Very clean. Owner is very helpful and friendly.
Beds are comfy!

I needed somewhere at short notice because I'd booked the wrong date for a different place, so found this and was able to get a taxi there and check in straight away. Once I had booked I received check in information almost immediately and the process was very easy. It seemed well looked after and clean.
It was expensive for a room without a bathroom - other places I've stayed in Malaysia with a private bathroom have cost the same. The pillows were probably the least comfortable I've ever experienced - rock hard. The only lighting in the room is a very harsh strip light.

Clean and hygiene. Closest to amenities. Walking distance to night market (Gerbang Malam).
Water pressure for shower is quite slow. One sink is clogged

Clean and hygiene. Rest area and Air conditioning is nice. Locker is provided. Access door is safety. Staff was friendly. Closest to all amenities ( train and bus station, restaurant, mosque, night market etc).
No towel and body shampoo. Shower water pressure is quite slow. Only one bathroom has a hot shower.

The staff is very nice
Free water
Only shared showers toilets, all dirty and only one shower for over 15 beds
The mattress need to be seriously changed
No space in the room
The private room is just next the toilet so it’s very noisy and not pleasant to hear…
Hard to enter the hotel because it’s all automatic watch to have the codes of you don’t have always internet access

The hostel is very centrally located, close to restaurants, the old town, very convenient.
This is the loudest noisiest hostel I've ever been to. The noise from the street is ridiculous, it feels as if you are sleeping on the sidewalk. It's really impossible to rest. Also the cleanliness can be improved significantly. There are some long-term guests which are also loud and noisy. Just....a very very noisy place!

Location.
This is more like "home for short stay" than it is hostel.
5.0 / 10.0
The hygiene was good and the check-in process was easy.
The room was located on the street side and did not have a window but only shutters. The street was extremely busy with lots of motorbikes and it was very loud the whole night. Literally at 1 am the street was still full of traffic. We barely slept.

Great location for Ipoh. Check in was a little confusing but the owner helped via whatsapp very quickly.
Sheets could have smelt a little fresher.

the location is the only good thing.
I did not even stay one night because it felt unsafe, unclean and unorganised. I arrived around 3pm. the owner gave me the pin to enter but no information about my room. no staff available for check-in. the owner told me my room when I whatsapped her. but no clean bedding on the bed. I whatsapped the owner and she informed me a volunteer would provide bedding. I left the hostel for 4hrs to explore the city. came back around 9pm, still no clean bedding provided. dirty dishes piled up in the common area. smells of smoke. all men staying and did not feel safe at all as a female traveller. had to trust my gut and checked out the same night, and booked somewhere else.

Suitable for short stay as the place is clean and has a strategic location to restaurants and market. I met new people too. The staffs are nice and friendly. Recommended for those who plan to travel on budget in Ipoh
The car noises can be heard inside and that made me had difficulty to sleep. But overall it was okay.

No vibe, not so clean (full dustbins everywhere), employees are mostly not there

The hostel was clean and comfy but windows were shutters which meant you could hear all the noise from the busy road outside.

I spent a week in Homey Hostel and I had a very pleasant stay!
My 3 bed dorm was nice, with AC, a comfortable bed and a socket near the bed which is not very common in Malaysia.
The accommodation has 3 bathrooms, a common area with a sofa, chairs, cutlery, plates and mugs and filtered hot water so guests can prepare their coffee/tea and refill their bottles of water. The internet connection works fine all over the hostel and the hostel is very clean, not to mention that the location is both close to Chinatown (less then 5 minutes walking) and Old Town and there are restaurants and convenience stores nearby as well as a bus station!
The owner, Suki, is so friendly and flexible! Always willing to help the guests with information about how to get to the further points of interest, booking train/bus tickets and not stricked with the check in/out hours
It would have been nice to have a fridge to keep our drinks and fruit fresh and a microwave to heat food, at least! The place would benefit if it has a stove so the guests could cook some basic meals...
My room didn't have a wardrobe and was a bit tinny, especially when it was fully booked, which made a bit hard to organize our stuff during the stay and while packing.
The accommodation is closed to one of the main roads and sometimes it gets too noisy with cars and music from the outside, which makes it a bit harder to have a good night of sleep!
Some of the guests were a bit loud as well during the resting hours

The location is good and easy access to restaurants and food outlets. Homey Hostel should hang a bigger signboard to attract attention otherwise quite difficult to locate.
Provide a slightly large table and few more chairs.

Clean room, good AC. Good price for the accommodation so you get what you pay for. Staff responds quickly at WhatsApp.
Sometimes the common areas wasn't clean.

Brilliant location in the New town, surrounded by Chinese food outlets. Walking distance to the the old town, little India and local bus station. Owner very nice and friendly. Free water dispenser. I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend.
No 24 hour checkin reception and owner not there a lot of the time but available through what's app, if any issue. Just to let you know some of residences live in the hostel but this wasnt an issue regarding myself. No kitchen or microwave.
