About this villa rental
Calafralina is a wonderful stone villa set in the heart of Chianti. Comprising a main house and a cluster of cottages, it offers sophisticated lodgings best suited to five couples who wish to explore wine country, or mixed groups with older children. Its position, halfway between the pretty towns of Castellina and Radda, means you will have the chance to sample a taste of the local lifestyle.
The main villa houses a large, comfortable open-plan living and dining area with full-height modern windows and doors to the garden on three sides. The comfy bedrooms are housed in three cottages, each with direct access from the garden, ensuring independence and privacy. Outside, the pretty walled patio shaded by olive trees is just perfect for an al-fresco dinner. The expansive gardens, including an orchard and an olive grove, feature mature trees offering shade, while the ping-pong table and bocce court will keep everyone amused. And the large private pool, set in its own lawned area, must be one of the best places to pull up a lounger and contemplate the gorgeous views.
The two terracotta ceiling tiled bedrooms have tradition air conditioning units while the other three have air cooling systems. All bedrooms have tea and coffee-making facilities and are independently accessed from the garden via glass doors. This villa is recommended for the warmer months because there is no direct access between the various buildings without crossing the garden. The owner has a private holiday villa on the property, but rarely uses it. The caretaker is at guests disposal every day, and takes care of the garden, vegetables and chicken coop. He is happy to provide vegetables and eggs to guests and offer assistance if needed. There is a friendly medium size male dog that lives in the owner's private area which will be kept away from guests if required.
