As a traveler I normally like to find my own way to the sites but in this case I strongly recommend taking a tour to the Plain of Jars with Kong, you will learn so much more about the place than if you just went there by yourself for a look. Do yourself a favour and get yourself to this place!

Ci tornerei subito!

Casette carine anche se molto fredde, però le coperte che forniscono permettono di dormire al caldo (solo uscire la notte dalle coperte per andare in bagno è un po' difficile). Acqua caldissima e bagno grande Wifi ottimo Posto accogliente, in reception c'è un fuoco acceso e tutti si mettono lì attorno a fare chiacchiere serali, molto carino!

Propongono tour molto più costosi di posti trovati sulla strada principale. Ma per il resto niente da ridire, è un bellissimo posto.

Best Guest House in Phonsavan

The owner Kong is the best host you can imagine. Nothing beter than relax in the evening around the fire, talk and enjoying a beer. The rooms were nice and clean with extra blankets. We did a tour with Kong to visit the plain of jars and it was great!

The host Kong is amazing. While his English is decent, he is extremely enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. We did the tour of the 3 main plain of jars with him and it was completely worth it. The rooms are good value for money, and as it is located in a hidden street it is very quiet. 100% recommend!

A very good pick for accommodation and tour

I you go to Phonsavan you should definately stay here. Mr. Kong is a knowledgeable man and you get so much information about Laos ana the Jar Site if you go along one of his tours. There are plenty of good restaurants very close to the guest house. Do expect a lot of good laugh as Mr. Kong is quite funny too. We would definitely stay here again.

Bedding was warm and clean The owner was really warm and we had a great conversation Toasty fire to watch while drinking complentary coffee Come stay here and you can learn a lot about Laos in a beautiful local setting. The orchids are a nice touch

The mattress was a little uncomfortable until I used the bedding for cushioning

Kong and his family are amazing hosts! It felt like I was welcomed in a home, not an impersonal and cold hostel. I ended up staying one week. My sheets and towel were changed within the week. The location is great, one street away from the center but very peaceful and safe and I had an amazing sleep. Mr Kong is very knowledgeable about lao history (and world current affairs) and he took the time to tell us about all that in details. He and his family are so nice and available for questions. I would come back with no hesitation

great place to stay on a short term basis whilst visiting the plain of jars

basic but serviceable, beautiful plants around the property, fire burning on cooler evenings. Kong is a great host and his tour is well guided; it’s clear he is very knowledgable.

Location near the main street. Water always available. The host helps you organize your trips. Water in the shower was really hot (even too much) and the temperature of the room was ok even at night (when it gets quite cold) because the blankets were sufficient.

Be aware that if you are alone you might not be able to do the complete tour of the plain of jars, unless you are willing to pay 80$. I found this out when I arrived and I was told that since there were no other turists in town (apparently) the group tours couldn't be organized and if I was to do the tour alone I would have to pay 80$, which I obviously couldn't. So eventually they told me I could book a tuktuk for 15$ but he could only take me to the site number 1. Kind of a bummer considering there's nothing else to see in the area. Pillows were too hard and thick.

Kong's Guesthouse is a good budget option in Phonsavanh. It is very basic, but clean, and scalding hot water which is important because there is no heating, and it gets very cold (night temp down to 4-5 degrees C) and I have to add 2 additional blankets at night to sleep comfortably. Location is good as right in town, but the town itself has very limited dining options. Owner runs good tour to Plain of Jars and organizes transport for you. Overall a good value budget option for a short visit, just don't forget warm clothes.

Clean, inexpensive bungalow rooms in convenient location

Very convenient location walking distance to multiple restaurants. Room was very clean and the proprietor was very nice and friendly. Convivial fire pit under open air roofed lobby area will appeal to some (I have asthma so couldn’t sit near smoke). Reasonably priced.

Rooms were unheated and quite cold in December. Maybe not an issue in other months. Proprietor provided us with many blankets which was much appreciated but a space heater could have helped. Or a hot water bottle which would not cost much.
