We stayed here because we went to visit Tikal, so the location was the reason why we stayed there.
The establishment's politics and food pricing are terrible. We ate at the hotel restaurant, obviously since there's no other choices available.
When we sat down, I asked the waiter for water and he said I had to buy a 1 liter bottle for Q25, which is about $3.25 and I couldn't just get tap water, hotel policy didn't allow it.
The food was very bland, had almost no flavor, the portions were very small for what they charged. I ordered a palm heart salad and asked to add chicken to it; this costed and extra Q40 ($7.00)
The sad part is that there's nothing you can do, they are the only option available, which is why they take advantage of it.
My recommendation to anyone looking to visit Tikal is to do a day tour from Flores, do not stay at this place, you're going to regret it

What didn’t we like? The hotel is in the middle of the jungle. You could see the monkeys and bird from the swimming pool. You go to bed and wake up with the jungle noises, it really is an experience. With a two minutes walk you are in Tikal.
There was A fan on the ceiling, but it was a bit warm at night. The food and drink was expensive but if this is a problem then there are other eating possibilities in the area :)

Within the Tikal AP boundaries - many walking trails/ponds - excellent house guides - comfortable room with shared washrooms - bed with mosquito net - nice jungle hotel
poor communication; overcooked burger; palatable food; interesting staff

Location within the national park. Close to the monuments.
Excellent breakfasts (for which one paid).

Beautiful, lush jungle property located right at the park entrance. I stayed in a twin room in the hostel section and it was clean and mattress very comfy. Mosquito nets helpful. Designated power off times take getting used to but not a dealbreaker, you learn to plan your time accordingly. Not much privacy with the screen only windows but that also allowed airflow and access to jungle noises, a def plus! Shared bathrooms were generally clean (except when using after messy people) but honestly it was a bit scary when you needed to go in the middle of the night during off power hours because it’s pitch black out there! Just bring your flashlight and shut the door behind you so nothing wanders in lol! Lastly, despite quite a few negative reviews here I thought the food was solid. Does anyone really expect Michelin star quality this deep in the jungle and at this price point? Come on now. Would like to see more local Guatemalan fare. Loved the maracuya cheesecake! Burger nice, good crisp fries. Juice in the morning tasty.
Tour booking. It was unnecessarily complicated. I would think it being the premiere resort in the park that the park would allow the lodge to handle guests’ booking directly. Also I got hurt on day one (slipped on mossy rock and hyperextended my knee pretty badly. It ruined my trip since I was unable to hike out to the sites let alone climb any stairs! I won’t know results till I get it xrayed back home) and all they offered was $15 off the $75 I spent overall for park entry online in advance for 2 days, a sunset and sunrise tour (you have to pay $15 per person each tour and entry but no one told me till I checked in that there’s also an additional $15 for the guide. Just a little transparency would help here). And the fact that they wouldn’t refund when I clearly couldn’t even walk is so unsympathetic. I think exceptions should be made for injury especially on park grounds. Still loved it there and hope to come back another time since being injured you miss the whole point of being there.

It was a short distance from the park to the hotel and vice versa.
Transportation to and from the hotel is limited and can ve quite costly, depending on time of arrival. Wifi is not very strong. Double room has open window next to restaurant which was quite loud. Having to purchase a park pass for entry despite arriving just a little before 6pm seemed wrong.

Within the national park so you could hear the Howler monkeys at night. Kinda creepy if I didn't know what those were. There is a restaurant onsite so that was great after a long day in the park
Very basic room.

The overall location was amazing, being able to walk to the park multiple times a day is a huge advantage. The bathroom was the best shared bathroom I have ever seen in a hostel.

The location was great and the pool was nice and cool as needed after a hike in the jungle
The food was average at best and really over priced.
I feel they cash in on the location as the entire experience feel over priced
4.5
The location is perfect, right next to the park entrance
They almost force you to buy bottled water, there isn’t any way to refill wattle bottles.

The location was perfect. It was wonderful to be able to come home mid-day from touring Tikal to cool off with a swim in the pool. Food was tasty and staff very friendly.
When the power gets cut at night and the fans go off, the rooms become stiffingly hot. Only dropping to 82' f in the evenings, it was very difficult to sleep without the fan.

