This was our second stay at this cabin in Custer. Nicole is an excellent host, great communication and has thought of every little detail throughout the cabin! The cabin is spacious and provides everyone room to spread out after a long day of checking out the sights in the Black Hills.

This property was the perfect place to stay while we explored the Black Hills area! It had everything we needed, communication was easy, and the location was convenient. We enjoyed the large yard and the access to the trail. After full days of hiking and sight seeing, it was nice to come back and relax in the coziness of the cabin!

Our family came to do all the tourist things in South Dakota and this place was perfect. She stayed in contact with us. There was plenty of room and anything else you might need. So cute inside. If we go back that way ever we will check this spot out first. Two thumbs up!

My family and my sister’s family came to Custer for buffalo round up. We had great communication with the hostess. She was very thorough and accommodating. The home is better than it looks in the pictures.. the beds were very comfortable. Very spacious and everything you need at a VRBO’s house was very clean and organized . It was above our expectations and met our needs. We would definitely stay here again.

Very nice place. Enjoyed having all the comforts of home. The layout was very thoughtful and efficient. Close enough to the area attractions to be easy drive but far enough out to not be in the hustle and bustle of the town. Suited our families needs wonderfully. Loved this place!

We really enjoyed are stay. House is right off the highway, which was great, due to us riding motorcycles. Highway noise was not bad, didn't bother us on little bit. Nicole kept in touch with us, to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Will definitely stay again.

We loved our stay at this cabin. The cabin was well stocked, with a lot of extra touches. The location for us was great, most of the things we wanted to do were within a half hour of the cabin. We’d gladly stay here again!

We traveled from out of state and had a wonderful time. Cabin was very clean and spacious and situated in beautiful property. We had a great trip for moms and young boys out on their first trip to the Black Hills area. It should be noted cell service can be very limited, so you may have to travel to town to make calls or text. This has nothing to do with the cabin itself or its host.

We liked where it was located, close enough to Custer but not near a lot of people. Wifi was great since we had no cell service! We used the grill two of our nights there and loved having AC.

We arrived with info to checkin. It was easy. Expectations were simple from the host. The cabin was delightful! Even our 4 yr. Old said he loved this house. We had 9 people in our family and all were comfortable. The view was relaxing and lovely. Other reviews thought it was close to road but we had a 3, 4 and 5 yr old and no concern or problem with noise. It was conveniently located to all the sites we wanted to see. WiFi was great for all our devices. One of the best bookings I have had! Such a cute house!

We were very pleased with the Cabin. It was cozy, and felt safe. When booking we did not realize how close to the highway we were, and we did not have little ones, so it worked out well. Traffic dies down at night. Check in was a bit different with this one, normally we get our code 24 hours before, this property they provide it at the time of check in. Cell service is a bit sketchy, but Wi-Fi worked well. Games, books, and EXTRA amenities where provided.

The house was 5 miles south of Custer SD. Easy to find and get to-even in the dark. Saw deer from the back deck. Quiet. Country decorating. Large home. Great wifi, tv channels. Quick drive to Custer, and sightseeing spots....Custer State zpark, Hot Springs, Rapid City, Crazy Hotse, Rushmore. Shopping. Custer is an excellent walking town for souvenirs and places to eat. Other couple we were travelihg with are already in contact with family to come back with son's famy with grandkids.

2 grandparents, 2 parents, and 3 children had a phenomenal time in South Dakota using this as our base camp. Tons to see within in 1/2 hour of this location. Close to Custer for convenience, but far enough out to not feel cramped. Home was very clean and well kept up. Decoration was beautiful, and we really felt at home while staying there. Enjoyed watching the deer while having drinks on the deck and spent quite a few evenings star gazing.
Property manager was wonderful, very easy to work with.
Would highly recommend.

Comfortable and convenient
We enjoyed renting this property- the location was convenient and the cabin was very comfortable. The layout was simple and safe for our little ones, and we especially appreciated the included amenities. Check-out was easier than most rentals I have been in, which is a benefit when you’re trying to keep kids happy while packing up to leave!

Beautiful!
The house was beautiful and fit our needs. It’s a perfect location, close to all the sights. If I had to say one negative thing about it, it sits a little closer to the road than we thought. But that’s not really a problem. We enjoyed our stay!

Rustic Mickelson Cabin
My family and I cannot say enough good things about the Mickelson Cabin! We visited Mt Rushmore, Wind and Jewel Cave, Custer SP and Black Hills NF... the location was perfect. Our vacation included a large amount of hiking, so it was really advantageous to have access to a washer/dryer in case of necessary clean up. Appliance-wise, everything was in working order. The cabin was extremely clean and comfortable. The owner answered all my questions or requests in a very timely manner and made coordinating with our extended family easy. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in Custer- it really was perfect!

The accessible Cabin in Custer South Dakota.
The property was good just a little too close to the highway for our liking. The yard was nice for my kids to play in and keep them busy. Ther cabin was listed as accessible, and it was to get into, but it is Not wheelchair accessible. The bathroom on the main level was big enough to get into but that was it. I could not turn around in my wheelchair or get near the toilet. I am a Paraplegic and use a 22" wide wheelchair, so I do not need a lot of space, but this bathroom was just too small. There were no grab bars or any assistive devices to help transfer around the toilet. The toilet was very short and low to the ground to the point that I could not use it. The area around the shower was too small for me to even get near the tub, so I could not use it or transfer into it at all. My family and friends carried me up the stairs to the second bathroom. This one was more user friendly for me the way it was laid out and this bathroom worked enough for me for the week we were there, but again no grab bars or anything to assist with transfers. The issues were I had to be carried up and down the stairs every day, not fun for anyone. Good thing I am light. This room had a deck attached to it and if the deck had a ramp, it could be wheelchair friendly, but NOT the way it currently is. With some work done this could be a decent place to stay for someone in a wheelchair but it is not ACCESSIBLE as it sits. Would have been a nice stay had the cabin been more user friendly for someone in a wheelchair. We ended up leaving a day early due to the hassle of the stairs. If I use a Vrbo again will ask for more pictures and the layout of the bathrooms.
