About this cabin rental
Cozy creek-side cottage is tucked away in an easily accessible, yet secluded, mountain setting surrounded by hemlock and rhododendron. It's very centrally situated, only 10-30 minutes away from the areas you're most likely to visit -- Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Black Mountain, Hendersonville and Asheville.
Just like the guests that keep coming back for over a decade, you'll find the cottage is the perfect place to unwind creek-side after enjoying everything the surrounding areas have to offer. Far away from the crowds yet close enough to everything, this IS your home away from home.
The cottage features a comfortable open floor plan interior. You'll find a fully equipped kitchen, comfy king size bed in spacious bedroom, washer/dryer, and double sinks in the bathroom. Crack the bedroom windows and listen to the soothing sounds of the babbling brook as you fall asleep.
Outside, you'll find lots of options to relax. Guests love to swing in the screened-in porch while listening to the tiny cascading waterfall, bask on the sun deck, enjoy a beverage while rocking on the private front porch, lounge on the hammock in the garden, or warm up by the fire pit while taking in the cool evening air.
GOOD NEWS: We now have high-speed Internet!! We were among the first customers to get online via a new fiber optic backbone installed in 2023, delivering plenty of bandwidth for all you Internet needs.
Guests are welcome to use the Amazon Echo device on the kitchen counter to access music, news, weather, etc. through Alexa voice commands or are free to turn it off during their stay. Be advised there are outdoor surveillance cameras monitoring the entrances for security purposes only.
Easily accessed off scenic Hwy 9, the property is located just 10-15 minutes from boating and hiking at Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, and only 20-30 minutes from downtown Black Mountain, Asheville, Hendersonville, Biltmore estate, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
In case you're wondering how far shops, gas stations, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. are from the cottage, here's is a bit more info of what you'll find nearby along the routes to the nearby towns of Black Mountain, Hendersonville, and Lake Lure. All three towns are special in their own way and are roughly equidistant from the cottage but in different directions. Each area has its own personality with unique restaurants, eclectic shops, and breweries/wineries. You should be able to use your GPS to map any of the places I've named below, but there's so much more to see than I can possibly name here.
BLACK MOUNTAIN (NORTH): The exquisitely quaint,
casual, and pet-friendly town of Black Mountain (https://exploreblackmountain.com) has a really neat and walkable downtown with its inviting Town Square, unique shops - including an authentic old-fashioned general store, art galleries, and repurposed train depot - museums, coffee shops, breweries, and dozens of restaurants, all just 25 minutes from the cottage. A short drive from downtown is the picturesque Lake Tomahawk Park and the hiking trails of Montreat. About a mile or so before you reach the downtown area, you find Artisan Gourmet Market and an Ingles gas and grocery store, which are about 13 miles (23 minutes) from the cottage. The town of Black Mountain is a must see, but it's just a bit tedious to drive to because of the twists and turns you'll find heading northbound on beautiful Hwy 9. The road is fully paved, impeccably maintained, and fun to drive, but less convenient to navigate. Roughly mid-way along the route to downtown, about 12 minutes from the cottage, you'll find the welcoming Straightaway Cafe & Pub, a local favorite worth checking out.
CHIMNEY ROCK / LAKE LURE (SOUTH, THEN EAST): Just 10 minutes from the cottage you'll find the charming Chimney Rock Village (https://www.chimneyrock.org), which boasts a nice variety of shops and restaurants, as well as a brewery, a winery, and the scenic Rocky Broad riverwalk, all surrounding the spectacular hiking of Chimney Rock State Park. If you continue through Chimney Rock Village eastbound on hwy 64 for another five minutes or so, you'll see Lake Lure's scenic Flowering Bridge, Washburn Marina and Morse park, all of which are a must see. Continuing past the marina, the drive will become a bit more windy and scenic as you circle the lake on route to an Ingles gas and grocery store on the far southeast end of Lake Lure, roughly 11 miles (23 minutes) from the cottage. If you're into horses, driving another 22 minutes south on hwy 9 and then east on hwy 74 will bring you to the amazing Tryon International Equestrian Center, with all sorts of family-friendly events going on year round.
HENDERSONVILLE (SOUTH, THEN WEST): The closest and most conveniently accessed gas station is 10 miles away from the cottage heading west (southwest) on hwy 64, where you'll find an Exxon right beside Griffin's Grocery & Cafe. Continuing westbound along hwy 64 another 20-25 minutes will bring you to Downtown Hendersonville (https://www.romanticasheville.com/hendersonville.htm), a chic and casual-upscale area that we just love. As the second largest downtown in Western North Carolina (second only to Asheville), downtown Hendersonville has all sorts of shops, restaurants, galleries and even a pinball museum along the pedestrian-friendly half-mile Main Steet, as well as lots of other eats and breweries less than a mile away. It's well worth the trip if you've got the time. Three miles shy of the downtown Hendersonville area on hwy 64, you'll find the largest concentration and assortment of recognizable franchise shopping center stores and chain restaurants, as well as numerous fast food options. You'll also find in that area multiple groceries and gas stations, all about 15 miles (25 minutes) from the cottage, including (you guessed it) another Ingles grocery store.
NOTE: It's worth mentioning that, in terms of ease of driving, I prefer going to Hendersonville to run errands because there are fewer twists and turns compared to the drives into Black Mountain and Lake Lure. Honestly, though, I look forward to visiting each of these areas every time I'm at the cottage and I know you will, too.

