Surround yourself with the beauty of nature at this secluded log cabin, gorgeously situated to overlook a half-acre pond on the outskirts of Warren. At this quintessential Vermont retreat, you can watch passing wildlife, listen to the soothing sounds of the brook across the way, and enjoy the wonderful mountain and woodland views from the expansive deck and covered front porch. Inside, you'll have many comforts and conveniences of home including a cozy wood stove and a billiard room with a wet bar for your at-home entertainment.
During the spring and summer months, mountain bikers from around the world come to test their mettle on the extensive trail system in Mad River Valley, which also includes over 40 miles of single-track on Sugarbush Mountain. Fall is a time for vibrant colors and postcard-perfect hikes in Camels Hump State Forest, named for its camel-shaped peaks. The area's other seasonal outdoor activities include canoeing and kayaking the Mad River, rock climbing at Appalachian Gap, and zooming down the challenging ski slopes of Sugarbush Resort (six miles north) and Mad River Glen (15 miles north).
On the property itself, there are many activities to enjoy. Go for a refreshing swim in the pond on warm summer days, enjoying the natural setting around you. Winter is like being in a snow globe, and everyone can enjoy the fresh-powdered snow! There are maintained trails that can be accessed directly from the cabin, great for cross-country skiing (gentle slopes, mainly flat) and also great for snowmobiles (must have a pass from Vermont). If there are clear skies, build a fire at the pond, and enjoy the stars above! The caretaker keeps everything cleaned off and gives instructions on everything, including how to build fires. He is also well known for hauling kids and adults to the top of gap on a 4-wheeler, so they can sled down without a hike!

We had such a wonderful stay at this lovely cabin in the beautiful countryside of Vermont. It was perfect for three couples, six adults. We attended a nearby wedding. Highly recommend this beautiful property, everything was super special and peaceful.

Very clean, and great location! The instructions on the fire were confusing, but it was very easy to get in contact with the property manager to ask any questions!

Very cozy and quite location. The location is central to many great VT sights. The kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of space for relaxing.

Great location and view. Home is spacious, clean and comfortable. It has all the amenities … an older house with a rustic feel! Worked well for excursions to Waitsfield and the Stowe area.

Excellent service . Our stay was magical with 30 inches of snow in 2 days! Loved everything about the house. Comfy beds, well stocked kitchen ( it’s a cabin so of course there are mice droppings found in kitchen drawers. Owners took every precaution to keep utensils protected.) again it’s a cabin.

We wanted a place away from it all and this was it. It is extremely private and remote. The cabin is beautiful and big enough for a family. The maintained trails by Jerry the caretaker are awsome. The sunset spot was beautiful.
The cabin can use some maintenance but not bad. It does take awhile to drive anyplace because of the location, dirt and paved roads.
My complaints are the house keeping, less than the professional cleaning they state. The dirt, dust and dead bugs were pretty bad. There is also a limited supply of towels, 1 in the kitchen. Also paper products are limited. Food and empty bottles were left from someone previously. The communication with Vacasa was bad, anything I asked the answers were incorrect. I would not go through them again. You really need to talk with the property owner.
I would recommend this property.

We spent a lovely week at the cabin (our second extended stay). The house is very comfortable with plenty of room for the 3 families in our group to spread out. The property is beautiful and we enjoyed exploring the trails and relaxing by the fire pit at night. The kids loved the pond and spent hours trying to catch frogs and salamanders. We hope to return again next year!

I visited with my husband and 3 teens. The house is so nice, loved the space inside that gave us all room to relax, and outside was even better! My kids had a blast with the kayaks on the pond and it is such a relaxing setting for the adults. I wish we had enough time to use the fire pit but we just didn’t get the chance. The house is remote, and it’s on a long winding road but if you want a nice place to stay in Vermont, this house is a great choice.

The property was gorgeous-the pond, trees, trails, deck, fire pit area, and sunset viewing area=SPECTACULAR! The house was spacious but we were here mid July and the lack of air conditioning had us blasting the fans day/night making the atmosphere noisy. Caretaker Jerry was super helpful offering suggestions about the property and the surrounding area. We were disappointed when we saw the full hampers of used bedding and towels. But we were able to deal with that. It was the mice-both dead in traps and live running through the kitchen that caused some consternation. The proximity to the hikes and swimming/jumping river were terrific. Inability to communicate with property owner or caretaker prior to the visit was frustrating because Vcassa/vrbo did not have specific info we needed about local attractions, property grounds, and specific insight about the house.

The property is stunning. Mountains, pond, sunsets. It’s so relaxing.

Satisfied
The ad said Warren, the house is in Lincoln. This wouldn't have been a big deal if the road from Warren was open or if it was mentioned in the ad that you have to drive from the Lincoln side.
The ad also said 5 beds, there were 3.
Other than that the house was great, if the ad was honest it would have been all 5 stars.

