The Skjolden Hotel was the high point of my trip. I was passing through the area and stayed for three nights. I was immediately captivated by the view of the fjord, then stayed for the excellent food from the kitchen and the lovely staff. if I had the time I would have stayed for a week.
nothing to add here

Parking was just off site in a public area but it was free and easy to use with plenty of space. Whether that would be the case in high season might be debatable.
Nice location
Shower seals ineffective - whole of bathroom floor therefore gets wet

we really liked the view and location in the town.
the breakfast was a good surprise as well.
No TV and fridge in the room.
The rate price/quality is too high, because it is missing a lot of details.
The shower is a disaster, waters all the bathroom.

The dinner
This hotel is overprized, the pictures does not represent the poor standard. The beds were too hard, the bathroom too small to sit properly on the toilet. The room smelled like food, especially in the morning. The staff did not respond well to the feedback, and on top of everything they tried to bill us 50 € too much.

Great location with spectacular views and a very warm welcome. Room was small but spotless with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Had fish and chips cooked by the english chef - excellent! Also the hotel has its own brewery with an interesting selection of beers on offer. Good hearty breakfast including a nordik take on the full english.
Nothing - this is a great place to stay.
4.1
The location of the Hotel, the view of the fiord from the room and the breakfast.
The rooms had very thin walls, we could not sleep, as we could hear people in the adjoining room talking till late at night and snoring after that. We had prepaid the room and when I offered my prepaid forex card for payment of dinner, which was not nice fish and chips, the Manager took the room price off my card again. On being told that the room was already paid for, she said she always takes payment directly, so I should not worry, whereas on Booking.com, payment is handled by Booking, not by the Hotel. Only at my insistence was Booking contacted by her and informed of the situation. Booking has said the amount paid directly to it, will be refunded, I am still awaiting the refund.

This hotel is a true treasure - not just because of the amazing location, but mostly because of the great staff. We only stayed one night, but felt so welcome, just as if we were their regular guests. Rooms are small, but clean and comfortable & with the most amazing view over fjord.
I was only missing a hair dryer as it was still pretty cold outside for wet hair.

Good choice of continental breakfast or Full English Breakfast. excellent quality of service at the Table and from Hotel Kitchen. Beautiful views in the Fjord.
all ok. All fine.

The most amazing view ever, super nice and helpful staff. Great 3 course dinner and wine recommendations.

breakfast was good. Staff very helpful.
no soundproofing between rooms. If you’re 6’ tall, your knees hit wall in front of toilet. Shower floor tilted into rest of bathroom so water from shower flowed onto the rest of the bathroom floor.
Terrible value for price of room.