Beautiful location near the park, jungle setting, tours, wild animals, nice facilities.
They only sell water in plastic bottles. I think for the price of the rooms and for the sake of the environment they should have water refill stations for guests. It's a very simple thing to offer.

The location is perfect. Lovely pool, and very pleasant restaurant. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean. There was a very interesting free documentary on which we very much enjoyed watching.
It was not clear in the booking that there was no ensuite bathroom! Not even a sink in the room! We had to use communal bathrooms, which was very inconvenient, especially at night when there was no electricity - another thing which was not made clear in the booking!

The Jungle Lodge Tikal Hostal is located directly in the Tikal National Park which makes you feel like part of the jungle, including the howling monkeys during nights. The setting is beautiful and the Hostal is located on the same premises with the hotel - you can use the same pool and restaurant. The Hostal has shared bathrooms and showers and they were always kept clean. The location inside the park allows you to access the park as the first people if you book the sunrise tour.
Location inside the park requires extra planning to get there. It takes 75-90 minutes by car from Flores. The hotel organises transfer from Flores to Tikal only once a day, at 16:50 for 20 dollars with return. Our shuttle from Lanquin arrived later than that and we were left to organise our own transport to the hotel which became fairly expensive. You also need to book your return shuttle from the hotel to Flores in advance as they have limited seats. The communication with the hotel employees wasn’t always the best. E.g. We never got response to our message on Booking when we asked about the transport options.
As the hotel setting is so beautiful, you would expect a similar level from the restaurant. During the times we were ordering food there were not many other people in the restaurant but we would wait up to an hour for our food - this delay was also not communicated in any of the times we were ordering. The quality of the food could also be better. We ended up getting a stomach flu and unfortunately suspect that it came from the restaurant.
Internet is very slow even at the main house.

Clean room, nice main building
No free water in a hot jungle....
Small portions and a bit overpriced

Tikal is amazing. they sell it as a day trip from flores and that seems rushed to me. I would recommend at least one night. That will give you the opportunity to spend more time for sunrise and sunset. The hotel is beautiful and the staff are lovely. I forgot my swim shorts and they put a lot of effort to get them back to me. The food is good.

Very close to the ruins, spacious rooms, clean common facilities. They have a very nice restaurant too.
There was no hot water. The hotel is in the jungle, so after a long hot day, it does not matter. :)

Amazing location, walking distance to Tikal. Loved being woken up by the Howler monkeys. Food in the restaurant was great.

Really nice restaurant with lots of food options. Rooms nice and functional.
Busy hostel and people on different schedules, meaning disturbed sleep.

Location is good if you want to visit Tikal, but very remote and the shuttle to get there is not very well organised. Only runs a few times per day, very expensive and not included in the room price.
We originally planned to stay for 2 nights, but we left the lodge 1 day earlier than planned for a number of reasons:
1, the service and a food was incredibly bad in the restaurant, the eggs that was served to us as breakfast were cold and felt half baked;
2, our room had a terrible smell,
3, the bathrooms were in terrible condition every time we wanted to use them and there was no hot water,
4, at checkout the ladies at the reception tried to charge us with services that we have already paid (e.g. sunrise tour) and were not at all helpful with our problems,
5, the staff barely speak English and not even trying to understand the guests without Spanish knowledge,
Based on the above, I reached out to the lodge to reimburse us for the second night of the stay, but of course they were not helpful.
4.5
Beautiful lodge located in the middle of the jungle, sleeping in between howler monkeys and spider monkeys
The room smelt like the mold on the wall. Around the bathroom area it also smelt really bad.

The two young girls ( Precilia and Yesenia ) and the older man at the reception were suuuuuuper helpful and friendly. Also Lucio, the driver.
The food and drinks were delicious ! One of the best pina coladas i’ve ever had ! Osvin and the rest of the staff were very professional and friendly. The rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Last bust not least, the location is great ! It’s just next to the Tikal national park which allows you to be free and really take your time + explore.