The property gave us a nice atmosphere of spending time in the Vermont mountains on our ski vacation. We would stay hear again.

Amazing cabin in the woods
My family absolutely loved this cabin!! I rented this home for 2 nights as a place to stay with my parents and husband before we headed to the Adirondacks for a family reunion. Its location as the last house before the roads closed added extra privacy. We had easy access to the gap by walking up the hill and into some beautiful mountain trails. On our second night, we invited some family friends to stop by for a dinner party and enjoyed the fire pit down by the pond. I grew up in a log cabin in Vermont, so this home was a perfect setting for a bit of nostalgia and getting together with old friends.

We had a wonderful time. Cabin was great, especially with pond. The caretaker Jerry is fantastic. He answered all our questions. The trail Jerry cut to see the sunset was great. We will definitely rent the cabin again,

The home has everything you will need for a wonderful stay. The beds are all comfortable with quality linens.

Quiet Mountain Getaway
We loved our stay at This is It! Plenty of room to spread out, cozy fireplaces, and a well-equipped kitchen. We loved how the property was where the road closed for winter. It was fun to watch the sledders and skiiers go by! Jerry hooked us up with sleds for the whole group. Would highly recommend this quiet cabin retreat.

A star in the mountain sky
This log cabin home has everything to make for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is well outfitted for experienced cooks, the living room is cozy and the billiards room is a social spot worthy of spending time enjoying. Around the home are snowmobile trails to be enjoyed in any season and hiking trail heads are within walking distance. At the end of the day fall asleep in a very comfortable bed in a very quiet location under the stars.

Beautiful Property
This was a wonderful vacation! The owner and/or caretaker took great care of the property and us. There were well maintained trails on the property, and the little pond was a beautiful sight. There was plenty of wood for the outdoor pit, and we spent a lot of time there enjoying the fire and the nature. We also fished in the pond. However, there 2 items that made me lower the rating a from a perfect 5 stars to 4: there were mouse droppings in the kitchen, we had to take special care every day not to leave any food out, and we had to take all the garbage out before we went to bed every night. There were good instructions, and plastic bins for provided. There were also a couple bee/wasps nests by the bedroom window and in some of the porch furniture and one of us got stung inside the bedroom. The bathroom drains were not functioning very well either.
Overall, if you love the outdoors and can appreciate an outdoorsy lifestyle surrounded by breathtaking sights, this is the place for you! We definitely want to come back.

Great place!
We had a great time here, the property is beautiful, lots of land to hike around. The pond was great, we would sit on the porch and watch the fish jump and hear the frogs. Once or twice a day someone would stop at the end of the driveway to take a picture of the place, it makes quite a statement when you see it from the road. The house is plenty big enough, comfortable and nicely furnished. We met Jerry the caretaker and he was full of information and a real nice guy. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and would love to come back!

Great place to stay home in.
The home and property come as advertised in the pictures and virtual tour. The pond is great, lots of frogs and other critters and the water seemed to be continually moving to keep things fresh and clear. We brought a small inflatable row boat and had a great time on the water. There are also nice, well marked walking trails that head into the woods, along a brook and then back onto the property, which were perfect for easy nature walks with dogs and kids.
The house is equipped with all you would need in the kitchen, there are 3 different coffee makers to choose from which gives you an idea of how accommodating it is. Wifi service at the house was great, especially considering the location. The drive from VT-100 up Lincoln Gap Road is 5 miles and gets pretty tight, steep and winding. Beautiful drive but a bit daunting for those not used to that type of terrain. Worth it for all the space to spread out in and the great views.
We ranged in age from 6 to 76 and all loved the cabin and had a great time.

Nice cabin | some issues need attention
While everything looked clean at first glance, there were signs that some things were not properly cleaned. To be fair, that might be a consequence of the house being vacant for a long period of time due to the pandemic.
The most concerning issue were mice. We saw mice every day around sunset. Importantly, mice were not confined to a particular location in the house, but they were present in several areas such as living room, dinning room, kitchen, and bedrooms. Every morning we noticed mice droppings in the kitchen and sometimes in bedrooms (which was definitely concerning). In one instance, the droppings appeared on a bed only a few minutes after its occupants had left it. We contacted Jerry (the person who gave us the keys) but he did not solve the problem; according to him, mice were a lost battle. While we understand that the property is located in a rural area, the number of mice we saw is definitely a sign of big mice problem.
Aside from not helping with the mice issue, Jerry was actually incredibly helpful. He gave us a lot of information regarding the surrounding areas, things to do, and gave us some toys for the pond. He even came all the way one day to help us charge the car battery!

We loved it!
Great house, location. We wanted a bit remote and got it! It is a long drive to ski areas, which we did not account for, our fault. We would certainly love to visit again.
