You’re only minutes away from all the action at Dollywood, hiking trails through the Smoky Mountains, even skiing and tubing at Ober Gatlinburg.
Our home is a timber-frame mountain cabin ideally situated between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. You may not want to leave the comfort of Five Bears but if you want to venture out you’re only 15 minutes from all your favorite attractions and restaurants. After a day out, come back home to relax, nestled atop a quiet hill featuring unobstructed views of Mt. LeConte and Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
As you enter Five Bears Den you’ll love our spacious and well-appointed game room on the ground floor. Here you can enjoy a quick snack and your beverage of choice while at the bar. Grab a cue and play pool, or if you prefer, lounge on the recliner sofas to watch the big game on the large-screen TV. Sliding-glass doors lead to a large covered deck where you can sip coffee in your rocking chair before you start your day. You’ll be eager to dip into the hot tub on this deck to soak those aching muscles after a great day of sightseeing or hiking. This floor has a gorgeous cedar-log queen bedroom set where you can glimpse a view of the mountains. Right across the hall is a full bathroom with tub. The laundry room on this level is nicely equipped with a large-capacity Maytag washer and dryer to dry your suits after a dip in the hot tub or in any of our three summertime Chalet Village swimming pools, or just to freshen up during an extended stay. Ironing may not be your idea of fun while on vacation, but we’ve got you covered. We have an iron and full-size ironing board set up for you, just in case.
The main level upstairs showcases the towering timber-frame architecture of the great room. This lofty space was designed and decorated to reflect the majesty of the Smoky Mountains. The gourmet kitchen is stocked with about every gadget and gizmo a chef could ever want. No expense has been spared in this heart of the home. Granite counters, stainless steel appliances including a microwave/convection oven and gas range. There is plenty of room to dine for you and your party. Besides the spacious island with seating for three, there are two additional seating areas, one in the breakfast nook, and one along a bank of windows with sweeping views toward the mountain range. After that big meal you’ll probably want to lounge on the comfy sofa basking in the glow of the stone gas-log fireplace. Above the mantle is another large screen TV to catch a game or your favorite show. You’ll likely be drawn outside though to the Adirondack rocking chairs and glider on the huge main deck. The grill master in your group will want to fire up some burgers or steaks on the grill we’ve provided.
Back inside, you’ll find the barn wood king master suite with deck access. It has a luxurious private bath with a walk-in shower, two big closets for your belongings, and another TV. There’s an additional half bath down the hall.
The most spectacular views are found on the top level. A tastefully-appointed third bedroom awaits with a hickory wagon wheel queen bedroom set, TV, closet, and shared bathroom with walk-in shower. This may be our home’s coziest resting space, with a rocking chair next to the windows showcasing the expanse of the magnificent Smokies. Also on this level is a massive loft bedroom area, complete with two twin-over-full bunk beds overlooking the towering beams and picturesque windows of the great room.
Whether you seek adventure or just a place to relax and decompress, we work hard to provide you with a worry-free vacation home that blends in harmony with the natural beauty of the Smokies.

This stunning cabin was all that we hoped for and more! The hosts were very communicative and went out of their way to make us feel at home! The location and exceptional views helped our family to make memories that we will cherish always!!

Absolutely stunning property with amazing views. Seen bears within minutes of arriving! We loved it. Hands down the best property managers we’ve ever had the pleasure of booking with. 10/10. We will return!

This beautiful mountain home was a perfect meeting spot for us to spend a weekend with our college-aged children. The home is immaculate: every room is beautifully appointed with just the right touch of rustic. Boys used the pool table a ton while we watched March Madness and even dipped in the hot tub. It was cozy and comfortable with amazing views, while also convenient to everything. Yes, the ride up the mountain and driveway were steep, but we were prepared. Check in and check out were a breeze and Dan and Jolene were proactively communicative and helpful with even the most minor issue (we needed to put the ice handle down!) And bonus - we saw a mama bear with cubs! I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Beautiful home! This was the perfect amount of space for our family to enjoy. Home was decorated for the holiday and we loved the views from the balconies.

Fabulous cabin. Realized while there that had we stayed south of gatlinburg we would have had to drive through gatlinburg to get anywhere. That would have been horrible.
As for cabin, well stocked kitchen, wonderfully comfortable beds. Views to die for. Separate bar. Perfect for us.

