The living space boasts sweeping views of the Humboldt Bay with a cozy sitting area, gas stove, and cable TV. For your morning coffee or full-course dinners, the well-equipped kitchen is well-equipped and very accommodating. The bedroom is pristine and comfortable offering a good night's rest, and the futon now has a foam mattress topper for increased comfort.

Be aware that there is a long term tenant that lives on-site. Please be respectful.
Parking notes: There is free parking available for 1 vehicle.
Security camera details: There are two cameras located externally. One faces the bottom of the driveway and points out to the street, the second points across the driveway. The front door of the home isn’t in with frame, just the driveway and street partially.
Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

I absolutely loved this space so much it was bittersweet to leave. The home is cozy and quiet with plenty of great views of the garden and the bay area. The garden itself was a sweet sanctuary for sunsets and meditation. The bed was cozy and the bedroom kept quiet for a solid sleep. The kitchen was fully stocked ready for any culinary adventure. I spent my time hiking during the day and writing at night. Just what I had needed. Great location with lots of redwood forests within two hour drive. Best part was having the Arcata Community Forest within a five minute walking distance. I highly recommend this place and hope to return again.

This is our second stay at Baxter's Bayview Cottage. We love the locaton so much! Set high above the city, there's a wonderful view of Arcata and beyond. And, the best part -- it's only a few yards from the incredibly beautiful Arcata Community Forest! The owner is so accommodating and nice. We will be back!

Nicely appointed small apartment right next to a lovely park. Easy access to all of Arcata. Larger cars might want to park on the street, the driveway is very steeply angled

This property is so clean! It also has a lovely view from the tall table. While it is 1/4 block from the Community Forest, there is no public entrance up the hill there—you walk down the block and up the hill to the right to the park. But it is a lovely resource to have pretty close. You can also drive up there, park in the lot and save your steps for the glorious woods.

We loved spending a week here while attending a music workshop on campus. We walked back and forth (17 minutes) and also into town for groceries and restaurant dining. The hosts invite you to enjoy the view from the lovely patio complete with Koi pond and abundant flowers. The inside is charming, clean, and new. We only caught a glimpse of Baxter the cat. Last but not least, the cottage is located at the entrance of Redwood Park which has forest trails to enjoy.

I come up to this area 4 times a year for a week for business. I used to stay at the hotels in the area. No more! This place was perfect! Nice location. Beautiful views. Quiet and very clean! I highly recommend this property!

I sat at the table by the window and watched the sunrise/sunset over Arcata and the ocean. I watched the fog come and go. The cottage is in a breathtaking location. Only a block to trails through the redwoods. The cottage itself is clean and stocked with everything you could think of needing. I could have just moved in and stayed . . .

The cottage was clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable, clean linens and towels provided. The cottage is located on a hillside with an ocean view and outdoor patio space. The location is quiet, however the refrigerator is noisy and comes on almost hourly, even throughout the night. We would have accepted the offer to stay an additional night for 1/2 the nightly rate however when I checked on this with Vacasa customer service, I was told I would have to pay an add'l $30 cleaning fee. I had already paid $60 cleaning fee for 2 nights. That seemed unreasonable so we opted out.

The apartment is in a beautiful location overlooking the city and the bay. It was very clean and fully equipped and functional. In a very quiet neighborhood near the community redwood forest with easy access to town, we couldn’t have asked for more.

The check in and check out process was seamless. The first night we enjoyed watching and photographing a doe and her fawn comfortably snacking on grass and shrubs through the large living room window and standing in the driveway. Great facility and especially loved the convenient stacked washer /dryer. Easy to find and close for a stroll in Redwood Park. Centrally located for traveling to Trinidad, Arcata and Eureka. Loved our stay.

Great location, nice view, close to campus. Well set up and comfortable bed. We never were provided with lock box code for key. Had to borrow neighbor's spare to get in. Otherwise all good. Instructions say please run dishwasher when leaving. No dishwasher.

Wonderful cottage stay that is planted right in the middle of all the places you'll want to visit. Well stocked with everything you need (even several ice packs for packing lunches, which we thought was great!) Very clean. Great view and outdoor space.
This place has a bed and futon, which is great for a trip for a pair that doesn't necessarily want to sleep in the same bed. Like our trip, it was my daughter and I. There are extra sheets and blankets in the closet if you need them. We had brought our own because I wasn't sure (now know for next time). Any store you might need is within a five minute drive. I've never had a rental provide laundry, what a huge plus!! (Soap pods were provided- thank you!!)
Great beaches off Samoa Drive, Saturday Arcata farmers market is fantastic, Redwood Skyway in Eureka is amazing (part of zoo), Elk Meadow a must when you head to National Park. So many things to see, a drawer in the cottage even has more suggestions. You will not run out of ideas. Thank you Baxter's, we will be back!

Beautiful Bayview cottage
My husband and I loved staying at this beautifully appointed cottage. It’s a complete package! The decor was lovely, it was so comfortable and peaceful. The view of the bay was beautiful. I loved all the amazing flowering bushes and flowers. We hope to return! We loved it!

Lovely spot with a fabulous view! Unit was very clean and well stocked. The only suggestion I have is to provide a mattress topper for the futon in the living room. Especially if you are traveling with kids or a potential college student.

Walking distance to downtown, easy check in/out, great views, many convenient items available (spices, ice, water purifier, smart tv, towels, soaps, glasses/utensils). Would definitely stay here again.

Best Little Cottage
Will definitely be back. Such a quant little place at the top of the hill adjacent to the redwood forest and everything you could possibly need. Even had 3 deer on the front lawn , patio.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay. Our home away from home had everything we needed, including coffee, all kitchen wares and a comfortable bed. The garden was very beautiful and tranquil. We are already looking forward to our nex stay.

Baxter’s Bayview Cottage
Great place. I was a little concerned about the rental being through a company but it went flawlessly. Easy access to downtown and the college. Restaurants within walking distance. Oh, don’t miss out on a hike through the redwoods. The park entrance is 25 yards from the cottage.
