About this house rental
We are new to VRBO but we are not new to renting. This newly remodeled charming cabin from the 1950s previously owned by the Girl Scouts is perfect for a family with kids or even a couples getaway.
Located 10 Min. down the road from the beach in Lake Lure and less than an hour from downtown Asheville. Tryon equestrian center is 20 minutes away.
It has a full kitchen, washer and dryer, 3 bedrooms/2 bath, a beautiful porch. We don't have cable, we do have WIFI, and we provide Netflix. It's in area just a minute away from the grocery store. No pets no exceptions
This historic lodge has a large main living area with three sofas, a DVD/TV (no satellite TV), and chairs. The dining area has a table that seats 8. This is a Non-Smoking building, there will be a $150 cleaning fee if anyone smokes inside. The max number of people is 7 people, we recommend at max 5-6 adults. Anymore more adults will start feeling tight. The third bedroom is really a "Kids room" that is attached to the other bedroom.
3 Bedrooms:
*The first bedroom features a queen bed and a couch. It shares a "Jack and Jill" bath with the second bedroom.
*The second bedroom has a queen bed and is comfortable and cozy. The door to the "kid's room" is to the left of the bed.
*The "kid's room" has 3 beds (1 standard twin and 2 camp twins) and has a door out to the wonderful screened in porch.
2 Bathrooms:
*The large bathroom is at the front of the house with easy access for everyone. This has a bathtub with a sliding door.
*The "Jack and Jill" bathroom has a step in shower and is located between the first and second bedrooms.
The full kitchen features a new stove/oven, refrigerator, and plenty of pots, pans, plates and so forth for your cooking and meal needs and a washer and dryer.

Hot water was sporadic. Furniture was old and porch furniture was filthy. There was no TV, just Netflix. Jen did her best to accommodate us, but the place was just not very satisfactory.

All that we hoped.
The rental is as cute as pictured and couldn't have been more perfect to return to at the end of the day.

Self care weekend
Everything was wonderful. The lodge is perfect and peaceful. I wasn’t sure I would like the hot tub being separate from the house but it was close and private enough,

Lovely Place
I enjoy being away from the hustle and bustle while on vacation. This was a perfect place to have a girl's weekend. It is very close to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock but far enough away to avoid crowds and noise. Also, I grew up going to camp every summer and this brought back so many wonderful memories of camp life.

Great place for a mother daughter trip.
I booked this place for a weekend with my daughter. I didn’t know it was close to Chimney Rock. The cabin was very spacious. Wonderful new appliances. Girl Scout memorabilia on the walls. It was real cute. We had a good time. The property is well maintained.

The lodge is located on an abandoned Girl Scout camp. Construction of the camp was probably in the 1950s. The fireplaces, constructed of local Stone, are beautiful stonework, but do not meet modern safety standards. Sadly, this means you cannot have a fire in the lovely fireplace. However, candles can bring the fireplace to life. There are 5 candles in Lantern Style candle holders. I brought 4 jar scented candles and then added tea candles on the raised hearth. So we did have a fire in the fireplace, which really brightened our evenings in the living room. Another use at the fireplace is to improve the volume and tonal quality of Boombox music. By pushing the boombox back into the fireplace a little way, one creates a kind of Reverb chamber. By pointing the speakers at the back of the fireplace one can reduce the sharpness of the treble range and round out the sound.

Birthday Sleepover
I had a wonderful experience in renting this cabin for my daughter’s 11th birthday sleepover. The cabin was PERFECT! It is much larger than it appears in pictures. We spend the majority of the time in the living room area which is very large. My daughter and her friends raved about it, the location, the hot tub, and the recreation area. We felt completely isolated and as though we had our own little space for the night. The owner added a sweet touch by having a birthday balloon in the dining room for my daughter when we arrived. I would absolutely stay here again.
