It was close to a wedding we were attending
The rooms smelt strongly of cooking which I understand is unavoidable in a small pub, the bedding was grubby and there was no blind in the bathroom window that was a large window facing into a main road.

Warm welcome. Excellent dinner. Great location. Good size room. Very dog friendly.

The staff where lovely and well accommodating. We was a party of 15. I expected it to be rooms above a pub but in fact it was like converted barns where you can just walk into once parked up. This makes it so much easier especially with loads of luggage and the rooms where lovely and clean. The little touches in the rooms where of high quality standard and the fresh glass bottled water went down a treat. Beds where huge and comfortable. I'd defo recommended to anyone.
There was nothing we didn't like.

Quirky converted stables bedroom behind the pub and got car parked at the door. Nice and quiet.
No real complaint but one for the owner to consider. We were in the Tack Room and 2 little windows above the door didn't have a blind. Got light very early.

Away from motorway noise but fairly close to junction on the A1M. A good family run pub.
No complaints.

Looked like a cute village and quiet.
On arrival the staff seemed totally disinterested in us. Checked into the room which was cold and dark. Then we were told that there was a quiz on that night and that it would be noisy. We sat on the bed and realised it was lumpy. We pulled back the duvet to find blood stained sheets and hairs all over the bed! The sheets were also creased as if the sheets hadnt been changed at all! The mattress protectors were also the same, full of hairs and creased. Not even pulled tight over the bed. We complained and they offered to change the sheets. They took so long to get back to us it was like they were trying to find clean sheets! We decided not to stay any longer adnd asked for our money back which they gave us. The staff saw us leaving and made a faint effort to apologise. They were disinterested in the whole thing. Will definitely definitely not return here. Its not much to ask for a clean bed when you are paying for it.

it suited our requirements perfectly - we had three rooms to accommodate 5 adults 4 dogs and a baby - the pub is walking distance from a long round walk along the river Trent - ideal if you have dogs - we were travelling from Scotland to Kent and it was a perfect stopover close to A1 - clean , comfortable and very friendly staff
electric heaters difficult to regulate

The ease of checking in, staff were very helpful.
We had a massive room, with plenty of space.
Comfy beds, warm room.
The toilet flushing was very loud, water pressure in the shower was not great but manageable.

The staff were pleasant and friendly.
Our room was at the top of a grubby staircase and cooking smells from the kitchen situated near the bottom of the staircase permeated upstairs into our room which was very unpleasant. There were damp patches on the side wall of our room which were larger after rainfall during the night. The room looked tired and desperately in need of some TLC
