This property has so much potential that I almost feel badly about this poor review — almost. The cottage smelled terrible and it was dirty. We had to clean the fridge and cupboards before storing food. The coffee pot had not been cleaned and there was mold growing on the grounds. A used towel was hanging in the bathroom and only three ancient towels were available for our four day stay. There were old linens and “stuff” piled deep on the floor of two closets. Cigarette butts were floating in a giant ashtray on one of the decks with cigarette butts at the entrance, as well. The BBQ grill was filthy and a useless, worn out steel brush was tossed on the deck next to the BBQ. The furniture in the living room was old, smelly, and the couch was literally torn to shreds. The new deck featured in the property photos that overlooks the river is beautiful, but that’s not where we spent our time during a rainy, cool weekend and it would never make up for the condition of the cottage interior, anyway. We have visited many Vrbo properties in Port Franks, but this one was definitely disappointing.

House is big enough to have fun with patio facing the lake and found so many places to hangout nearby.

Thanksgiving Family Weekend 2021
We very much enjoyed our stay at your cottage in Port Franks over Thanksgiving weekend. Loved the location on the river and stairs down to the waters edge. Quite comfortable inside with a spacious open concept kitchen-living area. Queen beds were comfy too! Appreciated that our dogs were also welcome. Nice quiet spot with good privacy. The new deck overlooking the river you are building will be a great addition! Appreciated the extras like the dishwasher and washer/dryer. Thank you, would definitely rent again.

Great location but needs better upkeep
The location and house were great but could have been better with some minor updates with regards to cleanliness and lighting It didn’t help that the dock that we were counting on to get in and out of the river was no longer there when we arrived. There was a bbq there but it was in such bad shape we didn’t dare use it. Despite this we still had a great time. The view of the river and easy access to both walking and biking trails provided much enjoyment during our stay. This place definitely has the potential to be 5 stars

We would highly recommend this cottage! Beautiful inside and out very neat and clean, laundry.
What a great experience for our family, bonfires, canoe rides, short distance to beaches! The stairs heading down to a dock that is fun to sit on and have a drink, long but lot's to take in. We hope to return🙂👍

Great views and location
We were delighted to stay at this beautiful location. The property is spacious with plenty of area to go around. The water is deep and there’s kayaks available. Wish we went during summer to be able to fully enjoy its facilities but hopefully we can go back again.

Cottage in the Woods
My family chose this property for our Christmas getaway because our kids moved away for post secondary school but came home for the holidays so we needed a pretty big space. While organizing our trip, I asked a lot of questions that were all quickly answered which made planning and packing a whole lot easier.
During our 4 day stay, we cooked 3 meals/day and there was enough dinnerware, silverware and glasses for a place setting of 6 which was perfect for our family. The bigger frying pans were in rough shape but we had brought our own stovetop griddle to cook breakfast so we used that along with their pots and a smaller pan for dinner. The entire kitchen was well equipped to make all meals and there were plenty of helpful kitchen accessories, most importantly the coffee maker, toaster and microwave.
The house was warm enough at 20 degrees that we didn’t require extra bedding so the comforters sufficed but there weren’t any fans in the bedrooms to use for white noise which I needed for sleep since the cottage is very still and quiet. It was so peaceful all of the time and this was especially noticeable when you’re outside. I took my dogs for a walk down the street and it was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop. The forest setting is very serene so I enjoyed walking through the snowy backyard and down the stairs that overlooked the water and the many wildlife that swam and flew around there.
What I loved most about this cottage was the open concept. The kids played with our shelties in the living room while my partner and I cooked in the kitchen and we were still all in the same space to chit chat, dance around and have lots of laughs. We played board games in the evening that we found in the closet and there was also an extra tv in bedroom that had a VHS player and movies. The separate rec room was a bit chilly as it’s a seasonal room but it had an electric heater which made it more comfortable.
The cottage was very clean so we made sure to keep it that way and the driveway and steps were even shovelled by our host, which was greatly appreciated for unloading the car to bring stuff in. It only took a minute to figure out the remotes for the lights and fans in the main area and there’s even a working fireplace although it would make a strange noise at times but it was still very nice for heat and ambiance. The entire cottage was very cozy, warm and inviting and it’s only 20 min from Grand Bend so we would definitely stay again!

Good nature getaway with dog
Good location , very nice off of the water. The host was very communicative but there were some areas that could have been a bit better. Temperature control was a bit confusing & bring your own linens for greater comfort. Great for dogs and you don’t feel like it is a cottage that has had dogs in it. Cute cottage decor . Walking distance and within 5 minute driving distance to local trails . Quick drive to port franks restaurants if you want to eat out . The trees do block the views of the river a bit as mentioned in another review but it’s a very private feeling which is nice. Neighborhood is nice and quiet and natural feeling. Lots of games to play in the closet. Great parking availability . The climb down to the river is a pretty steep staircase but lots of viewing & sitting platforms along the way.

Port franks cottage
Nice location but wish it had a better view of the water(too many trees). Cottage could have been a bit cleaner on arrival. I cleaned picture windows and dust around kitchen window ledge which held water pitchers and knickknacks. Floor was mopped with strong bleach which I redid with other cleaning product because of safety concern for my little dog. Other than that we made the best of it.

Beautiful trees, quiet property.
Would rent this property again for a longer stay. Lots of outdoor space to sit quietly on your own or be with others. Very comfortable inside with great view of the river from the living room window. Very relaxing 3 night stay.