We had a lovely family vacation staying at this beautiful chalet. There was plenty of room for all 10 of us, which is a plus. Everyone had such a fun, relaxing time.
Dan & Jolene are excellent hosts. They responded promptly anytime I had a question. Check this property out. You will glad you did.

If I could rate this property higher than five stars I would. This is by far the cleanest property we have ever rented through VRBO!! It was beautiful and just like all the pictures. Nice beds and very comfortable furniture. It was just what we needed for an extended family vacation. The views were incredible and a good location being between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
The road leading up to the house and the driveway are very steep but by the end of the week we were kinda used to it. We are from flat corn country so it was kinda a shock when we arrived.
The owners were super fast in replying when I had a couple questions.
Would definitely rent this house again if I needed a large space!!

Great home. The kids had their own space when needed, yet the common areas were large enough that we could all be together for game and meal time. Beautiful porches with great views. The location is perfect. Easy quick drive to both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Would definitely stay here again.

My family and some friends stayed here for 5 days (mid-June). House is high in the sky and away from Gatlinburg bustle - just how we like it. Good access to the park by-pass so we didn’t need to drive through Gatlinburg, although I didn’t consider the town to be overly congested while we were there - i.e., relative to previous visits. The park on the other hand . . .
The house was accurately described on the VRBO site with respect to location, amenities, etc. It’s well laid out, with sleeping accommodations on each of the 3 floors. The gas grill is on the 2nd floor, away from the bears, of which there were 5 sightings. (One came by while my sister-in-law was in the hot tub)
Dan and Joleen are great hosts and very active communicators. I highly recommend this property as “home base” for your mountain activities in the area.

We booked last minute and the hosts couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. They provided lots of great info prior to our arrival. The cabin was beautiful and immaculate. Perfect location-even a trolley stop very close to the cabin.

The description on this home is very accurate and exceeded our expectations. Very clean, big, updated decor, centrally located, but away from the traffic and crowds. It has everything you would need to just take a break from enjoying the area and even grill or cook for a family. The Mountain View’s are picturesque and you do see a lot of wildlife, we even saw a family of bears from the balcony. The owners were in contact making sure we had everything we needed. The driveway seemed steep, but really read the directions to access it and it won’t take long to get used to it. We would definitely stay here again.

Really nice cabin! Very clean! Exceptional views on the balcony. Overall a very nice place to stay and even saw a few bears a couple hoses down. As others have stated the road to the cabin is pretty curvy and the driveway is fairly steep. You do get used to it after a few trips up and down though. My group enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin.

Great house for two families with teenagers. Clean, great communication with owners, wonderful location. Driveway was a little tricky first time, but easy after that.

This was a magical place. Amazing views, top end decor, appliances, furniture, etc. The views were 2nd to none - especially from the high end outdoor furniture and the hot tub. The owners were very responsive - checked in several times and were quickly responding to our questions ahead of time. We are already planning to book again for next Thanksgiving. They even had it all decorated for Christmas which made it that much more awesome. Highly recommend - very clean, very nice - made it the best get away ever. Very close to everything - 7 minutes off the main parkway. 5 stars and then some.

This house exceeded my expectations by a mile. We even wanted to extend our stay, but unfortunately the place was booked right after our stay. I highly recommend staying here. Dan and Jolene were super easy to communicate with.

Great Cabin
We stayed there with another family and had 4 teens between our two families. The cabin had plenty of space and was very clean. The kids loved the hot tub and the pool table. The upstairs loft and bedroom were perfect for them while the parents enjoyed privacy on the two lower levels. The views are amazing. The windy mountains were a little bit of a challenge to us because we live in a flat area, but we soon got the hang of navigating there. Location was convenient to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We could get everywhere in less.than 20 minutes.

Family vacation
We enjoyed our stay. The property was beautiful. The views from the porch of the mountains were great. We saw a family of bears mom and three cubs very close to the cabin. The kitchen was well equipped. The arrangement of the rooms worked well for us. There were three families traveling together and everyone had their own space and bath. Hosts were helpful with our questions. Driveway and roads a little daunting at first but became easier with repeated trips. Would definitely recommend this property to others.

5 Bears Deserves 5 Stars
The property was beautiful, clean, and relaxing. We enjoyed the location away from the crowds, but it was so easy to get to town when we wanted to. Each bedroom & bathroom were comfortable easy to use. One of the best features is the stunning view, and it delivered every day. We would recommend this property highly and appreciate the owner's care and communication throughout our visit.

