About this cottage rental
If you love to visit the beaches of North Devon yet prefer staying in the quiet tranquillity enjoying countryside living then Honeysuckle might just be the perfect place to stay!
Off the approach road into Woolacombe is a turnoff towards the coastal village of Lee and a short way down there is a turning into a lane leading to the small hamlet of farms, Allendar Farm is one of them. It takes about five minutes in the car from the main road to get to Allendar Farm where Honeysuckle sits so when a trip to the beach is planned, it will take no more than ten minutes in the car to get to Woolacombe, the nearest beach. Delightful walks through the farm lead down the valley to Lee and is a must for dog walks.
This delightful four bedroom barn conversion was done over 10 years ago by the previous owners and has established itself firmly as one of the five popular holiday cottages at Allendar Farm.
Inside the barn conversion is a twin bedroom and a downstairs toilet with shower and sink basin, the stairs to the upper floor where the other three bedrooms are and the lounge, diner kitchen that form the rest of the downstairs and this is a sizeable open plan area. Plenty of sofa seating for 8 people and dining also. The kitchen is of a good size with adequate food storage and is well equipped for a family holiday away. Stable doors from the living room lead out onto the lawned garden with views over surrounding countryside and is a lovely suntrap.
Upstairs there are the further three bedrooms and a family bathroom. The master double has a shower room ensuite. All rooms are furnished in a cottagey farmhouse traditional style with pine, wood and simple soft furnishings.
Two dogs accepted at £20 per dog per holiday. This is a Friday changeover.
There is no Wi-Fi here but that's what good old fashioned family holidays should be like, there is so much to do and see in the area we think you'll be out and about exploring and visiting local attractions and beaches. Just bring that novel you've been trying to read for ages and get back in tune with family life by playing games and actually "talking"!
Honeysuckle provides good size family accommodation near to beaches and countryside walks. A perfect retreat from city life and a charming place to unwind, go on, spoil yourselves!

Ideal for 2 families of 4. Spacious and quiet with lovely views. Dated but adequate. Table cloth on kitchen table dirty and difficult to wipe clean, the rest of the cottages was clean. Very enjoyable stay.

Had a lovely stay here with the family.
The furniture is a little dated, and the floorboards creak, but none of those things affected our stay.
There are plenty of seating options, which meant we could spread out and each have our own space.
The conservatory is lovely, and my son spent most of his time in there with the air-conditioning!

A proprty disappointment
On arrival there was a strong musty/damp smell downstairs and the sofa covers were also smelly. The furniture was a mishmash of old, probably seconhand store, table and chairs and the surfaces had a layer of dust. It gave the impression of not having been lived in for some time although the disgarded cigarette butts around the front doorstep and picnic table would suggest otherwise. Microwave and toaster need replacing and the downstairs shower also (dirty and unpleasant).
Upstairs was okay albeit basic. Bed linen and towels were clean and of a decent standard which was the good news. The mattress in the double at the top of the stairs needs replacing as it was lumpy and springs could be felt.
The comments made are similar to those going back over ten years so the owners have not moved to make improvements but still expect to command a strong rental rate.Departed the property early just to get back to a cleaner environment.

Better than it looks!
It’s a beautiful house with amazing views and well set out and resourced. Lovely walks and near beaches so a delight to stay in! Very comfortable!
