The staff were great we stayed here before going to Pembury to have our baby. Went into labour that night so only slept a few hours.
Nothing

The parking was £10 but well worth it!
The bed was seriously comfy!
The breakfast was outstanding!
I had 3 phone calls before arriving trying to get me to upgrade which seems excessive.

It was in walking distance to exploring the town.
Food was average, expected more from the menu.
Huge comfortable bed.
The Hotel is extremely tired and in need of a revamp. Pictures on their website are obviously from when it was in top form. We stayed in the Yearing Station Suite which had everything we needed including room service, but decor and furnishings sadly in need of upgrading, room really spacious.

Location is good, staff are friendly and helpful
Rooms are poorly soundproofed allowing noise to travel from adjacent room. Kitchen was having a bad day, and bad following morning too (it’s hard work to burn a kipper but they managed it)

Stunning gardens
Ideal location for a family Wedding at The Beacon
Rooms a little tired & small.
We upgraded to have a bath, but room was still small.
Young staff & perhaps need a bit more experience.

The decor, high standards across the board, the room, the restaurant, the staff.
Absolutely nothing negative to report

Good reserved parking place. Beautiful old hotel. Well preserved. Most beautiful very large suite. Good working airco.
Nice large shower. Clean. Excellent very large bed. Ideal for the dog. Also we could not eat with the dog in the restaurant, there is a nice area next to the bar with the same delicious food. And awesome whiskeys....
4 minutes drive from the hotel is a large park where dogs can run free. The rear side of the hotel is beautiful, the front side quit close to a busy street. In the evening some drunk people....
Very poor reception. Not too nice receptionist on arrival. Room already paid, guarantee on Amex card and still 200 Pounds deposit. Which you only get back much later. Is that normal in UK? Lift too small for trolley. We had a lot of luggage because of dog. No one to help. 4 times up and down to distant room on 2nd floor. Had dog attached to radiator for a while but she could pull the radiator off the wall😢and was moved while we were carrying the luggage.
Problem: we look 50 but are 76 and 69.....Would have appreciated some help. Dogs not allowed in restaurant, bar and lounge. Only were there are wooden floors. Too bad there is no connection between the hotel garden and the large park directly behind it. Now big detour to walk there. Was beautifull weather but lunch on terrace only from May. Other guests also complained not possible to have food outside. No wall socket right next to the bed. But after a difficult start ........everything went much better.

The first room I was shown was tiny and smelled bad. I asked for a different room and was given a beautiful room which was huge

The room, although described as "cozy" was big enough for us. The room had all the amenities we needed. The location allowed us to explore the area comfortably.
The food at the restuarant could have been better. The dim lights, intended to create an ambience, meant that the light was too low for us to read the menu and the bill.

Beautiful building and lovely decor. Staff were very friendly and helpful

The hotel is what you expect from hotel du vin, classy, comfortable and traditional. we had a dog with us and while he was welcome in the room he wasn’t allowed in part of the hotel like the restaurant
having a dog and being limited to only the bar area

good location
small room, quite basic and expensive

Vegetarian breakfast poor, sausages inedible eggs tasted strange
The room was on the other side of the car park

I liked the general ambiance and location, the public rooms, our room and bathroom, particularly the solidity of the furnishings, the friendliness of the staff, and breakfast.
I can never understand why hotels provide only one chair when there is room for two and it is a double room! We had to ask at midday for our room to be serviced. I appreciate that hotels are generally trying to save the planet by economising on room service! The bathroom was attractive but rather dated, particularly the high-sided bath. At 5ft 9in with arthritis I managed to clamber over the side to use the fantastic shower! But, a hinged transparent side panel made it impossible to turn off either shower or bath, in the event that you had not done this properly the first time, without clambering back into the bath!

Rebecca (I think is her name!) at reception was super helpful with a last-minute unexpected change to our room requirements. We'd have had to cancel our stay otherwise so it was greatly appreciated.

A lovely boutique hotel right in the middle of the main shopping / city area. You cannot get a better location for a city visit. Rooms are very well noise insulated so you have no idea that you're in a bustling noisy city center.
Classic style, clean and enjoyable. Fantastic staff, really nice breakfast, comfy beds, modern functional bathrooms, everything you require of a great hotel.

great room, amazing bathroom, clean, brilliant room service !
breakfast was poor.
food quality was questionable , asked for pouches eggs they were very over cooked and inedible. bacon was poorly cooked too, no check back to see if everting was ok …….. also the beans were Luke warm .
based on the cost I would give breakfast a 4.5 out of 10.
