About this house rental
For over a century, Tavistock Lodge has been the perfect home base for exploring the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks. Built in 1901, this ADK style Great Camp has been restored to its original grandeur and was recently re-launched as a group lodging option by new owners. You'll find privacy on Tavistock's 2.5 acres while still being under two miles from the center of Elizabethtown, NY and less than 30 miles from Lake Placid and Lake Champlain.
Tavistock sleeps 12 comfortably with six bedrooms and five and one half bathrooms. The camp is ideal for large group/family entertaining and features an impressive great room (70'x 20') with two fireplaces, plenty of seating, large dining tables, and quick access to an adjoining wrap-around porch. The Lodge also houses a spacious modern kitchen with new granite counter-tops, two refrigerators, and two dishwashers that make cooking and cleanup for your large party a breeze.

We were all quite taken aback upon arrival because of how cool, both inside and out, the lodge is. We were all very comfortable and looking forward to visiting again. hopefully next time we can try the sauna! Our host was very forthcoming and full of knowledge.

We had an exceptional stay at this cabin in the Adirondacks. The place was immaculate and equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable and relaxing getaway. The host was incredibly attentive and ensured we had everything we needed throughout our stay.
There were plenty of thoughtful extras that made our time there even more special. I highly recommend booking for more nights than you initially plan because once you're there, you won't want to leave. This cabin is a true gem!

As nice as the photos and description show...and then some. Owners went above and beyond to make visitors feel welcomed and comfortable. Full of character and history, large enough for family and friends to gather, with private spaces within to escape to. Generously appointed kitchen, two refrigerators, two dishwashers, comfortable large bedrooms, toys for children, games for all, pet friendly, grille and smoker, sauna, fire pit, woods to explore, secluded but accessible, market in nearby town....all made for a memorable stay for young and old.

Rented as a home base for my son's groom's people for the long wedding weekend. I certainly hope they left it in spectacular condition, as it is a stunning property and the hosts were lovely. We hope to return at some point and rent it for ourselves! The thoughtful touches never ended. The house was a beautiful mix of old Adirondack design and modern amenities.

I would recommend this property for family reunions and writer and artist retreats. The kitchen was well appointed and there were plenty of public gathering spaces, but there were also a large number of smaller public areas (libraries, screened porches, etc) in which smaller groups could get away and find peace. There were plenty of bedrooms and lots of bathrooms. Both the setting and the home itself were beautiful.
The owner and his property manager went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a fantastic one. Nice people and a nice house!

Roomy, comfy, peaceful, relaxing, accommodating and beautiful inside and out. No need to go anywhere. Travistock has it all. Huge kitchen, multiple dinning and sitting areas, selection of books, games, music (even karaoke!), fire pit and best of all - beautiful natural surroundings seen from all windows and a semi wraparound porch. A great place to create memories for a lifetime.

Our family enjoyed a rustic and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday at Tavistock. We were greeted by the Owner and Property Manager upon arrival and given the Grand Tour of the Lodge. Tons of special touches and extras that made our stay extra enjoyable and comfortable. Our two golden retrievers loved the stay as well and the freedom of being able to explore the expansive property. We would highly recommend Tavistock.

A group of friends wanted to get away to just be together to enjoy each other and laugh. The house was amazing. The host, once again, amazing. She met us and took us around the house. She left us little goodies to enjoy. Not one of us wanted to leave. The house included all that was needed. Rustic and modern all in one place.

The happiest of Thanksgivings
This extremely well stocked all wood cabin has everything you could possibly need. Multiple bathrooms and dining tables. Plenty of dishes and bake wear, two dishwashers Fully stocked kitchen, two refrigerator and a large kitchen island great for preping large dinners for a big family. Just off the beaten path but only 2 miles from a full super market, pharmacy and gas station. My parents, niece and their two dogs, my Husband's mother, aunt, sister and husband all joined us for Thanksgiving and this place had the room we needed. The property is nested in the woods with a great view. They have a great fire pit outside with seats for all of us. The owners are so very nice and helpful. We just say how much we all love this place.

Tavistock rocks!!
We had a wonderful memorable Memorial Day Weekend 2021 at Tavistock. We were three families (6 adults and 5 boys ranging 12-21) .
First and foremost- unparalleled LOCATION- Right among the best attractions of Adirondacks, and nestled in woods at deep end of a mile road provide an absolute solitude
Secondly and equally worth-mentioning is Mr Steven Giff's thoughtfulness and warm hospitality, He was there to greet us and give us a tour. He had arranged everything so tastefully and so thoughtfully that we were at home right from first instance.
And of course, all the things at home were in excellent condition and were sufficient. Record Player, Pellet Stove, Wood-crafted furniture, a rustic touch without compromising comfort and so much more.
Overall we had a wonderful experience at TAVISTOCK; and we look forward to returning there often.

Short getaway
My family and friends had a great 3 night stay at Tavistock Lodge. We had rented this house under a different name quite a few years ago and we're so happy to find it for rent again. The updates the new owners have made make this lodge perfect!! Steve was very accommodating with our early check in request and offered us a late check out! We can't wait to book a return visit.
