Generally, our stay was good. We did feel that the supplies were not enough to accommodate our family size for the week which was only 4 adults and 2 small children. Asking the renter to provide paper towels, toilet paper should be provided in the rental cost. The only opportunity for improving the property would be to eliminate some of the clutter from closets and cabinets, which made storing our supplies a challenge. As we had kids along that wanted to play in the backyard, the clutter sticking out from under the deck posed a safety hazard. Otherwise, the location and access were perfect.

We arrived at the check-in time, and the driveway wasn't plowed yet; we were lucky as there was a man across the street with a snowplow and he came over and plowed. My husband shoveled snow to the front door. Then we brought our things inside and discovered that the beds weren't made and the house had not been cleaned. It was a shock to come into a rental and find it in that shape, so we started cleaning and called the property manager, leaving a really upset message. We got a call a while later, and they apologized and did send an awesome house cleaner over that evening and she did an awesome job. I did the laundry and as loads were done, she made the beds. I washed sheets and towels until 11 pm, and the next morning had 2 more loads to do, We like the house and were in contact with the owner who was very nice, and very apologetic that it wasn't cleaned, but we still think that a property manager should have checked before someone is checking in; if they had done so, our experience would have been perfect.

Driveway was plowed, but has a very steep grade. But, We were able to back trailers down after unloading. Front door was not shoveled. No snow shovel in cabin. Had to use shovels form our backpacks. Laundry was still in washer and dryer, and dishes in dishwasher. Not good for our first impression. Called contact right away. Told me she would get back, No response.
Cabin was nice. Some beds had very nice mattresses, others on the bunks were questionable.
Kitchen had adequate stuff for us.
Snowmobile trail was right down the road.

We enjoyed a wonderful time together, with plenty of space for our large family. Especially appreciated the detailed communication directly with the owner the few days before our booking, and throughout our stay. He was very thoughtful and generous. The location was perfect for our activities. The trail right out the back was convenient for four-wheeling, and the firepit was fun to sit around at night. Hoping to be able to come back again soon!

This is a beautiful house. We spent 5 nights here along with our entire family. The house is very well managed and maintained. The kitchen was well stocked. We had everything that we needed.
The house was clean and surrounded by beautiful trees.
The only scope of improvements would be a better internet service (it was extremely slow) and the tvs were not working properly.
We enjoyed inspire of these two issues. Family had a great time.

Beautiful home, well decorated, made you feel like you were home. Kitchen has all the essentials and was well stocked with spices and supplies. Second time we have stayed in this home.
Be aware that you rent this home thru a second management company, 'Rental Advisor', like an additional VRBO. You pay their fees on top of VRBO fees and you fill out their forms and agreements outside the VRBO portal, something VRBO warns us against. All my information and a signed rental agreement was in the VRBO portal but I had to redo it all with 'Rental Advisor' like I was a new customer.

This is a week defined home. We had plenty of living space for ourselves and the families of our two children. The kitchen is well stocked and there is a first class gas grill on the back porch. We were there during the heat of summer and there is no air conditioning, but we stayed very comfortable by opening windows at night and using the forced air and overhead fans. It is in an area of fairly dense housing, but was very quiet at night and road travel is light. Good location. Plenty of off-road parking for our three vehicles.

A wonderful trip
This home worked well for our large family. We enjoyed the large deck and the children enjoyed the wooden teepee in the woods. The only thing was that it was a longer ride to yellowstone than we anticipated so it added time to our day. Even so I would rent this home again. We had a wonderful vacation.

We booked this house for our trip to Yellowstone. We were out and about the majority of the time but having plenty of room for all of us was awesome. We enjoyed having the amenities we needed and truly enjoyed our stay! Thank you so much!

Needs attention!
The house needs a good cleaning, was dusty, basement was musty smelling, main floor bathtub drain was extremely slow, one empty cabinet in the kitchen would have been helpful for our food, too many dishes most of them not needed for anything, propane tank for the grill was empty and the contact person was unwilling to provide a refill, could have used a few more hand towels for the bathrooms. We did enjoy sitting on the deck and the fire pit. Broken and/or un-useable furniture in the bedrooms should be removed to make better use of the space. The fans were helpful to keep the house comfortable.

Mack's Inn
Great set up to accommodate all of our party of 11. Location was close to activities we were interested in. Gas grill advertised with property however no LP available upon arrival nor made available during stay.
We really enjoyed our time in ID and at Mack's Inn.

Great family vacation
We reserved river sports and the dinner show in advance, and we spent one day in yellowstone. We shopped in West Yellowstone which is outside the park and less expensive. We rode horses and went to a mini todeo in west yellowstone. Everybody had a great time.

Relaxing
Place was clean. Accommodated everyone in our party. Found a great dog daycare close by newly opened. Spartacus dog care. Huge benefit and a huge relief for me to have them stay there while we roamed Yellowstone and the area Tough bringing animals into park. Too hot for them to walk around. Too crowded Should be mentioned in your island park VRBO.

