About this house rental
***5 day minimum stay required during June, July and August (peak season).
This Leech Lake home in Trader's Bay is located on what is considered to be the best stretch of beach on the entire lake. The beach is sandy and the water is clear and weed free.
On a dead end road, this property is extremely private for families. It is a completely remodeled home with 3 bedrooms in the main house along with a separate bedroom and bathroom space in the renovated garage living space with 2 twin beds. The detached living quarter space has its own bathroom, small private patio and sliding door to the lake (this rustic detached space is ONLY available mid May-mid October as it's otherwise winterized.)
The property includes a dock and a lift for renters. Docks are put in after ice out and taken out mid/late October. Times vary per year according to weather. It's approximately 15 minutes from downtown Walker.
The property is professionally decorated and includes extra fun touches such as family board games, outdoor bean bag toss game (cornhole), gas fireplace in main living area, smart TVs in main home, wi-fi, rustic playhouse for kids and a screened in gazebo with gas firepit. Smoke free, pet free home clean and inviting home.
Additionally, an outdoor shower makes for convenient lake life! For the ultimate lake life experience, we have another firepit (wood supplied to guests) at the lake's edge with Adirondack chairs for comfort.
A king size bedroom suite on the second level walks out onto a 2nd level deck with outdoor seating and additional gas firepit.
We can't put into words how amazing the lake and beach are at our property. The soft sand and very shallow entry into the water make this the PERFECT spot for family's with kids. Our kids can touch the sandy bottom well beyond the dock!!
This property is on 9 acres. Although we have a lot of room to roam, we ask that all renters respect our 8 person limit throughout their stay. We do not allow campers or tents to exceed this limit either. Violating this rule will result in losing damage deposits.
The following is provided to renters: most necessary kitchen utensils/dinnerware/cookware, toaster, coffee maker, crockpot, bed linens, bath linens, firewood, gas grill, paddleboard, paddle boat, cornhole bean bag game and ping pong table.
Boat lift: Uncovered, fits 19-20ft boat length up to 5,000 pounds. Docks and lift are removed sometime every October and every attempt is made to put them back in time for fishing opener. Timing depends on when the ice is off the lake and we are unable to offer a guaranteed date they are in or out because of these factors.
***Mid October - May the garage living quarters (bedroom/bath) are inoperable as they are winterized. Dock is also taken out during that timeframe.
***We do have an OUTDOOR security camera on our property that is motion activated. Camera is located on garage roofline and faces main home front deck.
***We pride ourselves on PERFECT accommodations for renters; however, Leech Lake typically has a Mayfly hatch for approximately 10 days mid to late June. This does somewhat effect the water quality and our normally pristine water and outdoor areas. Anyone renting during this timeframe acknowledges this disclaimer.
*** Our home is pet free. Violation of pets on property will result in a $250 additional cleaning fee.
***This property is in the thick of Minnesota lake country. Insects, animals, trees and all nature related elements will surround you on our property. We believe it's part of the charm of our private oasis. We can arrange additional outdoor cleaning/maintenance for sidewalks, beach and outdoor living areas during your stay for an additional fee if you put in this request.

Everything about this VRBO is wonderful. The hosts go above and beyond to extend a helping hand with anything that may be needed. They are gracious, efficient and professional. We feel blessed to have had the opportunity to stay...and look forward to the return next year! The cabin is beautiful. The land around it and the view of the lake could not be better. WOW! Thank you Emily!

The property is spacious and very private. Rain or shine you are able to have fun here. Shine! Dining on lower deck, morning coffee or cheese crackers and wine on upper deck, beautiful campfire lake side, games on the lawn galore, Rain! Games in the garage, fire in the screened in gazebo, movies etc indoors in every room, boat lift at dock. Great pontoon rentals near by with Sea Legs making the boat easy to moor.
The rooms were comfortable and very well appointed. The kitchen is modern and easy to have multipul cooks work on meals. Beds very comfy. Very private property. Not bothered by anyone, only the friendly folks who wave as they casually cruise past. This property is awesome. We are already booked for next year. Mike and Emily are very friendly and helpful. Thank you

Super clean, very quiet retreat for family. Great access to the lake. Awesome beach for the kids! Plenty of room for 8 people!

