Location was good, in the heart of Poitiers.
Landlady was rude and unhelpful.
Unwilling to communicate in English.
Phoned for late arrival and was threatened with cancellation. Unwilling to provide access to courtyard on arrival for car parking.
Had to communicate through a third party French speaker who was able to get agreement for key collection upon late arrival.
Landlady was able to communicate quite clearly when charging (more than was stated on booking) for two dogs.

La situation idéale pour visiter à pied...
Le lit et les voisins bruyant

Quietish. Location.
Lots of narrow stairs. Had to ask for directions only 30 my from entrance.
No hot water, at my arrival.. 22:00 hrs.
No tea or coffee facilities in room.

What a rancid little hovel, the property was grotty and dirty, stained in many places, an overwhelming aroma of stale body odour throughout only sickly sweetened by the vast amount of air purifiers.
The room was extremely basic, tired and small, again dirty in places and very clostraphobic, all furnishings were threadbare.
It was so bad myself and my partner left immediately and booked into another property. On exiting we were met by several 'local street characters' in a very poor state who apparently are now guests of the hotel.
As an aside our new found hotel was under the impression that the Au Chapon no longer operated as a hotel...?

Fantastic location
Car park was a nightmare in a large car.
3.4
Closeness to the town square. Convenient parking at the hotel.
Housekeeping was only once the whole week we were there. I think the bed was changed and the towels were. Yes the hotel had wifi. There was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. You could get coffee from the owners but we didn't as when we were quoted 18 euros for breakfast we thought this option of coffee maybe expensive. The rooms could do with a general update of the decor. The bedding was white but the throwover had large dye marks and was puckered due to its age. The sink drainage ran very very slow and at one point we could have done with a plunger. One of the overheard lights was out and neither of the above bed lights even had bulbs in them.

This is the 4th time I have stayed here... Twice as a family of 4 and twice as a couple.
Location is amazing... And parking is available at a small cost.. which you will be thankful for in Poitiers. The rooms are comfortable, and clean, and they give you two pillows.... My last three stays had only one really thin pillow....
There are a few things that you could grumble about. However, price? No.. Location? No. Value for money? No.
An earlier reviewer commented that they were so disappointed that they checked into The Best Western..... What where they expecting?' at the price offered... ? The Best Western is not in the main town square. The Chapon is and some rooms have balconies that offer you views over the main square of Poitiers...

the location is just the best you can ask for when it comes to the centre of Poitiers. for one night stay that’s all you need.
super tiny car park, which you need to pay extra for. smallest lift I’ve ever seen, can fit one person with some luggage. very narrow and steep staircase. very outdated interiors.

we arrived in the middle of the night, the hotel was friendly and the guard opend up to let us in and help uns with the parking.
3.4
Good location as it’s right in the centre. Secure parking which was great for us on a motorcycle. Staff were helpful.
Room was a bit dated and tired looking. Was a bit noisy on the Saturday night.

Fantastic location in the city centre
We have 2 children and we were given a room on the very top floor and offered no help with our luggage. We also booked and pre paid for breakfast but they charged for this again.. also despite very hot conditions the aircon was not working..

Non applicable went to Best Western
Everything other than location and a clean but very basic room with no comforts.

Location at the city center close to all facilities
The hotel is not suited for a family trip. We were looking for hotel to go to futuroscope. The main issue is that car parking closes before the end of the night session at the park.

I would not know, I was suck in CDG Airport and could not make it to the hotel and the staff were very unhelpful.
I was stuck in Paris at the airport, I tried calling the hotel to ask if they could please change my dates or help cancel my reservation. The person at the end of the line could not speak a word of English. Unfortunately, I dont speak French too. I called Booking.com, they helped make the request to the hotel and the hotel declined. So I had to pay for the room even though I was stuck in Paris

The hotel was situated at the centre of the town. The rooms were okay eventhough the stairs were steep.
The hotel was difficult to reach by car.

Great location in the centre of Poitiers. Friendly staff, very clean room, and extremely comfortable beds.
Only downside was that there was no plug for the bath and no shower curtain, so when you had a shower, no matter how carefully, the water went everywhere....

To be able to chose the room
A quieter breakfast

Lights not working and only one towel.
The window, stairwell and convenient parking.

it was really cosy and with a wonderful view . You can see the city center from the balcony
It wasn't a spacious room like I anticipated

Location, price and breakfast
No natural light. No electrical socket. En suite very narrow and door didn't close completely

Central. Good bars and restaurants.
Manager Isabel was a very rude lady. Woke us up early with a problem, she asked it so badly. Not friendly and yelling: Move Your car!!! I think she is killing the company, shouting and being very angry makes no sense. Never had this experience in my life. No response on questions afterwards, anoying me.
Hotel is very out dated, smelling the cleaning spray everywhere and all the shower equipement is broken (room 314). It was horrible. Also parking is very small, why 8 cars in this spot instead of 6?
We loved this city with good cafés and restaurants, but we hate Isabel.

Liked the view over the square.Large choice of restaurants. Can strongly recommend La Moustache (?) nearby. Great food , nice staff.
Made the mistake of parking the car then finding the hotel. Extremely difficult to get the hotel parking, narrow streets, prolific no entry signs.

The host was so helpful and such a nice person. Unfortunately driving our car to the location just didnt happen despite so much help. We had to just go back to the car and drive to another location to stay the night. Despite the booking being non refundable the host stated he wouldnt charge us for the night as he felt bad too that after a hour of trying to gain entrance to the car park we just had to give up. There was lots of road work going on. I never went into the facility so I cannot give feedback on that.
The road issues that stopped us being able to get there.