I probably won't rent VRBO again
It is sad when you have to clean as soon as you check in to feel somewhat comfortable, leave the property cleaner than you found it and STILL have to pay a cleaning fee. The whole property needs a deep cleaning. When we contacted the property manager, sent pictures of LOTS of human hair cleaned from the bathroom floors and asked about the full trash bins all I got was "I'm sorry, I will talk to the cleaning crew". There was also garbage around the fire pit, pieces of balloon hanging from the chandelier and elsewhere in the main living area, chocolate in the sofa cushions, bits of broken crayons and old wrappers under and behind the sidetables in the bedrooms. The playground "equipment" is old and unsafe. There are not enough towels/washcloths. If we had a full group there would barely have been 1 towel per person. The property interior also could use a good painting (including ceilings in the bedrooms). It looks very worn. This on top of the requirement to wash/dry/fold the towels; the expectation that excess trash be hauled to the dump; and the scrutiny prior to our stay made us feel very unwelcome. The property is advertised as closer to the west Yellowstone entrance. I was not expecting a half hour drive.

Overall okay
Very spacious cabin that allowed our multiple families to fit comfortably and enjoy our vacation. 6 adults and 5 kids for comfortably without using all the beds. Positives of the rental was the space as well as the access to kitchen supplies. Couple of critics though included cleanliness and no hot tub (even though it was listed as an amenity when we booked). When we arrived to the cabin, the cleanliness was so so. I will be honest and say I am a neat freak and it definitely did not live up to my standards when I am staying in a hotel, cabin, or air B&B. Second issue was no hot tub. When I booked the cabin last year, it had pictures of a hot tub and it was listed as an amenity. This was a requirement on my family’s list when we looking at cabins for vacation. When we arrived, there was no hot tub to be found. I messaged the local contact and was informed the owner’s got rid of it after a couple of months of use; however, I was not communicated that at all in the rental process. It probably would have changed us renting this cabin, depending on when we informed of this change. There was also no AC unit (unless we were too silly and missed it/couldn’t get it to work). It seemed to be okay in the evening when it cooled off, but if you ended up staying at the cabin during the day, prepare to be warm. Overall it was okay. We were not in the cabin long enough each day to really make a difference, but the hot tub situation really bummed us as we feel this change should have been properly communicated to us.

Comfy Cozy Christmas
Our family loved this cabin! It had the perfect combo of coziness, charm, and not so fancy you worry about messing it up. It held 8 adults very comfortably, with 2 long couches and a loveseat, plus a large dining table that opened up even longer. There were plenty of extra blankets to snuggle in for movie time. The kitchen and pantry items were well stocked, including lots of dishes, glasses, and serving pieces. The basement bedrooms were more appropriate for families with kids, since the mattresses were quite firm for our older bodies. We enjoyed being able to walk on the snow plowed road right out the door, and snowshoed/cross country skied for miles. There is a grocery store and gas station conveniently down the road too. Although we were very thankful we were allowed to bring our dogs, and had to pay extra fees for it, we were surprised by the amount of dog hair present when we arrived. We worked extra hard vacuuming and lint rolling before we left. Great place!

Owner was fantastic
We had a few issues when checking in and the notes were not clear on WiFi passwords, how to open the trash cans, the fireplace pilot lite was out... notified the owner and received a call. He sent a person out to address the issues and solved the problems. Very impressed with his quick action. Enjoyed our stay very much. Beautiful location and loved the hot tub and fire pit.

Everything was really good. Just a couple critiques. It could have been a bit cleaner, was pretty dusty. Listing did not mention pet policy at time of booking, but owner was great about working it out.

40th Anniversary Vacation
Mack's Inn Cabin is a really nice property overall. Each family, 3 in all, had their own space and we especially appreciated having a full bathroom on each level. The kitchen was fully supplied with almost everything a person could think of except a coffee grinder. Not a problem, we used the blender. Speaking of coffee, I think there is equipment to make any style of coffee a person could think of including espresso. The hot tub was a hit and was in use by someone whenever we were at the house so having more towels would have been nice but they have a large capacity washer and dryer so you can wash towels when needed.
Plenty of beds for everyone and they were comfy. The 7 and 9 year olds loved the kid's loft and even slept there the first two nights. We used the fire pit for making s'mores and just enjoying a fire in the evening. There were a few things that needed to be addressed, and were, while we were at the property - the propane tank for the grill was empty and the grill hadn't been cleaned. The handyman delivered the propane, made sure it was working properly and asked questions to ensure that everything was OK. At the time, I was unaware that two of the dining table chairs were damaged, one badly. I called Genevie, the property manager, and she suggested that we use a bench which originally came with the table from one of the bedrooms. We took a chair instead since it's nice to have the back support.
If you're interested in fishing, you don't have to go far to find a nice stream to fish for trout.
Per my son-in-law - there was very little to complain about. Outside of the grill issue and the kitchen chair situation, I really think they knocked it out of the park. I would stay there 10 out of 10 times if we were to stay in Idaho ever again and had 12 people. The house manager was quick to respond to our issues. I think that was classy.
I would give this rental a score of 4.5. No place is perfect but Mack's Inn came very close. (FYI don't let the sign over the sliding door or even your GPS throw you. This is NOT Pine Trees in Heaven.)