We enjoyed a peaceful family getaway for Father’s Day. The house was decorated nicely and equipped with anything you would need for a relaxing stay away from home. We used the boat lift which was very nice to have with the windy weather! Loved the fire pit on the beach, even though we didn’t have the best weather we still enjoyed relaxing by the crackling fire and listening to the waves. Very nice sandy beach, we enjoyed the hammock and swing! Water toys were fun to use also!
At night we enjoyed eating supper out on the deck and then sitting in the gazebo with the fire pit.
Location is great for privacy and close enough to go for supper or play at the casino.
Hosts were very accommodating and easy to reach if need.
I would highly recommend staying here and plan to again!

It was an awesome time! Thank you! Just a FYI, there are squirrels trying to get into your attic though the soffit.

We had an amazing time staying at this property! The amenities were great and the property felt very family friendly. It was also nice how private the location is, but not too far from town.

Mike and Emily are so awesome and we just love their house so much. This was our second time here during the fall and this time we brought family with us. Fall colors were really popping this time of the year. Property is so peaceful and private. Two master bedrooms makes this perfect for couples. Lake view is a 10+. Thank you for our beautiful, quiet lake house vacation!

This is a lovely home and property. The house is updated and beautifully decorated. The property is very large. Great view of lake and many places to sit outside. We spent the majority of our time on the lower deck, and around the fire pit by the lake.
Our adult children enjoyed the garage, where there is a ping pong table and foosball. They had corn hole available (which we thoroughly enjoyed).
The rooms are lovely, beds very comfortable.
Great communication with the hosts.
Wished we could have stayed longer!

This was our 2nd stay here and we enjoyed it once again! Communication with owners through text was always met with quick response so if you ever have any questions or issues they are taken care of.
Spectacular beach area for kids (and adults) of any age. Plenty of kitchenware and utensils for large groups, very quiet and private.
Will be staying again!

The house was very nice, however, the bedding and sheets all were terrible and smell like cat urine.
Previous renters had not taken care of the place because it was not in good order when we arrived. The paddle boards and beach equipment were all old and damaged. The Internet barely worked, and the TVs would not connect to the Internet.
The house looked nice, but the basic functionality like bedding and comfort of the bed , along with the sheets and pillows, smelling like cat urine , all left a lot to be desired . …. I would’ve expected more for 600 a night. I’m not convinced anything is washed in between guests.

If you’re looking for a spacious updated lake cabin tucked into the trees on the bay this is your place. My family and I stayed here for our yearly week vacation at a lake cabin. We chose this cabin based on the location and size. The beach was great and private. It was nice to not have lots of boat traffic out front. The cabin itself was spacious and perfect for all 6 adults and an infant. 2 adults stayed in the guest cabin which has its own bathroom. The guest cabin also has a foosball table and ping pong table which was a fun addition. The kitchen was well stocked with the basic necessities that you would need for cooking. The fireplace was a plus especially with the chillier nights we had towards the end of our stay. There is an acorn tree above the cabin and the acorns fall quite often making it sound like it is hailing. We didn’t mind the acorns but heads up if you’re sitting outside enjoying the decks as they might fall on you! The only negative we had about our stay was the towels and bedding smelled musty. As if they were left in the washer too long before the cleaning crew came and put in the dryer. The owner, Emily, was great at responding to our remote fiasco and even had a replacement sent up during our stay which was so not necessary but appreciated! The cabins neighbor came over and let us know about the nuisance black bear in the area which was greatly appreciated as well. Overall, we had a great time staying here and would recommend. Emily, you have a lovely lake cabin. Thank you for sharing it with our family.

Had a great time. The beach is very nice and the water is very clear with a sandy bottom, also shallow which was great for the little kids. Loved being close to the canal to take you to Agency Bay, on the days it was a bit windy and the water was a little rougher we would go there and it was very calm. Look forward to going back next year!