Beautiful week at this cabin. We hiked, visited Chimney Rock and Lake Lure nearby (beautiful morning walks), did yoga and visited art galleries in Black Mountain. Lots of hiking and reading books while listening to the stream on the screened porch. House had everything needed and was in a perfect location (not hard to get to yet still quiet). I love this little part of the world and look forward to coming back next summer!

We had a wonderful time staying at the Creekside Cottage and were sad to leave after our 8 day stay. The location was perfect for us to do the things we wanted to do. Lots of things to do around the area. Everything was as described in the listing. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. We were very comfortable and really appreciated the cleanliness of the property. The bed is very comfortable. We would stay here again for sure. Thank you for sharing your gem.

Absolutely the perfect place to stay in the mountains. Everything was perfect. Just what my husband and I needed for a real getaway from the fast pace of our life with kids, animals, jobs, etc. The hiking trails are endless and we are trying to figure out when we can come back next year! This place has everything you need and more for the perfect mountain vacation. We loved it better than our trip the the Smoky Mountains.

We had a fantastic, relaxing week! Perfect location. The screened porch was my personal favorite. ❤️

Great peaceful setting in a very cozy cabin. Everything was exactly as described, and better.
Superbly equipped kitchen - every appliance a person could need.
We loved the cabin and the surrounding area. My wife fell in love with Hendersonville.
The roads and directions (Google Maps) were confusing at first, but after a week we were navigating like locals.

Loved the cabin, spotlessly clean. Had everything needed, close to everything we wanted to see. Our pup loved exploring. Great place!

Had a great few days going to the Marion NC Bigfoot Festival. Cabin was a jewel in the woods. A lovely stream flows past property with such a peaceful setting. Enjoyed a comfortable clean and very well equipped home. The back porch is perfect place to grill and relax with morning coffee. Everything you’ll need for a mountain get away. Only hiccup is as check in. Not host fault or ours—- Vrbo software had messed up our phone number. Corrected after a few extra miles driving to get better cell reception nearby. WiFi worked great once we figured it out.

The property was well decorated and clean. The location was very important. We live in the country which made this property excellent for us. Thank You.

My husband and I stayed here for a week with our small terrier; it truly felt like our little home in the woods. We fell asleep to the sound of the creek behind the cabin, and enjoyed waking up to the birds and wind in the trees.
The property is phenomenal; it exceeded our expectations in every way! The photos don’t do it justice. Everything was well stocked and we didn’t run into any issues. It truly was so comfortable; our favorite spots were the rocking chairs on the porch and the swing out back.
The best part is the location; it is central to everything! We spent most of our time in Black Mountain, but also did a lot in Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, and Asheville. This area of NC is stunning; it’s teaming with wildlife, kind people, art, music, and delicious food. What’s nice is everywhere is kid and dog-friendly.
This was the best VRBO stay we’ve had; I can’t say enough good things about Tony and Maria. Their communication was excellent, and the cabin was sparkling when we got there. Truly great hosts!

We spent 4 nights in the cabin.
It appears as advertised. One bedroom was just perfect for myself, my wife and the dog.
Anyone more than that and I think it would feel crowded.
Nice place definitely worth the trip

We had a wonderful stay at Creekside cabin! We were able to enjoy the peacefulness of the creek flowing beside the cabin. Close to everything but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of town. The cabin was perfectly described and accommodating. Very easy road to the cabin and easy check in process.

