About this cottage rental
Rustic summer cottage on Penobscot Bay on the Maine coast with 245 ft of
waterfront in the front and more water in the back. The private beach is sandy and has wonderful rocks for children to climb. The views are magnificent with lobster boats, islands, yachts and kayakers dotting the water. The water is cold but the hardy in my family love it!
There is an eat-in kitchen, and a main room with a larger dining table and a fireplace. There is a queen bedroom, a double bedroom and a bedroom with 2 twins. There is a bath with a stall shower and another with a tub/shower. There is a laundry room. A small deck is off the master bedroom and a larger deck in the front of the cottage to sit and watch the view.
There are wonderful restaurants and lobster shacks a short distance away. Take a ferry from near by Port Clyde to Monhegan Island for a day of hiking. Or hike one of the trails on Mt Battie in the Camden Hills. The acclaimed Primo farm to table restaurant is 6 miles away. Visit the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland. There is no shortage of activities for all ages!

Very close to the ocean, private but close to town. Only addition would be a guest book. Roku was foreign to me. Definitely want to come back. Breakfast on the porch is a big selling point.

Everything was exactly as described. Clean, warm, cozy, comfortable, very thoughtfully stocked and organized with just about anything you’d need. Add the iconic Coastal Maine views from the house as well as the private beach, the short ride into Rockland for a great meal at one of the many charming restaurants, and you have the perfect getaway.

The cottage is nicely located for peace and quiet with the beach sooo close! Everything we needed and more was available and it was very comfortable, very clean. We have traveled to Maine many times and this is a cottage worth coming back to. Many thanks!!

Despite a dreary week, we had a wonderful stay. The house was tidy and had everything we needed. I loved falling asleep to the waves. The owner was very communicative.

What a wonderful water view and private beach. The cabin is cozy and well stocked. If your looking for a big tv, than look elsewhere. But if you want a private, cozy Maine cabin on the water and in the woods, with the sounds of loons and the rumble of distant lobster boats, than look no further. Kitchen had what we needed, internet was fast, and is a great place to warm in the sun or read a book.

We had a lovely time in this quiet cottage with a beautiful view. The space was clean and right on the ocean with a sweet beach to explore with each 16' tide. The hostess was communicative and always helpful.

Wonderful Place
This is our second time here and it didn't disappoint! Such a beautiful place on the ocean! There are no words to describe the incredible sunsets! The private beach is a huge delight! Great communication with the owner. We are going back for two weeks next year!

Lovely getaway by the sea
Our stay was all that we’d hoped! We had a large party of 6 adults, 3 small dogs, and 1 toddler and yet there was always enough room for all to feel comfortable. The location was great, close to swimming, fishing, great food, and lots to do for the whole family. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to have a relaxing trip away from the hustle and bustle.

Perfect family getaway
The location was great for the places we wanted to visit…Boothbay Harbor to Belfast. The house was charming and the access to the water was great.

Perfect location for us
This a a rural waterfront location near a working fishing community. A commercial lobstering operation is in close view. The property is well stocked for preparing family meals, close enough for a tour to Monhegan Island. The location is great, and we had a great time.

Tranquility
It was just as described. We were raised in the area so all we wanted to do was relax rather than any sightseeing. It was absolutely perfect! The ocean has nurtured our souls for another year! We will be back next year! Thank you!

Nice cottage
It is a nice cozy Maine cottage on the ocean. You get to see the lobster boats come in and leave from the front deck. Very clean. Beautiful area off the beaten path but close enough to go anywhere. would love to visit again.

Perfect Maine experience
This property and this stay was exactly what we hoped for. Isolated and calm...the cabin itself was more than adequate and very clean. Everything functioned as described. The view was outstanding and the little beach area was all ours for 7 days. Charming, comforting and just pain wonderful - we will certainly consider returning!!

