About this cottage rental
A hidden treasure tucked away on the private Le Strange estate. Peaceful and oh-so romantic, this charming detached Victorian cottage offers wonderful parkland views with an abundance of wildlife on the doorstep, and is only a five minute drive to the coast. Best of both worlds springs to mind!
Surrounded by a moat, and with extensive grounds, Coachman's Cottage has been totally refurbished and is sensitively styled to ensure its period essence is retained. Cosy, comfortable and well-equipped, with an L-shaped dual aspect open-plan living area on the ground floor which has a choice of electric and wood burning stoves to supplement the heating when the nights draw in. Upstairs there are two inviting bedrooms (a double and twin), both with decorative fireplaces and sunny views, and a family bathroom.
Coachman's Cottage is a gem of a property and the perfect bolthole for a couple, small family or a solo traveller seeking a tranquil, picturesque holiday retreat. Ideal for walkers, birdwatchers, beach lovers and foodies. Once discovered, you are sure to return. Keen walkers will especially enjoy exploring the Le Strange estate parkland each Thursday when it is open to the public - a tradition that started in medieval times to allow local people to gather firewood.

Please request on booking if you require a travel cot (please bring your own bedding), high chair or stair gate.

Coachmans Cottage was very peaceful, clean and well equipped. One of the best holiday homes we have stayed in. The countryside around the cottage was amazing and access to local amenities was very helpful as a family who were new to Norfolk.

Early Spring break
We know the area well, and have usually stayed somewhere else. However that was unavailable for the dates we wanted and we were very lucky to find Coachman's Cottage on-line. A super location, in lovely grounds full of wild life;10 minutes walk to the shops and hotel,15 to the (almost empty) beach . The Cottage is very comfortable and very well appointed. has everything one could possibly need.
It totally exceeded our expectations and we look forward to coming back.

Nicely positioned cottage
Comfortable stay and very clean. Kitchen was well equipped with all utensils and crockery.
Would have been better if:
Wood burner in sitting room instead of dining room.
Hand rail on the wall of the staircase.
Alternative duvet to choose from as the 13.5 tog was too heavy and too warm for us.

A special place in a special location
Being tucked away at Old Hunstanton Hall whilst being so near the coast was magical. The cottage is so stylish and was very much to our taste. Every convenience was provided with a high level of attention to detail. Mark and Helen were helpful as well as very gracious and welcoming hosts. The surroundings to the cottage are delightful.

Spacious, well equipped cottage perfect for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings
We had a very enjoyable stay in this spacious cottage, which had everything we needed for a self-catering break as a family of three. Although the weather was wet and windy, we felt cosy indoors, with comfortable sofas, central heating and a fire if we had wanted to use it. The bathroom was spacious and the kitchen well-equipped, with dishwasher tablets provided and tea towels to make those dull cleaning jobs easier.
The location is ideal - on the private Le Strange estate, we had the benefit of peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings, while being very close to the beach and Hunstanton for shops and cafes, and within easy reach of some gorgeous Norfolk villages and pubs with good food. The nearby duck pond was a nice bonus!
The only small issues were the bed in the main bedroom which sadly we found uncomfortable for our tastes (we prefer a firm mattress), and it would have been good to have a recycling option - we could only find a bin for rubbish. But minor points in an otherwise delightful rural escape. Highly recommended for couples and families of 3-4 looking to get away from it all.

A winter break.
Our one week stay at Coachman’s Cottage in Old Hunstanton was a delight!
It enabled us to birdwatch the North Norfolk coast area from this comfortable base.

A beautiful place to escape
This is a very beautiful cottage with everything we needed to unwind. The location is extremely quiet while it’s easy to go out to pubs or shops.
We greatly enjoyed the views from the kitchen and dining area looking out to the moat. There is an abundance of wildlife next to the cottage and ducks, pheasants and moorhens are always around.
The wood burning fire is in the dining area and we enjoyed cooking Sunday roast with the lit fire. Kitchen is very well equipped including Le Creuset pans!
Everything is very tastefully decorated with a very cosy rustic feel. The smart TV can be hidden in its cabinet meaning you can spend time without seeing a screen in the room.
We had poor weather during our stay but still enjoyed when we stayed inside. It’s very easy to head to the North Norfolk Coastal Path and Nacional Cycle Network route 1. We strongly recommend walking around the estate on Thursday when it’s open to the public. It is extremely quiet and with a very varied landscape.
We would surely visit again.

Fabulously relaxing stay
We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at the Coachman’s cottage. The location was stunning, with so much wildlife in the surrounding area including hares, deer and sheep. The cottage included everything we needed to make our stay super easy, especially the cot and highchair for our 6 month old daughter. Great base for exploring the whole coast. Highly recommended.

Super relaxing Xmas break
Me, my wife and our 2yo stayed at coachmans cottage over Xmas and new year. It is set in such beautiful surroundings ! We have never seen so much wild life. Deer, pheasants, owls rabbits. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable. Lovely and warm and very well equipped. It is immaculate Inside and furnished to a very good taste. The Owners are very easy to get hold of if any problems arise. There are 4 pubs/restaurants that are walkable from the cottage.
Thanks again. We will definitely be back :)