Great property with beachfront with a lot of of fun stuff to do. House is super clean and stocked and nicely decorated. Rooms are big with basically two master suites. Only downside was that the outside walkways and patio areas were not cleaned regularly. The “game room” in the garage was a huge hit with the young kids!

Beautiful and relaxing
My family and I loved the time we spent at this rental home! The house was absolutely beautiful and clean with very comfortable beds for everyone. We enjoyed the wonderful amenities such as the game room, fire pit, hydro bikes, and paddle boards. Favorite spot to hang out was at the end of the dock where we could watch are children swim and play. The boat lift was very convenient with nearby boat ramp just a couple miles away. Perfect location from Walker, MN, Emily gave us great recommendations of places to visit in town. Outdoor seating area was a little dirty with tree debris/ dirt, but we where pry one of the first this year to stay and actually be able to enjoy sitting outside in the warmer weather, so totally understandable. We would absolutely book this place again!!!

Incredible views and relaxing stay!
Beautiful cabin with plenty of space on Leech Lake. We have already booked our stay again for next year (for even longer.) We were particularly impressed with:
-Responsiveness of owner (Emily) and her family to ensure our stay was comfortable and that any questions we had were answered timely
-Unexpected amenities - bonus cabin, gazebo, playhouse with lego table/puzzles and pristine beach with water levels out to the dock at just the right height for kids (5 and 8)
-The cabin is beautiful, well decorated, and feels like you're staying in a comfortable lake home on Leech.
We were so impressed and are looking forward to coming back!

Amazing!
This place is just beautiful. The pictures don’t do it justice. It has absolutely everything you would ever want in a lake home. Beds & bedding are super comfy! Lake access literally out your front door. Awesome kitchen and stunning beauty to wake up to every day. The upstairs bedroom with windows all throughout wake you up to the most incredible lake and woods views. Mike and Emily were very attentive and checked in often to be sure we had all we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Very quick to reply to questions and even bought a fish cleaning table prior to our arrival. Cant wait to come back next year!

The house was as described and pictured. The kitchen is well stocked, beds were comfortable with nice linens and an ample supply of bath towels was provided. The house is nicely decorated and quite spacious—especially the two main bathrooms. The mechanicals in the house are first rate: well water is filtered and softened, a tankless heater serves up hot water quickly on demand and the A/C is well distributed. The property is very private and the outdoor spaces are well furnished—BUT be prepared to sweep these areas prior to use as spiders are ever present and their overnight efforts are visible every morning.
We agree the house is located on “the best stretch of beach on the entire lake”; as people who grew up on the lake we aren’t aware of a nicer length of sandy shoreline. Although Leech doesn’t have any “sand bars”, the area in front of this house is about as close as you might get which makes for a very child friendly play area.
However the location does come with two potential downsides: first, the shoreline can be a very popular party spot for local residents on weekends and holidays. So if there is nice weather with winds out of the SW (or less than 5mph in any direction), don’t be surprised to find a large contingent of boaters mooring to the East. That was our experience Saturday and Sunday from around 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and included loud music, loud conversation and a half dozen Waverunners cruising in, out and about at all times.
Second, the location may be challenging for larger, deep hulled boats to navigate around the dock. We measured the depth at the end of the dock to be roughly 20” and as a result we were unable to drive our 20’ bowrider I/O to and from the dock at any point during our stay. Instead we had to stop 200’+ short, fully raise the outdrive, jump out and walk our boat up to the lift. And then do the reverse whenever heading out. We were also unable to use the boat lift; the depth from surface to the keel supports was 10” in the front (bow) and 14” in back (stern). Thus we chose to dock our boat overnight at nearby Brindley’s Harbor to avoid the risk of a wind change while we were sleeping.
Please note the lake level we experienced was abnormally low—by about a foot—due to the 2021 drought and Leech being a reservoir that feeds the Mississippi. It is also 100% beyond the control of the property owners. Nonetheless we are giving a heads up to future customers with larger boats so they can plan accordingly.