The cottage is lovely! We live in Maine, and we were looking for a safe, quiet waterfront spot to chill and celebrate my birthday. The cottage was very clean, with comfy bedding, a little fireplace, plenty of towels, and all the kitchen essentials. The floors were still wet when we arrived; I was hoping there would be some time between cleaning or prior occupants for the place to air out but I didn't inquire as to what COVID protocols were being met, so that's on me. Nonetheless, it was spotless and cleaned very thoroughly, with the exception of dog hairs on the rug in the master bedroom. (I found an old vacuum in the place and took care of it as best I could, but with our allergies it was kind of a bummer to have to vacuum upon arrival). I texted the owner about it, and she immediately replied via phone call, and assured me that her cleaner had addressed the room (but I still think the vacuuming in there was overlooked). Ultimately that was a minor detail. We really enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of waves lapping on the shore, and seeing the lobstermen work. There's also a simple outdoor shower (with hot water!) that was nice to use after snorkeling, swimming and paddleboarding. Some unexpected things: there was a man who walked his dog on the "private beach", who kind of creeped us out, as he was around every day for the first few days until I spoke with him and asked him to respect our privacy. The cottage is on a private road, and all beaches are technically public below the high tide mark, but he was sitting on the Adirondack chairs above the high tide line, which belong to the cottage. I also saw him staring at the cottage when he walked by, which was a little strange. The most concerning event was when this man came by well after dark with his dog (without a light) and startled us. To her credit, the owner was incredibly responsive and understanding about our concern regarding this, and did what she could to make us feel safe. We didn't see him again after that. On our last day, we were woken by a man on a riding lawnmower trimming the grass, but that was brief. Overall, I would recommend this place, and aside from the creeper - who hopefully got the message - and the lawnmowing noise intrusion, it is fairly private and serene. If you're looking for a quaint, simple Maine cottage, go for it!

Spruce Head adventure
Our stay on Spruce Head was beyond our highest expectations. Everything about this VRBO was exemplary. We wanted for nothing and perfect weather made all even better. We would love to return here next year if the world situation allows. Thank you for a great vacation in this wonderful location.

Paradise beach!
Peaceful, restful experience: just what I was looking for! My daughter and grandchildren were unable to come as planned but my friend and I enjoyed ourselves mostly reading on glorious beach. Everything we needed in the house was available with comfy beds and plenty of room and windows to the water. Definitely will return. Thank you, Susan, for sharing the Blue Buoy!

Fantastic Tranquility
My wife and I, as well as our two adult daughters felt right at home for 2 weeks. We swam and kayaked off the sandy beach, and spent hours talking on the deck. Everyday, we heard the call of ospreys. Neighbors said ospreys were common in the area. The house was impeccable: clean and well stocked with kitchen things. The living room was perfect for games and reading at night. We grilled and steamed. Fresh corn was nearby. Try the Weskeag oysters on Rt 73, as they are unbelievable. Beds and bedrooms were private and comfortable. The morning light streaming across the property is memorable. Susan, the owner, was always available for a consult, although we hardly need her, as everything worked perfectly. We will plan on returning next year.

Blue buoy
Blue Buoy is the quintessential Maine camp with amazing views and comfortable accommodations. The private beach was perfect for my 3 and 7 year olds. The days were filled with beachcombing and watching the lobster boats come and go. I would recommend Bluebuoy to anyone who wants a real Maine experience.

Serene Beach Cottage
We had an amazing time at Blue Buoy! Celebrating my parents 40th anniversary the cottage was perfect for 6 adults. It was extremely clean upon our arrival and had plenty of towels, kitchen supplies (including lobster supplies) and other necessities. The beds were super comfy, sheets soft and pillows fluffy. The porch was perfect, with a magnificent view of the water and the road only goes out to one or two other cottages so there was barely any traffic. Great for dogs or kids to wander and play in the yard. Finally- the beach. It’s nearly private (I think we saw two other people on the rocks our entire visit) with lots of rocks and seashells to pick threw as well as some soft sand for yoga or beach lounging. We enjoyed watching the tides and exploring little islands off the coast with kayaks and paddle boards. Be sure to wander down to Mcloons for some seafood snacks during your stay. Definitely a place we will want to return to!
