Corridors could do with a paint ! They has an rather unpleasant smell too
A fridge in the room would be useful

Lovely location and some nice extra touches like beer and crisps
Unfortunately I assumed my son knew breakfast was included as I had booked it as a treat for him and his girlfriend ,chap behind the counter only stated time of breakfast and so they didn't have it as they thought they'd have to pay ....kids eh

Nice hotel right in town centre. Clean and tidy but slightly iffy smells in common areas, likely because old building. Only 5 breakfast choices which were fixed.
It noisy between room and corridor. The room was also very hot. Bed was too soft.

Friendly staff, clean and great location
Restaurant in the evening once we had ordered our food service very slow no one checking up to see if we require more drinks had to go up to the bar.

Food good . Room good. parking good. Location good..Nothing really bad at about the hotel and staff.
I know its not the hotels fault but the damm seagulls kept us awake most of the night. we had to keep windows open due to the heat. Then deliveries started very early morning...before 6 am. A security light was also on most the night.
To help eye shades and earplugs could be a good addition to rooms.

Very pleased with Hotel & friendly staff overall & standard of good breakfast but a little disappointed with some evening dinner food choices & prices. On one occasion a menu food choice was unavailable due to shortage was disappointing . However, we enjoyed our stay & certainly would come again in future , the location was ideal for a relaxing break.
All good accept some reservation concerning evening meal menu choices & prices, particularly deserts could be a little more adventurous with different menu choices.

Family suite at The Crown is perfect for two couples as there’s a separate adjoining private lounge you can utilise. A really old Inn with all the key features and knocks and crannies preserved. Right in the High Street, so really well positioned to explore all that Southwold has to offer.
it’s a bit pricey, but totally in line with other properties in that area.

We had a fabulous 2 night stay at the Crown. Crucially for Southwold, it has onsite parking for resident guests. We were in a "comfy" room which was spacious and well appointed. We liked the bathroom so much we might design our one at home to match. The reception staff were very helpful - phoning within half an hour of our leaving to let us know my husband had left some fairly crucial belongings in the bedroom and when they couldn't immediately reach us on the phone, they left a note on our car that was still parked in their car park - really great attention to detail. We really liked the back bar for a cozy late evening drink and the lounge for guests which was a really nice "home from home" touch without having the expense of booking a suite. We dined there on one of the two nights and had an excellent meal. Would definitely recommend.
I think there must have been a different chef for breakfast as for dinner. Dinner was superb. By contrast, breakfast was pretty average. The first morning was fine but the second morning, my husband's bacon was burned and my pancakes were swimming in maple syrup. It wasn't a critical fail but it was obvious when everything else was so well executed.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. The location was perfect. We had a lovely couple of days in Southwold and would recommend the hotel and the area.

Although the hotel is in central Southwold, our front bedroom was nicely quiet as it was out of season. Very comfortable, with helpful local staff good menu and a nice atmosphere. Only a short walk to the sea front and walks along the beach.
Did not mind this, but maybd worth noting that some staircases are a little wonky as you'd expect in a building of this age. And a visitor of a certain age too.

Large bedroom and bathroom larger than average hotel rooms.
Nicely decorated/ appointed bathroom
Restaurant area nicely decorated
Staff helpful and pleasant
As said by previous reviewers the bedroom furnishings and corridors leading to the bedrooms are very tired.
Vegetarian breakfast although very nice was much much smaller than meat alternative so didn't represent good value for money. (2 mushrooms 1 tomato, portion of baked beans and 1 egg. Smoked tofu was also available but we didn't fancy it for breakfast)

our room was very nice and well furnished. It contained everything that we required. lovely selection of teas and even cafetière coffee.
despite the radiators our room was very cold and uncomfortable. The dining room also was not a comfortable temperature. it was a very cold day, but despite my warm appropriate clothing I it made our stay rather uncomfortable.

Everything
Like in all pubs and most hotels in Southwold, Adnams operate a monopoly for alcoholic drinks. it was impossible to buy Guinness or proprietary brands of gin, vodka and even most wines carry the Adnams brand.

better quality pillows please.

Location was excellent right in the centre of town with parking. Very easy walk to the sea. Lovely restaurant with excellent breakfast and dinner available. Old building nicely maintained
Steep steps to the room. View of the brewery though this was interesting if noisy first thing in the morning.