Fabulous stay in gorgeous home!
Dan and Joline not only have a gorgeous home, but are the most amazing and attentive hosts! They answered every question within mins and periodically checked in with us to make sure if there was anything else we needed. The house is as described and even more beautiful and spacious in person! Everything you could think of is provided to truly have a home away from home experience. The beds were so comfortable! The views from decks were breathtaking! Couldn’t ask for a better property to rent for our vacation.

We absolutely loved our stay. The communication with the owners was responsive and friendly. The place is absolutely gorgeous; pictures don’t do it justice. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, the whole fam competed at the pool table, we relaxed in the hot tub with a view, and everyone slept really well in the super comfy beds. The location can’t be beat. We will definitely stay here again next time we head to the area!

Fall Trip!
We stayed for a few days in October and had an incredible time! The property exceeded our expectations. The decor and amenities were awesome and we were all extremely happy with how clean the house was. Hot tub was fun and we played some of the available board games as well. Favorite part was the views off of the decks. I have stayed at several places in the Gatlinburg area and this one may have had the best views of the mountains. Hosts were very responsive and helpful in providing insight and advice for our trip. Definitely a 5 star stay!

Stunning cabin & views!
From check-in to check out we had a wonderful experience! The owners have gone above and beyond to make this beautiful place a home away from home. This is the best stocked kitchen of any place we have stayed. The cherry on top was the beautiful Christmas tree and garland decorations. We can't wait to go back next year for our yearly mountains trip!

The house and view were incredible. The hosts were so nice and detailed with instructions.

This is an incredible place for those that like to get away from the traffic of town and do not mind driving a little further to have that experience(located on a mountain road). The cabin is spacious, set up really well for dinners and family gathering as well as space across the three floors depending on what your family likes. The views are amazing, the deck spacious and relaxing, and the cabin’s architecture is beautiful. One tip to share that other reviews elude to is the supplies… because we do not like to be in the high traffic town where 1.5 miles can take 15 minutes to drive (not exaggerating) we did not realize we should have bought more toilet paper, paper towels, and trash bags. I would recommend stopping on your way from the airport unless you plan to be in town for your trip. You don’t need alot depending on how long you stay, but you may need a small extra supply. We focused on hiking not being in Gatlinburg, so this trip wasted some time for us since it’s not a short trip to a convenience store :). Other than this, the experience was amazing!

Gorgeous and everything you could need!
We truly enjoyed our time at this lovely cabin and completely recommend it. Everything was super clean and well decorated. It was perfect for our family of 5+2 grandparents.
The check in process was completely easy, with a lock box outside. We were able to check in and exactly 3 o’clock. The driveway is definitely steep, but the hosts warn of this in their messages prior to arrival.
The main living area is so beautiful with a gorgeous view of the mountains. We spent lots of time on the upper deck. Very relaxing! The hosts have supplied a variety of games and movies for guests to use. The lower level is a completely additional living area, with refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. Downstairs was great for hanging out to play pool and watch movies at night. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything we found that we needed. You could cook it entire Thanksgiving meal there with no problem!
During our stay, we had a couple of questions for the hosts and they replied almost immediately each time and followed up the next day to make sure everything was satisfactory.
We loved everything about this property and will definitely return in the future. It was my mother-in-law‘s first trip to the Smokies, one of the places on her bucket list, and she absolutely loved it!
We did go down into Gatlinburg once or twice during our stay. The drive is curvy and you have to go pretty slow in some places, but it was pretty amazing also, just imagining how they built these roads! We visited anakeesta, which is beautiful and has a really interesting photo essay of the fires, that I I really enjoyed. We also went back to Ober Gatlinburg, which we have visited 3 times before. It is much older, but my three kids still said they liked it the best. The chairlift and mountain coaster lines were much shorter and my kids still love to do the human maze. The great thing about Ober Gatlinburg is that you can drive up if you choose to skip the gondola, and only have to pay $10 for parking. Of course, up top you pay for all the activities.
Thank you, Dan and Jolene, for sharing your beautiful cabin with us for our fall break family getaway!

Fall Getaway
This house is great! We had 12 in our group and this house worked well for us. Close to the national park and downtown Gatlinburg. House has great views, was very clean and was well stocked for kitchen supplies if you are looking to eat in. Kids loved the hot tub and pool table on the lower level. Favorite part was afternoon/evenings out on the deck and we even saw a bobcat on the neighbors driveway. Driveway and roads are a little intimidating at first, but no problem at all once you do it! I would highly recommend this rental and the owners are great to work with!