Great solo getaway for some downtime. The cabin had everything I needed. It is convenient to town. It rained a good bit during my stay which made the screened porch and swing so inviting.

We had a great stay at this cabin. We came to relax and have some quiet and it was perfect. It is well insulated, the temps got down in the single digits and the cabin stayed warm. The cell service (Verizon) and wifi worked perfectly. I would recommend stopping and getting groceries on your way in. Also our GPS took us to someone's house, but the road was right past it, so just look for the street sign if yours does the same. We didn't venture out, but there are lots of things to do nearby.

We loved our stay at this cabin, lots of amenities not offered at some VRBOs. Very clean and homey. Loved the location and lots of things to do int he erea.

Wonderful stay and plan to return. Home was very clean. Great open kitchen plan and stocked well with all your cooking needs. Excellent directions to the home, check in and internet. Simi private comment earlier meaning there is one home up the hill and a couple you pass before arrival. I still give this secluded property. Note, highly recommend printing directions before leaving home due to cell service before arriving. Short drive to Chimney Rock. Have your groceries and vehicle filled before arriving due to limited availability in the area.

Welcome to clam. This cabin is nestled ever so lightly in the woods but so close to the creek that you can listen to its flow. We welcomed 2024 by scheduling a long weekend away. We visited Black Mountain as well as spending a day at The Biltmore. We also drove over to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock while enjoying the decorations of the holidays. We spent a cozy New Years eve at the cabin and enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen. This has been one of our finest stays as travelers.

The cabin was warm and cozy for our December stay. It was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The hosts were quick to respond to questions and so helpful! We loved our stay!!!

Tony and Maria were great hosts. This cabin is out of the way and was just what we were looking for to enjoy a quiet weekend away. It is small but with plenty of room. It is close enough (20 minutes or so) to Black Mountain, Chimney Rock, Asheville and Hendersonville and yet not in middle of a neighborhood. We enjoyed a nice bon fire, the quite of the woods, and a warm and very comfortable bed to sleep in.
We would highly recommend this property and very well may book it again.

We love to come to the mountains this time of the year. Love all the colors on the trees and the smell of fall. Lots of pumpkins at farms. Enjoyed downtown Black Mountain but always enjoy Hendersonville more. Was able to enjoy lunch downtown Hendersonville and get shopping done. Our cabin was well equipped. Got to see a black bear of course from a distance 😊. Thank you Tony and Maria for letting us stay at your cabin. My puppies loved the cold weather!!!

My wife and I got away to the mtns for an anniversary weekend. Enjoyed exploring Black Mountain, Chimney Rock Village, Chimney Rock State Park. Loved the Autumn colors, great hikes and tranquility of the cabin. Tony and his wife are amazing hosts.

Very nice cabin located in a semi private location surrounded by trees and a small creek. Relaxing, little to no traffic, close drive to Black Mountain, which was very enjoyable and Chimney Rock which was also nice. The cabin had all the amenities needed to get by.

The property was very clean and tastefully decorated. The bed was also very comfy! We enjoyed chasing waterfalls, which is something my husband and I love to do. Seeing the town of Black Mountain and Chimney Rock Village, along with Lake Lure. Perfect timing with the change of the leaves. Thanks to the Pitas for letting us enjoy their little cabin!

The house was very clean when we got there. The kitchen was very well equipped pots, pans, dishes and silverware. There plenty of towels in the bathroom.
It's very private but not isolated. A very nice screened porch and an open deck. We were there for a week and one car went by the entire week. Quiet and restful

Nice little cabin in the woods not far away from main road. Convenient to several mountain towns, the winding roads are beautiful to travel. If you want to use fire pit make sure you take some wood up with you as well as charcoal for the grill if planning to do some outdoor cooking. Overall it’s a really cute cabin.

Great cabin that is quiet, private and peaceful. Cabin is stocked with everything you could possibly need and things you wouldn’t expect like the dog food in the event you forget to pack some. Very clean and well maintained. Roads in the area are curvy but take your time and your fine. Great screened in porch! Best cabin we’ve stayed in so far. Thanks for allowing us to stay during our trip! We hope to return soon.

My husband and I chose this cabin to stay at for our 20th anniversary. We were lucky enough to have thunderstorms every night of our stay which is a true delight to experience from the cozy screened in back porch. Everything about the house from the amenities to the furnishings to the location was absolutely perfect. Super close to all sorts of activities and we had a great and memorable stay!!
